Oh, how I hate seeing these incredible young women's work mangled, mashed, and thrown out the window by bad camera work. Dear camera people everywhere: sometimes your artistry with your camera is indispensable and other times it's completely inappropriate, out of place, and destroys the effect for the viewer of the performance your capturing. This ladder is the case with Avant Gardey. They are performing for a live audience that's standing in front of them and that doesn't jerk around from one part of the auditorium to another, to another, to another, nor does it zoom in, nor does it zoom out - the perspective of the audience they have designed their routines for doesn't change in any way over the course of the performance. These women are performing for the benefit of an audience that is standing straight in front of them, without moving, the entire time they're performing; in order to capture the intended effect of the performance, therefore, that is what your cameras need to do: they need to stand stock still straight in front of the stage, pointed straight at it, the entire time Avant Gardey is performing. Only then will you have demonstrated a true understanding of your own art: an understanding of when to be fancy, and when simplicity is the exact thing called for. Thank you. No, wait: this may not be the fault of the camera people at all - this is probably the fault of the editors. They think they need to edit this footage the same way they edit most other things and that just destroys it.
