I am getting to the point where I am going to be able to relax. Almost all the "making" is done and I will be ordering the new HVAC system early next week. After that I can focus more on the fun and relaxing side of things I hope. I will be ripping out the old HVAC system but right now that might be therapeutic and certainly something different! LOL! Thanks as always for the support and take care! Merry Christmas!

Hi there Addam! Thanks for the update, I think you need to give yourself a well deserved break over Christmas and New Year! So many videos and so much effort you've put in. It's massively appreciated especially as I know what it takes! I hope you get that heater sorted sooner than later! Wishing you and yours a great weekend my friend! 😎👊👍

Thanks Mark! I hope to get the run footage with Al edited up tonight when we get back from the family get together. Then tomorrow is planned to be an RC day so that will give me a couple weeks breathing room for videos, at least that is the plan! Then I can focus on ordering the new HVAC system and removing the old one before it arrives. Once all that is replaced then it will be back to business as normal (I surely hope). I am doing my best to balance everything, this time of year is always a bit rough between Thanksgiving and Christmas as we lost a lot of good folks in my life in that timeframe over the years. But lots of great memories as well so I try and focus on that part! 10 more days and I can kick back, drink some eggnog, eat too much and enjoy the Holiday! LOL!
Take care Mark and have a wonderful weekend!

Yeah, I have been playing elf over here making stuff for Christmas goodies. Gave out some tonight and they went over very well so that made it all worth it! We had a great time at my wife's side of the family Christmas get together today and I am still stuffed from it! Good food and lots of laughs! I am not too worried about the channel taking a hit, I just feel like I need to get out at least one video a week (silly personal deadlines). I will be editing up all the run footage from Al coming over and hanging out. That will get a couple videos done and then I am going to sit down and get that 956 done tomorrow no matter what! LOL! I want to do the Hornet and need that 956 done so I can start on it.
I have just been frustrated with the whole stupid overpriced repairs on the heat in the garage. Just makes me mad they want 2/3 of an entire new system price for one part and installation! So I am going to order the new unit early next week and start ripping out the old one. I can get the new unit around the 1st of the year and the parts would not be in until sometime in February and may not be installed until March! By then it will be warming up again! LOL!
Here I go rambling one again! Thanks as always for the kind words Ryan, Merry Christmas to you and your family bud!

Sometimes in life, we don’t get everything we want all at once. Just when we think everything is finally in place, we find ourselves having to postpone things due to circumstances beyond our control. But the most important thing, as everyone says, is to cherish the beautiful moments we share with our family. Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas!

We have our friends Christmas coming up before then our Christmas day and then my side of the family get together right afterwards so it is going to be a good couple weeks, busy but I think we are prepared for it all (mostly, I think!). Yeah, it is always busy, that additional stress of the HVAC has not improved the normal levels at all! We will be ordering the new system next week and hopefully sometime around new year I will be putting all that in. I refuse to pay 2/3 of a new system price for one part! Plus I get a new warranty cycle on the new system and can add HVAC install to my list of jack of all trades list!
4 years has flown by and I could not be happier with the results. Numbers aside (only metrics I have to work with) I have met a ton of wonderful folks like yourself from all over the world that I love talking to and can call friends! • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

Oh wow, Yeah you got me beat! That had to have been rough. I would not be as annoyed if it were a reasonable price, not 2/3 of the price of an entire system. I just don't understand how on part and replacement labor costs close to the same price as an entire ready to install system! Also the 5 to6 week lead time to get the part and then they won't schedule the install unitl it shows up so that adds another 2 to 3 weeks on top of it. It will be warming back up before they even show up to repair it! So I am ordering the system early next week and starting to remove the old system out of there as it only take 2 weeks to get the new system! Just seems wasteful and wrong. Anyways, Thanks for watching and checking in! Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas!

Oh man! That is rough! The part that rubs me the wrong way is the part replacement is 2/3 the cost of entire DIY system that I can get 4 to 6 weeks quicker! If it were a reasonable price and timeframe then it would be just another bill to pay but this just seems so unreasonable and stupid. So the new system will be ordered and I will start ripping out the old system while waiting for the new stuff to arrive! Thanks for the support and more fun stuff to come very soon! Nice one, Addam! I just watched Mark Bryan build a nice DF-01 chassis, and you slap a dirty run one up on the bench, pure joy! Great to hear you had Al over, I can imagine the laughs in your little forest area, the elves and gnomes must have loved him there, he he!
Yeah, that stuff with a heat pump and all those energy draining things, they always get us down this time of year, I know I am completely attempting to do RC stuff almost every day and almost every day I fail to do so, just stuff happening, ha ha! It's okay, it'll be spring again, at some point, ha ha!
Have a good one there, buddy!

Yeah the Manta Ray is a mess! So was bench after bringing it out to show you guys, had a brief recording pause to clean up all the dirt that fell off of it! It was a fun day with him over. We did quite a bit of chatting and laughing while out there! I will be working on starting to edit all that footage this evening when I get home from our Christmas get together.
The whole heat thing really sucks! I had a buddy come over and fill it with freon and got it up running. went out the next morning and the entire upstairs was a foggy mess from it leaking out. I had to air it out and shut everything down. I have to order the new system and it will be a couple weeks before it arrives so I will try and get a bunch of stuff recorded as when it arrives I will be installing all of it myself.
The 956 has been quite an opponent, I enjoyed the build of it but the stickers I have not wanted to do at all! I will get it done before the Evo build as it is my goal to not leave any more of them sitting around unfinished like the RC10T still is and Lazer I need to get the parts on! Hopefully my focus will get more focus soon!!! Take care Mads and have a great weekend!

I got the 956 wrapped up yesterday and the Hornet build started so that was a relief and fun. Tearing out the old HVAC stuff and replacing it doesn't sound fun but for the money I'd rather replace the system than the one part! Hey Adam! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and just wanted to say thank you! I don’t usually comment but I’m younger (in my 20s) and I don’t see a lot of kit videos and sadly not a lot of people my age building rc kits and stuff. I love the creativity and the different take on these! Every year for Christmas I buy my dad and I matching Kits to assemble together and the couple months they sit at my house before Christmas and I’m itching to open them but can’t yet, I love watching your build content on those specific kits and I’m constantly finding new inspiration for the next one. Thanks for the entertainment and the personal feel to the channel that many just dont have. Merry Christmas!

I love the fun Christmas tradition you have going on over there, that sounds super fun! Sadly my dad has a less than zero percent interest in them. I show him a new build and he looks at me like I am in need of therapy (he's probably right)! LOL! It is really cool you and your dad get to experience a new kit every year and you are almost there, just a few more days!!! Thanks for sharing the great story with me!
I will keep being a bad influence and making lots more videos for you to enjoy, get some inspiration from and probably end up buying too many toys! LOL!
Take care and I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas!! Feel free to email some pics of this years builds once they are done or message me on Instagram with them, I'd love to see them!

      @toddsmith2632 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@ Thanks for the nice response and I’m glad the videos will keep coming!
My dad’s only small issue with the kit world is he likes the more basher friendly trucks. We have Arrmas to beat on and some other stuff, we’ve done tt02 kits, clods, a vanquish crawler, and this year is the turbo scorpion. Do you have any recommendations for kits that are fairly stout for some more aggressive driving? I can’t afford $500 a piece Teknos and don’t need anything quite that intense. But a kit that would handle decent, take some jumps, and the occasional crash at the local track would be great! The older designs are just not quite as stout or they are too pretty to run hard haha

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  วันที่ผ่านมา

@@toddsmith2632 The Kyosho kits all have been upgrade to handle brushless power so the driveline will hold up no problem. It does not say to in the kit but thread lock the screw going into the counter gear shaft in the transmission (small gear in between the spur and the motor). If it is pre-installed then remove it and thread lock it! I had one that was pre-installed come loose and I can very close to destroying t gears in there! The only real weekend of them is the chassis rails can get bent in hard crashes. Those are usually in stock as they are ones that need replacing the most. They are geared higher then Tamiya kits so you need less motor to go fast. A good 19turn brushed or 3000kv brushless will get them moving nicely! My other word of advice is if something is not fitting properly, you goofed up. These snap together perfectly and if you having to force something it is not a error in the kit but something is not assembled right in a previous step. Have fun with them!!

LOL! Joking aside I appreciate it!
The HVAC issue have been stressing my out and that total they gave me the other day was laughable! also the 6 week lead time was stupid, it will be warming up by the time they get the part! I was expecting around a $1000 for parts and labor, but 2200 for it was outrageous and of course it had a 5 year warranty on a 6 year old part... didn't see that coming! The kicker is the entire system (ENTIRE) is 3100 ready to install myself that comes with a new 5 year warranty so it seems I will be adding HVAC installer to me resume soon. I can get the system in about 2 weeks versus the 6-8 for the repairs as well. Sucks I have to pay more but seems silly not to!

Plus I get to add HVAC install to my resume! LOL! It could be far worse and I get to learn something new, still a hassle though! Take care Glenn and have a great weekend!

Hey Pete! It just sucks I have not had the time or energy for it lately. I enjoy doing it but it is the sacrificial thing I have to do from time to time when things get backed up and I am stressed. Once all this heat mess is behind me I will be in a lot better shape. We have to get in and get the system ordered, then two weeks to get it and then install it all. So I have about 2 weeks or so to get a some stuff recorded and edited so I can focus on getting all that stuff installed when it gets here. I am looking forward to the Evo build but have to get the 956 done first. If I don't it will stay like that until spring! LOL!

Hey there John! Yeah the HVAC thing really got me miffed but we will be ordering the new system next week and hopefully sometime around new year I will be putting all that in. I refuse to pay 2/3 of a new system price for one part! Plus I get a new warranty cycle on the new system and can add HVAC install to my list of jack of all trades list! In the time it takes to get here I will be working on ripping out the old system. Seems like such a waste but makes more sense in the long run as I get a whole new warranty and all new stuff this way, not stressing on something else breaking in the other unit!
I am doing pretty well juggling things but have gotten behind on the YT stuff. I plan on editing up the footage from Al's visit tonight when we get back home and then tomorrow should be a fun day in the basement working on RCs. Things will even out soon enough and other than the kick in the crotch from the AC stuff I have done well! LOL!

You're one of the hardest working in the game mate.
I do hope that you can manage to take some time out over Christmas to spend with family ,and recharge your batteries! (you deserve it!)
I think that we can all relate to what you are saying 100%.
Its a very busy, and stressful time of the year.....and we are forced to reduce hobby and TH-cam time drastically.
Its now the 18th of December, and I've not even had time to buy one present,or write one card yet......
Working every day until 9pm Christmas eve as well, panic is now well and truly setting in!😅
Those channel analytics are just like ours regarding the subscribers V non subscribers .....i fail to understand why people who regularly watch content dont hit that sub button??🤔
I don't think many of them realise the amount of time and effort that goes into a channel like yours, they get to watch all this great regular content totally for free......the least they can do is take 3 seconds to subscribe! 🙄
Im actually loving the changing colour backdrop, very psychedelic.😅
As for the Manta Ray,that dirt tells a story of fun.....nothing wrong with a bit of dirt on a runner,if you clean it up then your less likely to run it again any time soon trust me! 😉
Wishing you and the family a very happy Christmas man,and a huge thanks for all the superb content that you have given us throughout 2024! 🙏

Thanks James! I appreciate it. Think I just got worn down a bit and frustrated with the whole HVAC thing as well. I had just replaced my compressor out there right after Thanksgiving as the 6 year old one decided to get a pinhole in the tank and replacing the tank was a much as buying a new one. Getting tired of everything having a 5-6 year lifespan and made to replaced and not repaired, so wasteful. Things have slowed down some and the purchases have been made so I'm trying to wind it down and get ready to take a Christmas break. My wife is off next week so I will be doing stuff with her, baking cookies and watching Christmas movies on the top of the to-do list next week! LOL!
I'm sorry you are stuck working so much but I am sure the nasty weather has gotten everything a bit backed up over there lately.
The subscriber thing is always going to skewed, not everyone logs in to watch videos and comment so they can't sub or like videos either. Others, I guess they watch whatever the algorithm feeds them and they see what they see. I stopped trying to figure out the numbers a year or more ago, I just report on them now LOL! I got way to stressed out trying to figure out what worked and what didn't. 4 years in and I am still shocked all the time on video performance. I can spend hours and hours editing up a video and it kind of tanks and I can record one, edit and upload it in under an hours and I get 2-3 times views and subscribers from it... I just put them out now and what happens, makes it a lot easier to not worry about it!
I hope you get some time to get some shopping squeezed into your schedule and that you have a very Merry Christmas! Best wishes to you and the crew!!

Totally agree mate,we grew up in the eighties where things were designed to last, and be repairable.
Yes, things were more expensive.... but they would always last 20+ years at least!
And thats the exact reason why I never by a car produced after 1999,i still play my records on technics 1210 turntables, and I garden with my grandads old gardening tools and a 50 year old briggs and Stratton lawn mower!! 😂
Unfortunately things are designed in obsolesence these days-
I always remember my dad telling me about how Ford used to pay engineers to design rust traps in their cars that would bubble up just after the three year paint warranty would run out!
It's ludicrous how disposable everything has become in modern life.
Electronic devices are the worst, programmed to fry control boards after X amount of hours usage..... Just to get more money out of the consumer.
You've only got to look at our own hobby to see how well the old eighties transmitters, servos chargers and brushed motors have survived, most still working perfectly fine 40+ years on...... I doubt the same will stand with all the modern stuff!
Crikey, you set me off on a rant there mate! 😅
Glad to hear that you will be getting some quality time off with the family..... Just promise me that you won't be watching our Christmas movie with the wife!!! 😮💩
As for me, I only ever take Christmas and boxing day off....
As I sole trader with 250 monthly jobs to get through I really have to keep going!
Also, it keeps me out of mischief (sort of)! 😂
I need to be kept busy, and if I don't work, I don't earn, then can't pay my bills!
Mad rush over the next few days, but I will get there!
      Have a good one mate. 😊👍 👍

But ive seen the one you have on a bunch of videos and would really like it. Thanks again Addam and in case you dont post anything before Christmas have a great Christmas and Happy New Year. Dave

Thanks Dave, I truly appreciate that and that is a really big compliment! What you see is what you get, nothing differnt than me in real life expect more of a filter on YT, I keep the colorful language to a minimum on here but have less of a filter in person! LOL! I am more than happy to help out and answer question when I can. Some things I don't know the answers to but those that I do or at least have experience in I will always offer help.
For the GPS I use the SkyRC GNSS Performance Analyzer Bluetooth GPS Speed Meter & Data Logger. It works with Android and Fruit phones (Apple). Much more accurate and you can tuck it safely inside the car to keep it from getting beat up. It is quite a bit more expensive but since I was doing more and more speed run challenges it was well worth it to have the phone app and be able to screen shot and keep record of the runs.
I will have more videos coming, no worries on that. I am part way through editing the run footage and just wrapped up the 956 today and started the Hornet Evo so more fun stuff is coming up! I do plan on doing some sort of Christmas video as well before the big day! Take care and I wish you and your family and very Merry Christmas!!!

Yeah, I am sure you are right. The kicker is they have to wait 5-6 weeks to get the part and then schedule the install so I am looking at 6-8 weeks minimum for them to do it. I can order the whole new system, get it in 2 weeks and install it all in my own time well before they could replace one part. Seems terribly wasteful but I am hoping I may be able to sell some of the working parts for a few bucks to recoup some of the difference in price.
I have not figured out what I am going to do on the paint. I have a couple ideas in my head but not sure which may actually happen. More than likely be a pick up a can of paint and roll with it plan as usual! LOL!

Ugg, it is so frustrating. The replacement part is 2/3 the cost of a whole new system at Lowes and is going to be anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks before they can fix it. I can go to Lowes and order it tomorrow and get it in 2 weeks. So I will be adding HVAC install to my resume of crap I have done very soon!

Yeah, they are nuts if they think I am spending that much on a part! I'll be installing a whole new system sometime around new years! I get all new parts, a new warranty and get to add HVAC install on my resume as well!! Yeah is definitely is going to tighten the belt on spending for a bit but I have way to much invested in stuff sitting out there to avoid it. The cold is not going to hurt much out there but I definitely do not want to be out there in the freezing temps doing anything out there. Plus I have to have the AC as it is so humid here in the summer things will rust up quickly if it is not climate controlled. Another speed bump but thankfully nothing more than a speed bump! Take care and have a great weekend!
