PMDG 737-700 for MSFS - Tutorial 14: Landing & Taxi-in

  • Hi all, I'm a PMDG tech team member and real life 737 pilot. Here is my next video in the 737 tutorial series.
    In this tutorial we will land in Dublin and taxi to the gate. Please view it in conjunction with the theoretical landing video found here:
    • PMDG 737-700 for MSFS ...
    The video has been taken using a pre-release beta version of the product, so you can expect to see some issues that will be fixed before release. There's no need to point those out as the team will be aware and working on them already. For example the trim sound is not working 100%.
    If you like my videos please consider a small donation as it's taking a lot of time and effort to create these.

    These tutorials are not designed as absolute beginner tutorials. It is expected that the viewer already has basic experience with airliners and knows the basics how to operate an aircraft.
    Instead these tutorials will focus on the 737NG as an aircraft and the particularities of how to operate it.
    I'll be closing this introduction by saying that I'm not a professional TH-camr or Streamer quite yet and these videos are my very first that actually get more than a hundret clicks. I have never before created such content so bear with me for doing beginner mistakes.
    I record straight from the sim without any fancy stuff going on in the background.

      @@FlightSims There is a squat switch on the landing gear that works when a landing gear strut compresses, which activates and deactivates certain actions on the aircraft, for instance you cannot retract the landing gear while on the ground due to the squat switch.

    Fantastic set of videos. Would be lost without them. These and 320simpiot for A320 are best for FS2020. Regarding landing, I really struggle. I’ve tried countless times but as soon as I disconnect the autopilot I can never achieve a clean landin, either losing the centreline or the gideslope or both!. What actual manual control inputs/thrust changes are used during the last 1000/500 feet altitude? Is autothrottle disconnected? Whatever I do just results in a very messy adding.

  • @FTStratLP

    Hi, do you flare at 20m ?
    I'm really struggling with the landing. Loosing altitude too early. Do you do all the work with the yoke and throttle?
    I.e. to adjust altitude, just more thrust or pull on the yoke or both ?
    I think sometimes I adjust too much.

  • @phenomenalnoumenon4140
    @phenomenalnoumenon4140 ปีที่แล้ว

    Btw I think the reason the MCP speed wasn’t reset when you pressed the LVL change button was because it defaults to the last entered speed which you had manually set earlier. Also thank you for your videos.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It defaults to the closest speed to the current one. So when you're below 100kt it would reset.

    • @phenomenalnoumenon4140
      @phenomenalnoumenon4140 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it might be interpreting you clicking the FLC button multiple times on the ground at a low speed as an error/abnormal conditions and attempting to correct it by setting the MCP speed to the default value of 100 knots multiple times. And as you said in the video it depends on the model/software version of the aircraft. Thanks.

    How does the aircraft feel while flairing and in the flair?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That really comes down to the hardware one uses. With my Thrustmaster Boeing yoke it feels a little easy to flare, but that's the cast with most MSFS aircraft using this particular piece of hardware. Therefore I'd say it feels alright. I'd have to try it with a multi thousand dollar force feedback 737 replica yoke to be able to give you an actual real answer here.
      All the aerodynamic effects are there, but with different ranges of travel of the hardware and without elevator feel computer in the hardware yoke it's always difficult to comment on the flare.
