I hope this video is pinned in the PMDG forums because it will undoubtedly prevent thousands of posts about the parking brake being broken in this update! Well done, sir!
I wasted 3 hours of my evening last night trying to figure out what the heck was going on!! Never was able to fly as I'd planned! GRRR!
@@Mr.Martini549 same hereeeeeeeee
@@aerohubentertainment9552 😁😁
I have the P brake all sorted out now.
How you experienced any sim crashes since the last 737 update to version.31? I’ve had 3 crashes this weekend. Never completed a whole flight this weekend b/c of it. 😕
0:45 the park brake also has an electrical component. The park brake lever also closes a valve (with an electric motor) to stop hydraulic fluid leaking through the normal antiskid valves (releasing the hydraulic pressure on the brakes). The park brake light indicates the position of the valve.
THANK YOU!!!! I'm a 737 mechanic in real life, and when I went to apply the brakes, it too me forever to figure it out. The two second application makes sense after you said it.
Tack!
A setting to disable and enable this feature should be set as a user default in the FS Actions and or plane state menus.
I agree. I messed around for 2 hours yesterday to get the parking brake off (was very frustrating) and didn't make it until I came across this video. Now I have the problem that I only "fly" VR and it's very difficult to press the brake buttons on the keyboard under the glasses. And on my Trustmaster, all the buttons are used for more important things. Please!!! the new braking behavior as an option ...
I totally agree....I don't have a rudder pedal and hence setting the parking brake off gives me a headache..I can set the parking brakes easily but setting it off is even more difficult
I dislike that feature as well. I would like to deactivate that and set the old version active again.
Now try to do that with the keyboard, yet trying to. Sick
@@CarlosQuesadaR ouch...I can imagine 🤦🏻♂️
Thank you so much for this video! I am currently doing a flight and noticed that I had been having some "issues" with the parking brake while taxiing. I was able to somehow get it working again and took off without issues. I am currently mid-flight and came across your video. Stress releived!
Full pressure to set. Full pressure will automatically release a set brake, also.
My god! Thank you!!!!!! The Parking break has been a nightmare for me since learning the 737, I had the spam the brake and parking break buttons to get it to work, this video sums up perfectly, how to do it with stress, thank you!
Glad to hear you got it working Peter! A lot of very helpful information like this can also be found in the introductionmanual by the way.
Thanks for that I wondered what was happening since the latest update now I know very useful tip.
After fumbling around with this for months, ultimately always getting them off, but not understanding exactly what was happening. Glad I saw this past vid.
Danke für die unfassbar schnellen Updates zu solchen für Laien wichtigen Infos.
Haha, I'm so glad I found this video a few minutes into having this problem. Here I thought there was some kind of glitch. Turns out PMDG is just making the aircraft behave the way it should. Thanks for the video!
Glad I could help!
Keep up these videos, they are very interesting
Everything that is closer to "the real thing" is always very welcome to me. So I love the changes! This was a great update for the 700!
I fly the pmdg 777 on p3d (impatiently waiting for the one in MSFS) and it's always frustrating when I just can't set the parking brakes while pressing the brake pedals because by doing that on the current version you would just release the parking brake immediately so this update is well welcome for me!
Thank you. I had to work that one out. Also, if it hadn’t been done already, it might be good to show a quick video on how to update the airac in the 736 by copying the NavData and SidStars folder from the 737, removing the old NavData and SidStars folder in the 736, and copying the two 737 folders with the other folders under “config”. I remember having to do the same in P3D.
In fact I did that yesterday already ;-)
OK for us paupers without rudder/brake pedals. For me and my Thrustmaster T.16000m starting with parking brakes on - pressing and holding the brakes (not parking brake) for 2+ seconds disengages the parking brake. Hold the brakes again for 2+ seconds and with it held press the parking brake button and the parking brake is back engaged.
OH, did the update couldn't release the parking brake as usual .
How are we supposed to know this didn't see any release notes on this.
Thinking the sim was broken did a complete reinstall but now i know.
MARVELOUS.
There were release notes posted in PMDGs forums.
@@A330Driver Would it be too much trouble for this to be mentioned in the PMDG operations page without going to forums.
This is unsatisfactory and rediculas.
Come on PMPG.
Just re installed the update and i don't like it anyway of doing anything about it apart from reinstall?.
All hail the precision. It's nice to see this implemented to match how it works in the real world. Especially when other payware aircraft (and even a freeware) have had it implemented for a while.
thank you so much about this video i almost make a ticket about that but now i know thank you so much for you help
Thnx. I was struggle with this haha
i still am
downloaded my PMDG Operation Center bud it wont open it loads for some seconds and after that it just closes and when i reopen it it says that its already running idk what to do next??
Contact the PMDG support on support.pmdg.com
Much needed information unveil, else I tought my hardware is broken LoL
I like the accuracy. thank you PMDG. make it like the real thing.
Hey would be nice If you could do a Video regarding Hot Weather Ops
Great content
Thanks! Now I know why the mysterious way of parking break on 737!
Funny that you call it mysterious, to a real life non-airbus pilot it's exactly the other way round: The way it works in FS is mysterious, that's not how you set a parking brake. LOL
@@A330Driver No wonder the brake refuse to engage on 1st press, only upon 2nd or 3rd press does the brake engage. Its like the manual lock on the door, close it first then lock it in place.
It is very valuable information and as Andy Ivey told. PMDG should be post this in the forum or in the manuals. After 3-4 weeks I find this YT video. TCA Quadrant captain set is not working with choice of button. Only with rudder.
Hi Leo, it is right in the forums and manuals already.
Check page 37 of the introduction manual.
Great explanation about parking brake. You changed Cut Off switches design from old to new but how to set up in MSFS to make them work?
Lets hope we will have the option to choose whether or not to have this feature.
I just finished streaming and couldnt get it to work. Meant that I had to hold brakes all the way on. If only the is came out before then 😂
It would have been in the manuals, release notes and changelog as well ;-)
But I figured most people don't read them, that's why I created this video.
@@A330Driver Manuals aren’t necessary. Got the flow down pat 😎😂
When I land and put on the brakes the parking brake enguages??? I can't taxi and touch the brakes or the parking brake comes on. Aggervating!!
wonderful, thank you!
thnk you!!!
Question: How does the releasing parking brake mechanic work if when engaged the parking brake I pressed full toe brakes in.
How does that work in real life with the pedals IF they are already all the way in?
This doesn't work on my sim. Like many on the forum the parking brake system is refusing to work.
Thank you.
Welcome!
Good info !
Hi. Thanks for the explanation. One thing I'd like to add, that wasn't mentioned in the video, is that there's a red light indicator that turns on or off letting you know if it's engaged or disengaged. I was wondering why the light never turned on in the past since I was always using (Control + . ) It only came on when I used my TPR pedal brakes and then clicked the brake lever with the mouse as you showed us. So there's a glitch with the MSFS shortcut when using (Control + . ) which makes the lever move but you don't know if engaged or disengaged, the correct animation of the lever does not work with the keyboard shortcut. This needs to be fixed as the position of the lever does not behave properly as when using the pedal brakes and clicking the parking lever with the mouse. Anyway thank you much for showing me something new :)
To set brakes push and hold brake pedals, set parking brake lever. To release step on brakes...done
vielen Dank for your amazing videos. would you plz explain when you use the FLT of the starter switch.
I try this and it's work when i playwith 737-800 & 737-900, but when i try 737-600 & 737-700 it's always fail.
Can you help?
Anyway that I could get it to work without rudder pedals. The method in the video isn't working too well
Thank you, Only purchased the 737 600 and could'nt find any info on this change...
Hi Joe,
you would find this written in the introdcution manual, I can certainly recommend reading it, there are lots of very useful information in it! Maybe take the plane out for a two hour ride and spend the time enroute reading. You won't regret it!
Cheers
@@A330Driver thanks for the advce. Will definitely do that later.
Not working for me. I keep pressing the brakes and can see the pedals going down but when i click on the parking brakes it does not work.....been fighting for ours with this it is so frustrating......I don't understand what is wrong. the brakes are on but the parking brakes wont move....
Then your joystick doesn't give you 100% braking application but maybe only 95%. Check your settings and calibration and make sure you get 100% braking from your stick.
@@A330Driver Thanks for your reply. I have literally just installed MSFS and my joystick has been recognised. When I go to the sensitivity tab there are all the commands but not the brakes...when I use the toe brakes with the keyboard, the parking brakes is still not engaging. I can see it move but not lock into position.
it is just a suggestion. However, I watched again your great tutorial and would be lot more help if you are zoom in the FMC OR say what buttons are selecting on the FMC to make change the parking brake shape.
Thank you for this. I was thinking, what's up with brake lever.
No problem 👍
What does press the keyboard supposed to mean
I have a virtualfly ruddo+ and this doesn't work The toe brakes are properly applied but lever does not stay in position (even after applying toe brakes for a few seconds)..
Have you checked the devices calibration? As long as the correct brake input is sent to the sim it will work, regardless whichever hardware one uses. I'd therefore check that indeed your pedals are able to send 100% input.
@@A330Driver thanks for checking back. Yes, it is sending 100% input. If I press the toebrakes than then try to engage the parking brake it's asifit wants to always stay disengaged. I can keep the parking brake key pressed and see the lever move and red light on but the moment I release the key it disengages. All that while stand g on the toe brakes. Not sure what's happening.
Actually... It was indeed a calibration issue. I had 100% in vf app but not in msfs. Fixed now.
perfecto!!!
how many applicatins of brake pedals can you aplly in PMDG when sys hydyraucilcs B is inoparative and pressure is in green band?
Merci beaucoup sir ! 👍
I just bought the 737 product, and I don't seem to put the parking break on. I use a ps4 controller please help
this is absolutly not working to me since i buy this airplan the braiks ar bugging i press the pedall and try the parkingbrak pull but dosent work for me :(
Maybe your joystick is not configured correctly. You need full scale deflection of the brakes to set the parking brake, if you’ve got less than full scale it will not work.
If that doesn’t help contact PMDGs support.
not work !!!
Not gonna lie, I had to check my joystick assignment to see if its still the same😂
NOPE still doesn't work. Been trying to figure this one out since the update. I have followed all the tutorials. I'm holding my toe brakes in for 2,3,5,8 seconds and the brake wont set. Yes the brake latch moves and the light turns red but it wont stick or stay on. It goes right back to disengaged. So I cant set the brake no matter what. I have reset the settings with my thrustmaster pedals and unassigned all features. I have reinstalled the aircraft but still nothing. I think PMDG needs to make this feature and option because it worked great before. Some forums are recommending to change settings in FSUIPC but I don't know where to go in FSUIPC to make changes as I don't see a parking brake in therer. To say this has been beyond frustrating is an understatement.
Update: I figure it out but it’s so janky. Annoying feature. Sometimes it locks and somtimes it doesn’t. You have to get it just right.
Check your axis calibration to ensure your hardware actually sends 100% braking power to the sim when your pedals are fully depressed. That's been the primary reason I found so far why people couldn't set the parking brake after the update.
i still cannot release it... what am i doing wrong !
Oh my god, thank you SO MUCH!!!! I think my plane is broken😅
The simulation world have to address these updates. There’s no way that ALL persons have time to dig into other contents or read long statements from developers. I know that simulation is a “time draining” passion, but should be nuances, especially for important changes.
Realism isn’t needed to this level for the brake lever IMO.
Not needed, but still very nice. I wouldn't complain about any added features that add to realism.
Why not? It's all about simulating the real thing. I'd want everything as real as possible.
@@ChrisCokeRobinson Agreed.
@@ChrisCokeRobinson exactly so focus. Energy on the SDK release not on this..
We have this brake realism on zibo on xp for years now and everyone is happy with that.
Have you had any issues with over-stressing the aircraft on rotation? Since the update I have tried flying twice and it occurred both times.
I click more than 2 seconds and it goes again to the original position...
Then your brakes aren't calibrated and don't apply 100%.
@@A330Driver I calibrated them. More than 5 seconds solves the problem, but then I cannot return to the other position with parking brakes off...
Not worked after update version!
If you have a "set parking brake" it is extremely stupid to not have a "release parking brake"!
Just do it like you'd do in the real aircraft and press those brake pedals.
Это не работает !!!!
OK this i didn t need. I think it s ridiculous. Not everyone has break pedals. I don t. And I can tell you that holding the joystick assigned button for 2 seconds doesn t work for me. Why make things more complicated?
Why buy a study level airliner if you want simified systems?
You can always get the Bredok 737 if you want novice level systems.
@@A330Driver Why be insulting to users? We have choices like Honeywell vs Collins, this could be toggled. We are off\on the brakes constantly on the ground, it’s not a trivial thing. Remember the German automakers laughed at American SUVs, now they can’t survive without making one.
When are You going to do a rec?
When Will You do a direct?
Tell PMDG this is unwanted.
It’s for the 737 Max
Why should I? It's great!
It is. I have always been wondering why it hasn't been implemented yet
Over🎁 🤪👑😘
entendi foi nada kk
Plane makers should let the basic commands work as simply as possible, the default way, otherwise it is really stupid. Thanks for the tip/video
I don’t know if you refer to the PMDG model, in that case if you buy a study level aircraft you would expect everything to work exactly as in real life, otherwise they would have just put the possibility to plan the route via the MSFS integrated flight planner instead of the FMC (I don’t even know if that exists as I’ve never flown an IFR with default aircrafts) I’m not a real pilot but every time I simulate a flight I would like to experience the real life feeling and this is what PMDG achieves the best in their aircrafts, if you don’t want that level of realism for nearly the same price you can buy the Bredok3D MAX or the Captain Sim 764.
If you refer to the real aircraft it’s not much of a deal, setting park brake on is the first task on the parking spot checklist, so after braking to stop the aircraft on the parking, before releasing the pedals the pilot would just pull the lever to “lock” the brakes.
@@quirimont9972 Hello, thanks for your reply. I actually refer to many out there, a general comment, even the Flybywire airbus. You cannot have a lot of settings enabled as per their recommendation. I believe not all of the people fly in your style, which could be the best one, but not the only one. I have never flown IFR, for example. I just think every product regardless of the developer should be enabled to be flown as default or as in real life to cover all sort of users. Thank you again for your comment and advices.
