I’ll have to disagree with you Dave on Booth’s book. Dreary in spots? Sure, but Booth didn’t sugarcoat and his observations were spot on in my experience of living here for 35 years. You say this Japan no longer exists, somewhat true but couldn’t that be said about any travel observation book on Japan over 30 years old? Although the Japan Mr Booth traversed no longer exists, his insights into the character and personality of the locals holds true even today. One example is his explanation of giri/ninjyo when he passed the historical marker in Ishikawa prefecture. It is my opinion and experience that this book is worth reading for anyone interested in understanding Japan. Booth is British so dreariness is going to be part of package but to characterize the entire book as such is a mischaracterization.
Your videos are always so captivating and magical ❤
This is Nice I^o^I👍
