    Now would you believe it’s over two months since my last motor melt. I thought I would do a big one today but not my biggest. I chose this as it was the largest one I could lift safely in an out of my jeep as I don't have anyone to help me but what a great haul of copper in this bad boy. An awesome addition to the stack that's for sure so sit back check this vid out and hopefully I'll see all you sensational subs next Friday👋🏻Have the best weekend you possibly can😁

      A small trailer with a hand winch/boom rated at 300kg would be nice and it protect your back. Here in the states we have setups for the back of pick up trucks and they work well.

    The 3000 RPM (2 Pole) rated AC motors will tend to have more copper than the slower rated machines. If you can find them, get the open drip proof motors as they usually have more copper than the enclosed motors, that includes all speed ranges.

      Also avoid EEx motors, they usually have more cast iron than regular ones, aluminum casing motors are best. Remember that the rotor cage is usually made of aluminum.

    I so agree, coppers individual look is so irregular and so stunning I just can’t get enough.
    I actually used borax in my lacquer coated copper wire melt about a week ago and I was amazed how clean the bars were with absolutely no imperfections, like pitting and carbon from the graphite mould that can get drawn into it.
    I use about 1 table spoon per kilo and incorporate at the beginning of each melt.
    I also found it keeps your crucible very clean.🥳
    I’m hooked it worked great on lacquer coated copper wire and dirty wire.
    Thanks again Bstackd 😊👍

    • @cesare8270
      @cesare8270 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have been melting for a few years now, I thought you only used borax in Brass and stuff, but you can use it in copper? Thats cool

    • @heathstott
      @heathstott 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@cesare8270 absolutely %100 mate, very clean bars.
      Just try to remove as much as possible with the back of a spoon.
      It will build up on the back of the spoon as you move it around the crucible.
      You need to take it in and out of the crucible at regular intervals to allow it to solidify on the spoon.
      I actually have a bucket of water next to me when I do this.
      It helps speed up the skimming process.
      But ‘do not’ fully cool the spoon, only briefly submerge the spoon and be sure there is no moisture still present as a steam explosion is imminent.
      Just be careful.
      Perfect impurity free bars await.😊

    • @heathstott
      @heathstott 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cesare8270 yes get the majority from around the edge, you can try to work the slag to one side but is difficult. ( as it it very runny at those temperatures.)
      This will help reduce the amount, getting rid of all is not possible.. but if you pour slowly it shouldn’t come over into the mould.
      Give it a go, let me know what you think 😊

    Brother thank you for your videos, I absolutely think and know it saved my life, I started watching your videos when I was doing very very bad doing stuff I wasn’t spoused to, I had very bad hobbies and one day after I almost lost my life to be correct it was one week to be exact after that incident I was just sitting o friends, family lived far away me and my wife wasn’t doing to good I was just completely drained and didn’t know what to do, one thing I knew for sure is that I still have purpose on this world because of how the incident happened and how everything went down and hours before the incident this one restaurant was open and something in the restaurant happened and they closed down for the night, so my friend came to my room and asked my wife where I was and she said that she didn’t know than she said that she was looking for me too and can’t find me for 2 hours now than my friend came out of the room and seen lights In My car that’s how he found me if that restaurant was open and didn’t close I would be dead and not here, before we went on the trip before we left the house I prayed in the car never did that before and how something happened in the restaurant so they could close down that’s why I believe that there is still purpose for me in this world other wise I wouldn’t be here writing this text, I went thru some horrible time almost lost my wife my kids, so I was sitting home one time thinking and said God I know you have purpose for me because of you the way things happened I’m still here, and it’s all during the pandemic every one is afraid of each other no body talking to each other that threw me in depression no job, no friends, family and some friends are living far away from me it was almost got bad again I almost lost it again, so I was sitting talking to my self talking to God than I lit a cigarette and open TH-cam the first video I watched was #bigstackDCasting and I used to scrap metal so I had quite a bit of copper, aluminum and brass and BROTHER thanks to you for your videos it gave me a new hobby I was excited it literally changed my life, my wife was like what got in to you why you so excited all of a sudden, she thought I was doing bad again and I explain it to her and she helped me get a melting pot and everything I needed to do what you do and it changed my life saved my life, I’ve been doing very good, I dropped all the bad habits and went in and got help and now doing very good I got a job now family doing amazing relationships with wife and kids is amazing and every time after work if I have time I’m melting, so big thank you my Brother I’m so glad I came a cross your videos, anyway thank you a lot and so sorry for the big and long comment. Once again your videos are amazing.

    Damn, I was close on the copper weight but messed up thinking the casing was aluminum. Great melt as always, BigStackD, this is the best way to start the weekend with a melt! I hope you’re doing well down under, mate!

    25:32 thank you! One of my favorite parts of each video. But you always have me wondering, how much was the scrap motor from the scrap yard? Are these melts at all profitable? As a hobby is it enough to offset the cost of gas, molds, crucible, etc? Cheers from California!
