I broke my neck about 6 years ago. I used to skydive for a living and surfed everyday. life has never been the same. Everything I loved doing was gone overnight. Those things defined me as well so when I lost them I lost myself. I hate to be a downer but watching videos like this get me super pumped at first then I just go into depression. I'm currently chocked full of injuries. I need 3 surgeries to repair my back, knee and rotator cuff. I totally feel what you're saying because I feel like I lost everything in my life. I'm not able to surf or skateboard or play drums or work. I just wanted to reach out to you and say hang in there because we know life is beautiful and this can't be the end of it for us. I wanted to acknowledge your post. I think it is important all the time to look at the risks and make the conscious decision to do the things we do knowing what could happen but moving on it as we choose. If something happens like your broken neck and like my son’s TBI (traumatic brain injury), our lives still move forward and there can be joy, love, energy, meaning, participation in life in completely different ways than before. We can and do go on. It’s been 21 years for us since the incident that changed our lives. I’m Grateful everyday that my son has survived and that his life energy impacts us everyday!! A path and a way opens for each one of us💚🧡🤗
I feel for you. All real surfers are brothers and sisters of the ocean. I can no longer ride but I have found friends that can watch contests and they value my experience and knowledge. I would value your experiences. Reach out and find others, brother. We are there.

I wonder how different the experience of watching this film is for people who watch the weekly vlogs vs seeing this story as their intro to Jaime and that N Shore crew? No doubt the filming, editing and surfing is world class cinematography but at the end after watching for years I felt sincerely proud you guys. I've never met Jaime, most likely never will, but watching this was like seeing my local friends get a win... proud like that. Respect to all of you.

You both shouldn't feel shitty or mind blown. The surfing community is smaller than you think world wide. It continues to grow which is awesome but still a smaller community thank some other big sports. Lets put JOB's subscriber number into prospective. He has 848,000 right? Guess how many the WSL has? 867,000. That right there is unbelievable. Jamie is arguably the biggest thing in the entirety of surfing when you take all aspects into account(talent, reputation, content, prestige, accomplishments, etc.) Are there better surfers in the world? Of course(except pipeline where he's currently top 3 all time and will probably be the king of the mountain by the time he hangs it up out there). But you will struggle to find a more recognized surfer in the entire world.

I don't surf but just wow - this is incredible to watch this for so many reasons.. Watching the video guys/gals with the big yellow cameras get pulled into a wave and thrashed around was impressive. Dedication and skill of the folks filming is incredible.

I’ve never seen any human like this guy. He was surfing nothing but moving toward the oncoming waves. Well it was the reverse effect of the last waves that came ashore but he’s insanely talented and has center of gravity like nobody I’ve seen. Wow man! You’re truly great

Amazing Jamie, Felt like you didn’t answer the question: “what is the reason you quit contests” It was give me the imprint as a documentary film and it’s wasn’t. If you will do it, it’ll be great, you have all you need for that. something more “authentic” or maybe self “exposure” can touch really deep and left an imprint. Can be really amazing if you’ll do that, real interesting about your life.
He is likely showing you that he loves what he does. A bit tough to do what he's doing if your on tour trying to qualify . Besides that, competing isn't for everyone. Seems daunting, mechanical and uninspiring imo. Hes found a way to be more successful than any pro imo as well. On his own schedule and terms. Still a lot of work im sure
you get us all psyced I am 62 still surfing skiing and watching you go to all the great surf breaks. i was at cloud break in 80s and we the first to hit Todos all my HB friends moved to CR and still going there. got to mover to PR and surf epic waves 6 years seeing you all these places takes me back to those times.

He is likely showing you that he loves what he does. A bit tough to do what he's doing if your on tour trying to qualify . Besides that, competing isn't for everyone. Seems daunting, mechanical and uninspiring imo. Hes found a way to be more successful than any pro imo as well. On his own schedule and terms. Still a lot of work im sure

you get us all psyced I am 62 still surfing skiing and watching you go to all the great surf breaks. i was at cloud break in 80s and we the first to hit Todos all my HB friends moved to CR and still going there. got to mover to PR and surf epic waves 6 years seeing you all these places takes me back to those times.
