Hi, thanks for the review. Have you also tried scanning multiple pages right after each other? And if so, does the scanner automatically compile them in one document? Or do you have to scan every page individually and then join them with something like joinpdf? Thanks.
based on comments on other You Tube reviews, multi pages consolidated into a single pdf document is not possible using the brother software he mentions with this bottom end of the market scanner.
Hi! Sorry if my question is dumb, but I have a much older epson that scans directly to the cloud without requiring a PC or a phone. I connected my DS-940DW to my wifi, I set everything up using my PC but I am still unable to scan without using the USB mode. It's also bad implementation we can't use the selection buttons when not scanning to a micro sd. It makes no sense to be unable to use that option. I think I am feeling a bit of buyer's remorse here and I might return it because I thought it would be an entirely independent device I could set up and use to upload scanned documents to onedrive seamlessly like I can do with my epson, but with a more portable form factor and more ease to scan receipts, as I can't use the document feeder on my large scanner for that and it's a bit annoying and slow to use the glass. 😬
Thank you! These are the time related questions nowadays! Something like is OCR working without a computer, does it need the feed of each side by hand or can you lay in multiple pages, and like you say: can it upload this stuff directly to a cloud like any mobile app...
Great overview! What is the difference between the machine scan settings and the scan settings? Also, I enabled the setting which adjusts the paper orientation to the text but it doesn't always work so I then have to rotate the scanned document. Why doesn't this feature work every time?
Biggest problem of this device is, that cant be charged by USB charger. It must by connected to PC, or other device, that have full USB port. So, full mobility is gone :(
Hello Dave: Any chance you have a tutorial regarding the software that comes with this device? I purchased an Epson item very similar to this one and I just can't figure out the software. I've made the purchase of this one through you link with the hopes that the software for the Brother scanner is more intuitive.....
well done. Just the facts. Just the way I like it. UPDATE. After watch some other Vids on YT. This one is by far the best one on this scanner. Thanks for this.
Can someone tells me how is the charging supposed to function?Should it blink while charging or it just turns from red to green? How much can you scan with a full battery? How long does it take for the battery to be fully charged?
While using the SD card option, can you create multiple page PDG files? I noticed that after each scan a separate pdf is created. If I need to scan a document that has a several pages is it possible to do this automatic or do I need to merge those manually later when I connect the card to a PC?
Should include info about how you cant load more than a page at a time. Slso, how to manage the errors like a paper jam... wish I'd known these things sooner.
Assuming document width is limited to A4, is there a limit to document length? (i.e. schematic diagrams that typically exceed standard pre-cut paper sizes)
when scanning documents, is each page going to save separately, or all together in one file? Also, is this compatible with Legal size paper? Im need something that will scan 100-200 pages all together so I can send those scanning documents in one file.
If you’re scanning that many pages I’d look at something else as this would take a long time to do 100-200 pages and you’d have to feed each page manually.
So the specs for this printer show support for up to 72" in length single sided scan. However my paper jam alarm (the orange exclamation starts to blink) goes off after 14 inches every time regardless of what I try. Does anyone have any ideas? (Model: Brother DS-940DW, Scan to SD card, Mono, PDF, 1 Side)
I have attempted to set this device up for over 3 weeks now trying multiple times and every option given. It appears that Brother DID NOT tell anyone that the portable scanner only works is using somewhere with a wifi signal to connect the device to first then you can use it. For the non technical person this is a nightmare. Tech support from brother is non existent in Canada. Can not even email my opinion of the unit I purchased from them. The only way I have been able to scan is being saved as a microsoft image opening on my email account. I also can not change the settings to pdf. I also can not print as a pdf. So in a nut shell this was a total waste of money. EASY setup is the last this I would say about this device. I hope this review helps people decide on another product with better company support from whom they purchase it from. This setup video helped in my decision process and I now own something I can not use.
Connecting the ibrother app on android over the wifi to the device was tricky. You need to disable wifi auto reconnect on Android. Or Android will keep trying to switch back to your main wifi because no internet is available through the scanner's wifi.
One thing to note is that this scanner cannot charge from anything other than a connection to a computer. It has a proprietary USB cable that can only charge the scanner when connected to a USB port on a computer. It cannot charge via a USB battery or charger with a USB port. Seems pretty stupid considering it is a portable scanner.
I bought this and got it replaced with in a month as not holding it charge and the new ones seems to be doing the same and i had it charging over night what am I doing wrong
Don't get any of these portable scanners, not from Brother at least. The battery of my DS940 went dead after a year and Brother is forcing me to pay for the replacement.
I am not impressed with this product - setup instructions unclear, Brother web page is confusing, and I am having trouble with the machine right off the bat.

Just got mine and love it. Need to get some carrier sheets to scan tape receipts.
Hi thanks for the information. I have one question, i need to scan very long receipts, can this machine do that?
Clear & Concise. Thank you in helping me make a purchasing decision.
Clear, concise and good instruction.

Do you recommend this scanner for doing a zillion photographs? Slides?
Great video bro. Thnx . Wish you have also tested the duplex scan function as well.
Aren't you the same bloke with acoustic guitar tutorial channel?🤪🤙
Hello...How would you compare this to the DS740D? Thank you.
That`s all good but you forgot to mention/show us an important part.. The scanning quality
Sold, that's exactly what I need.

Great review. Just nabbed mine off amazon during prime day ($213) 🤑
Great video. May I know how about scanning a long bond paper(same width as A4 but it's 14 inch in height)? thanks

is it true that you can only charge the device via laptop/pc and no other charging port like charging brick?
Hi, is it also possible to scan photos ?
of course not! you cant scan photos with a scanner everybody knows that

When battery is low does it run with the power cable?
How do you change the scan quality when using the app on an iPhone?
can this be used for tattoo stencils?
Hi does this scan double-sided in one-pass???
Thank you for the easy directions
looks nice product but scanning 1 document at the time is good for 5 tot 10 sheets but more then 10+ sheets you definitly need a adf feature added ...

@@DTUnboxed Thank you! do you have any recommendations ?
can I scan passport??
I see an ID setting but I can't scan IDs because it jams? Thoughts?
Don't you have an acoustic guitar teaching channel too ?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
can it scan legal documents
Hi! Can you scan a paper using a long bond paper?
Great Review
no 2-side demo?
Do you know where it's strutting the file?
Does it scan with a phone via bluetooth? What if you don't have wifi ?
How do you match the scanner and mobile device to same WiFi network?
You don't. The scanner is the network, and you connect your mobile device to it. Sony's Actioncams use the same method.
Can it be scanned directly to your Quickbooks account? If not, it defeats the purpose of this device
Yes.
Great quick video. If anyone is interested in the previous version come have a look at my review.

Okay but how Tf do you connect it to mobile, is the key issue !!
Does not appear to have Bluetooth. Thus when it connects to my PC via WIFI, my PC loses internet connection. Maybe I'm missing something ?

hi, on android the ap iprint&scan can't find the device when it's connected in wifi-direct. someone has an explanation ?
too bad they dont' show how to set up the scanner DS-640, also the iprint&scan app doesn't work with this model :(
Connecting the ibrother app on android over the wifi to the device was tricky. You need to disable wifi auto reconnect on Android. Or Android will keep trying to switch back to your main wifi because no internet is available through the scanner's wifi.
How much does it cost?
i got it for 180 in bestbuy today
