Wild and Wonderful Wildlife: Javan rhino survival initiative - Arenga palm removal project

SAFE Worldwide just visited the site of our latest project, focused on saving the critically endangered Javan rhinos. With only 74 left on the planet and only found in one place in the world, the Ujung Kulon National Park on the western coast of Java, Indonesia, these projects are critical to their survival. The project consists of removing the invasive Arenga Palm from the habitat, to allow for other plants to grow that are food sources for the rhinos and other animals endemic to the region.
Unless more conservation efforts are taken, this species could become extinct in the wild in the next 20 years, SAFE Worldwide is committed to doing everything we can to keep them from becoming another species facing extinction.
