I know, right? I get wanted to make money off of what you're good at, but what utility does TikTok have? You can post full movies, documentaries, etc. on TH-cam. You can hold online events, promote products, among other things through livestreaming platforms like Twitch? What does a platform based around short-form content really offer? What value does it have beyond giving you short meme videos that people do generic reaction videos for at best?

And that's not even to mention child predation on the platform. Upper Echelon covered this a while ago, but you'd have streams hosted by underaged girls where predators use coded or indirect language to get them to go off platform, and/or perform suggestive acts for them. I've also heard of plenty of TikTok trends where people splice in illegal content to what they're doing, like gore videos, child porn, or the like. Due to TikTok's nature, you're bound to get pretty screwed up stuff.
And unlike TH-cam, TikTok is designed to funnel you through short-form content quickly that's usually just for humor or some other general purpose. I can watch a long-form gaming video on TH-cam, and get recommended other long-form gaming videos in the same subject space. However, what do you get recommended when you watch some short-form joke or meme? Even on TH-cam, if you watch meme content not tied to a specific franchise (e.g., memes about a new game or something) you're going to go down a rabbit hole where you get random videos that are hard to search for, yet somehow get quite a few views.

Plenty of parents are thinking of kids but if they can't trust the app that has been cleared by the red tap many apps have to go through then what's the point of even requiring age ranges outside of what's straight up illegal?

For instance if you say you are advertising to children there's a ton more red tape compared to saying you advertise to adults.
And then there's issue of collecting data on children. Legally sites like TH-cam or tiktok aren't suppose to collect data from children. So showing a graph with that data can get them in hot water.
In short, THINK OF THE CHILDREN. joke aside it's a very murky area that effectively force these companies to basically pretend children don't exist on their site.

In some ways it may be harder, but being a good parent is being an active parent. In their younger years it’s not hard to be a part of their social life and maintain some sort of control over what content they’re allowed to consume. As they approach adolescence parental controls on their devices are easy to set up, and imo if they have the intelligence to figure their way around that, they probably have the maturity to consume certain content.
The problem is a lot of parents just hand their children smartphones or tablets and let them entertain themselves without taking an active role in their kids’ leisure time.

Human brain consumes the entire video feed, it does not separate ads and non-ads putting them in neat boxes. Human vision is not made for viewing artificially generated pictures on a glowing magical rectangle, it is made for perceiving the real world and driving conclusions, and that’s what it’s going to do. So, yes, a coca cola ad next to NSFW will hurt the brand, immensely.

For the first time in the history of Western civilisation the yonger generation is not accumulating wealth at the same or at an accelerated rate as their parents generation. What this means is that the tradition of the 30 to 50 year old single person having a large disposable income has been bucked. Today's early middle age people are poorer than their parents were at the same point in their lives and have less net worth (financial). This will have a prefund impact on our society which we can't predict yet because it's never happened before and we have no hard data to use in our economical modals. The 2030's are going to be a wild ride indeed. I don't half feel sorry for the yonger generation.

I think given how toxic social media in general has been for the world, proper regulation of the content on it is pretty important and has widespread benefits for everyone. What exactly do you think the big benefit for society is from having kids be exposed to sexual content, red-pill bullshit and divisive liberal and conservative propaganda constantly? And how do you see things going in the future? Do you want the platforms to have no obligation to limit deepfakes, hateful and sexual content, especially when it’s being shown to children?

I'm a 1,1M Follower TikToker and sponsors pay me around 5-7K $ for one 30second + Video on my Account. For 9-15 Seconds its 1200$.
The app doesnt really pay well, but sponsorships 100% do.
