If you are looking to make wired surround sound speakers wireless I'll give you a few options in this video and give you my recommendation based on first-hand experience. It's likely you have existing speakers and you want to make them wireless rather than buying a wireless specific set up. This is more a Home Theatre and HiFi lovers space. There are plenty of 5.1 wireless soundbar setups you can get - we're not covering those here.

I'm in the process of rearranging items in the loft area and didn't want to discard a decent stereo system because it was corded. Very glad I stumbled upon your video to understand that I have options out there to fit my arrangement and keep my system. Thanks for the help!

The 1700 is a single unite proving 40 watts per speaker. The 1800 is a dual unite proving 80 watts per speaker.
It all depends on your needs.
You want to look at the 1800 model.

I have the amphony as well and I HATE it... cuts out etc so can you buy just another reciever because my surround speakers are far apart. Would need two receivers.
I am learning my around all this... Great video, that explains things well. We use our Yamaha (RN803D) av/amp to listen to music and also watch films. FIlms are connected to the amp via an optical lead. Speakers are on Speaker channel A. I am considering putting some smaller speakers on Channel B, and using your suggested wireless set-up to get across the living room. And so giving us Speaker A+B for music/films. However, I have heard that the signal conversion to wireless and back again can cause a signal delay, and more than 100ms could cause syncing issues? Is this the case, or is the technology "better" than that? Thanks!
I don’t have any syncing issues and because, if it’s for movies, you’re mostly dealing with ambient sounds that don’t require that accuracy. Vocals come from the front or front center speaker. If you’re just going for a 4 speaker set up but not surround I couldn’t give a definitive answer, only to say I haven’t noticed with with 5 channel music. Hope that helps somewhat!
Any info on max effective units you could have running at once without signal degradation? If I wanted to buy enough units to run an entire 7.1 system (maybe sans woofer), would it hold up?
I think it would and they have other units you can check out. I personally wouldn’t go wireless 2.4ghz for all units. The surrounds sound impressive enough but not sure about powering a full frontal line with them too, unless you don’t need lots of power I.e smaller speakers.
Hi great video question please if you don’t mind. I just finished setting up my home theater and I’m first running a Sony A90J 65 inch OLED, my question is I’m using a Denon 3700h receiver with two Klipsch RP-800F’S front speakers and two R-41sa’s as the height speakers which are mounted to the wall on each side of the tv cause I didn’t like when you place them on top of the floor speakers and aim it at the ceiling to get the overhead affect. I also have two Klipsch RP-600m bookshelf speakers on stands as the rear and I’m using the tv as the center channel until I get dedicated center speaker, there is a 10 inch woofer as well. Now the entire setup uses hard wired connections and I just bought two Denon 150 home wireless speakers and I would like to use them as rear height speakers to make it a 7.1 but so far I’m not seeing a way in the Denon setup to add two wireless speakers it only gives options for connecting more wired speakers. So is it possible to do this? Thank you so much

If they still aren’t working but are connected to the Amp I’d raise a ticket with Denon directly. Their support is usually OK.
Fyi. The model # is the 1700. Not 1800. I have just installed the Amphony wifi for rear for my Bose Acustamas 10. The new model is black and the amp takes care both rear speakers so you don't need a an extra amp for the second speaker. AND IT WORKS GREAT!

Very similar to the 1700 but has separate rear amps.

They are two different models. He has the 1800 dual receiver unites at 80 watts per speaker. You have the 1700 a single receiver unites putting out 40 watts per speaker.
So do you plug in the black Bluetooth into your AV receiver? I don’t understand the last step
Mark - thanks for the review. Question: Do you know of any speaker mfg that has rear speakers that are 1) Powered; 2) have a receiver built in! and 3) of course, includes a sending unit that plugs into your receiver and then transmits the signal to both speakers. If this is available, then each of these back speakers only has to plug into the wall and voila! Thoughts?
There is the Denon Heos which offers something akin to what you are looking for. There are other rear speakers designed to connect with compatible front units like Sonos, Klipsch, Bose etc. Is there a reason you want a transmitter and receiver? The Amphony in this video are powered, have a transmitter and allow you to use any rear speakers you want (within reason, up to 80w ideally)?
@@MakeLifeClick the reason I would want a wireless rear speaker is because I can't run any cables to the back rear couch, with this solution I would need to run two power cords to power the receivers, I don't get it.
Maybe a dumb question but I have an old technics stereo system, and I want to make the origami speakers to it wireless. Is this system a good option?
Do you have the model number of the technics unit? Do you know the current wattage of the speakers?
Any thoughts on the Denon 202-WR/WT? That seems like a pro grade solution.
Hmmm....interesting thought. I wouldn't have imagined running a 1/4" jack to speaker cable but that part should work in terms of termination. I'm also not sure of the power rating on the Wt/WR. Running XLR/1/4" to PA speakers is a different animal to a pair of small surrounds and I don't see any cross over of these units that makes them fit for another purpose.
Ultimately, I wouldn't try it but I'm not an audio engineer to give real insights for this one.

Hi Me - good question. I have limited experience with the Bose 10 V. I've played with them a bit but never found the wiring very easy to work with, out the back of the Acoustimass module. I wondered if you could use the cube speaker outputs to the Amphony but I feel that might be a bad idea so wouldn't recommend it.
I have just installed the Amphony wifi for rear for my Acustamas 10. The new model is black and the amp takes care both rear speakers so you don't need a an extra amp for the second speaker. AND IT WORKS GREAT!

If you have 5.1 speakers (Woofer, L Frnt, R Frnt, L Rear, R Rear, Center) HOW do you hook them ALL up with just TWO power units as you show in your video?
Hi Flapatriot - this solution is only intended as a surround solution for 2 speakers. It would be better for you overall audio experience to leave you fronts wired to your amp.
You risk losing some audio quality from your front speakers, where the sound really matters, if you tried to do this for all.
This is great for surrounds and still sounds great but I would do fronts with them.

Yes. These units just take the speaker cable from the amp and make it wireless. It could be a ‘dumb’ amp and still work.
This could be a a stupid question but I am wondering if I change the volume by the remote control would volume change in the rear wireless speakers?
Hi 3ziz1981 - no such thing as a stupid question. Yes, the surround sound increases and drops with the remote control just like normal. You won't notice they are wireless, it's just as if they were wired in. Check the description for a link to the latest unit I'm now using and recommending.

I’ve got a PÁ speaker with 1/4 cable inputs and mic outlets for my Shure 100 microphone. Is there any way to convert these to wireless? Thank you.
Not easily. Easier to buy a wireless mic.
Will the Rocketfish kit work on my two bookshelf speakers? I believe I need one with at least 80 watts and 8 ohms like the Amphony one?
For bookshelf speakers you really do want to power them correctly to make sure they sound their best. Ideally you’ll be able to wire them I feel. I think these solutions are great for surrounds but I haven’t tried them as a principle speaker driver and can’t comment on the overall quality. If the wattage is right and you can’t wire them then definitely give them a shot.

Confused about setup connections. Not knowledgeable about audio setup.
Have 2 Bose speakers I want to use with my Bose soundbar.
Amplifier. You need speaker cable terminals in the sending/source unit.

If it's just to power a height speaker then the Amphony would do it. You'd just run the speaker cable from the height speakers on the amp to the transmitter. Not sure if that helps but feel free to clarify.

Where & how can I have 1 for personal use?
I looked for this and I couldn't find it in stock. I went with the rocketfish kit but it only does 25 watts per speaker and my reciever does 80 watts per speaker. If this amphony kit was still in stock it would be perfect since it would match my reciever output. I get some really bad clipping on some really intense scenes on some movies with the rocketfish kit so now I have to find something else. I'm in an apartment and I cant wire speakers through the wall so doing something wireless is my only option for the rear speakers. I do see the amphony 1700 kit with 40 watts per speaker in stock but some reviews say its outdated and cheap. Apparently it comes with an iphone dock for phones that are 9 years old yet its advertised as a "new model". Is this really the best option out there? I'm mind blown by the lack of products available. I feel like I might have to just go back to a 3.1 setup
The clipping is a real pain at that level. The 1800 is fine IMO. This technology hasn't changed that much between most of these units. Mine still has the 2000's iPhone dock but it works. If you can't get it on Amazon, also consider buying direct.

@@MakeLifeClick Yeah I agree. I couldnt find the amphony 1800 kit in stock at that link sadly but I did find a dynasty pro audio kit on amazon for $180 with 50 watts per channel. Also has a sub option with it too which is cool. My rear speakers sound so much better now. The rocketfish kit was just not good enough. If I ever see the amphony 1800 kit in stock again or something with more than 50 watts per channel I will definitely consider swapping. Thanks for the video!
why not use a bluetooth transmitter receiver?

Just a small power plug/adaptor for each unit.
I no nothing about speakers or receivers. I own a bose v20 home theater system. I would like to avoid having cables all over my room, is there a way to turn those wired speakers into wireless?
Hey Eclips85 - I believe I’ve had this question before and if I remember correctly I just wasn’t sure the v20 could manage the wiring. The Bose systems have terminated plugs on the wires but the Amphony, for example, has naked wiring inputs (spring loaded). So if you can make those work, it might work. Check wattage too.

Yes you can. Although amphony have a different model for a single speaker if that suits.

No. The units manage the Wi-Fi on their own and the amp can be ‘dumb’ with no wifi or Bluetooth. Hope that helps!
I have successfully installed the amphony 1800 and there is a hum coming from my speakers. Have you encountered this issue and, if so, do you have any suggestions for correcting it? Thank you!!
Hi - is it a hum or a buzz? It could be you have the gain/volume to high on the units but if it isn’t that I’ve not experienced a hum. Unless it’s a ground loop issue - not sure if you try another power point that doesn’t share the same power loop?
@@MakeLifeClick hi, it is a hum and I corrected it by adjusting the volume. I also raised the speaker output level from my Pioneer receiver. the hum is still present, but not as noticeable.Thank you for your reply.
Did Amphony discontinue the 1800? I can't find it anywhere.
HI Paul - not that I know off. What happens sometimes with Amazon is that if it's out of stock it doesn't show up, and they often say 'we don't know if it's coming back' if there is no inbound stock to amazon. No. There are power points at the back behind my couch. This is 6 meters from my stereo at the other end of the room. You can even see the power or wires for my surrounds with this set up. makelifeclick.com/how-to-connect-a-wireless-speaker-kit/
What if your speakers are 100 Watts like my Monitor Audio BX2s?
My Fluance bi-polar are also 100W and it's fine. Check the updated product link in the description to what I've recently moved over too. It seems to drive them a little better.
Remember this is ambient sound and doesn't need to carry the full load of the sound stage.

Great question. For a unit like this you would just need to use multiple units for the front, rear and center. There are a couple of options for powered subwoofers - one from SVS worth looking at. I can provide links if that helps. Mark.

I prefer wire connected to surround speakers. At least I don't worry about broken power adapters or transmitter / receiver malfunction.

You could but not with any significant power. They really suit surrounds and height speakers best. As well as smaller bookshelf’s. If you have a big soundbar check the wattage on it. Yeah, they come and go and you can get them from different places including direct. Sometimes the amazon stock is just delayed.
if say i bought a wired set up . Could i not then bluetooth the sound threw tv to a wireless speaker . I want be able to chill in living room im surrounded by noisey nutters send me crazy . But if say one next door starts i wan to have speakers in bedroom to connect to my living room set up once buy unless i drill hole in wall and add wireless speakers . i been useing a logic set up 1 speakers works there sd be 7 . This combined with laptop blocks out the noise . But when next doors starts i have to have my music blaring so loud to block him . i want to be able to chill on xbox and when the nutter above or any start they all get it . Its this or murder

so they are not wireless they need an electric wall outlet (wired) and speaker wires also (wired) and then the signal drops or has a weak signal problem (unreliable)

They worked ok until they didn’t. They are a little pricey for what they are, and how old the design is.
