It always pisses me off when rock and metal fans say rap sucks yet there’s rappers like chuck d around who is intelligent has thought provoking lyricism but some How their music isn’t appreciate it
Can't agree more. Usually well-spoken and passionate. None of those "artists" that can't put two words together, can barely remember their names, and have nothing to say. They tried so hard to be cool that they are totally ... uncool. Usually disconnect after a couple of minutes.
I dont't care who you are, you have to love Chuck D. Every interview I have ever seen with him he always comes across as down to earth, not to mention the crazy encyclopedic knowledge of music. A true artists soul.
What trips me out the most about Nardwuar is that he always has something to add to whatever tangent his guest may go on after his question. Really shows that the obscure questions and references don't just exist in his head for one interview, he really knows a crazy amount about things whether relevant to an interview or not.
i caught that too. he really does know his knowledge. he won't cut them off but if theyre tryna remember , nardwuar will lend a hand and finish the sentence
I grew up mostly a punk and a bit of a metalhead and I loved Chuck and PE. I wasn't alone. The punk/rap cross pollination was real. Both were rebellious and political and sexy.

You can tell Chuck D is some sort of Demigod because he somehow used his powers to postpone (albeit temporarily) Nardwuar's freezing after the doot doot
Chuck D. My favorite MC, from my favorite rap group growing up. Always enjoy the interviews from the ones that truly love music. So much history, and personal experiences shared every time. Would be pretty cool if you could interview Michie Mee Narduar!
I know what you mean. It’s sad that right now the people who make money are Trap/ autotune Rappers and the Old school 90s New York Sound is getting lost. Not completely I just listen to Masta Ace his new album. Great Hip Hop is not dead in 2019.
I'm bringing ancient mathematics back to modern man My momma told me "never throw a stone and hide your hand" I got a lot of family, you got a lot of fans That's why the people got my back like the Verizon man
Jay ElecHanukkah You can keep all that "comment rapping" for yourself. That's not my commenting style. C'mon man, you can't act like when chuck d said "goup" it didn't catch you off guard.
Met Chuck and Flav while attending JOB CORP. Both came to the campus, sang 2 songs, Flav started roasting kids in the crowd and then they signed autographs. I ran back to my dorm, grabbed my jeans that I painted the P.E. crosshair logo on (among other things such as Calvin and Hobbes, Daddy Duck). Chucks eyes got big as saucers when presented the jeans and asked if he'd sign the logo. He smiled and asked if he could draw on them. I said sure and he then drew a small logo next to mine. #hazyshadeofcriminal

Great interview between two very knowledgeable rap scholars. Nardvark is so OCD about his closing lines and Chuck D kept blocking it! Hilarious! Gotta love the Nardvark.
alotta people forget that Hip Hop is only over 40 years old! so hence there are only a HANDFUL of ELDER STATESMEN in their 50s! Chuck D is obviously a Hip Hop cornerstone hands down. Two greats in their own respective fields!!
I've noticed that the majority of the rappers and metal musicians he interviews are chill or funny as hell despite their tough personas (with a few band exceptions) and so many of the indie bands Sonic Youth, Blur, etc. are obnoxious pricks

Fucking love the point in the interview when the artists realize that Nardwuar is going to be asking what THEY'RE interested in, what they love, what makes them tick, instead of the 10,000 previous shitty interviews with the same boring 15-20 questions about work. Could you imagine being asked the same questions about your job over and over for 30 years? "So when you filter the fryers, do you filter them hot or let them cool down a bit?" "How do you remember all of those produce codes, is there a method to learning them?"
Saw P.E. on a free radio ticket 15 years ago or so.....last minute thing so had no condiments with....rolled up toward the front buzzin....band tuning up....massive doob appears in front of my face!....looked next door, smilin guy nodding his head....band kicks off....incredible live....15 min Flav drum solo....at times just sounded pure metal....unbelievable night....

I love it when Nardwuar interviews mature artists. I feel like they have so much history and context for Nardwuar to build his interviews off of.
Wutwut1n1 For real.
All the young cats tend to get overwhelmed by their own gimmicks.
Agreed. Chuck D has a ton of knowledge of early hip hop and classic R&B and that really comes through in this.
It always pisses me off when rock and metal fans say rap sucks yet there’s rappers like chuck d around who is intelligent has thought provoking lyricism but some

If he had of interviewed Chuck in the 80's you would have more or less the same result. Chuck's iq is far and beyond nearly every rapper of today
Chuck D had info on every record he pulled out. First person with a response to everything, rap encyclopedia.
Questlove and RZA are up there too. they all know their shit
donnyinlakai561 DJ Premier aswell
trey williams DJ Premier just about the same
CHUCK D would know, he's the OG rap teacher!!
There's a fair few that ace the Nardwuar test
Chuck D's got a perfect radio voice.
Matter of fact, he was a college radio DJ during his time at Adelphi University back in the 80's.
He was a DJ at WBAU FM, Adelphi College's radio station and later for Playback FM.
He did a Radio DJ Role on GTA San Andreas' Playback FM
The voice with the muscles in it.
Just ask Rick Rubin.
He voice naturally had authority.

The way Chuck D asked Nardwuar to put the doll on his shoulder is one of the most unexpectedly wholesome things I ever seen.
You interviewed Chuck so now YOU HAVE TO interview KRS!!!
I'd love to see that!
KRS would prob be quite annoying
Oh he is
Cool, yet respectful. Wouldn't expect anything else from my man chuck d
Mo why would he be disrespectful?
I love how Chuck is so into music & it's history. It's fun for him, and he also understands the cultural importance.
I grew up mostly a punk and a bit of a metalhead and I loved Chuck and PE. I wasn't alone. The punk/rap cross pollination was real. Both were rebellious and political and sexy.

Charly 😂😂😂
It's great how he just walks away at the end and leaves Nard-dog in suspended animation
Nardwuar always bringing up Blowfly haha
Theblobbyshow Well yeah, Blowfly is a Godfather of Hip-Hop. Almost even more so than Gil-Scott Heron.
James Brown & Kool Herc
And Millie Jackson
It's how he relates to black folks.
And the Cheech & Chong records to the potheads.
"Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamp."
I always love when this happens. Two very different people having an amazing, interesting, and educating conversation. So damn cool. Thank you!
The short interviews that end up feeling like half an hour are the best ones. Packed with gems.
first 3 mins Chuck D was unsure... then he sees the realm of rap history revealing itself and warms up a bit... still too cool at the end tho haha
Chuck is a fountain of knowledge.
What a legend. You can tell straight away that this is going to be an interview filled with knowledge.
Nardwuar really brought a TON of records for this one
poetryjesus Dude...that's Chuck D! That's like meeting the pope!
The amount of musical knowledge between these two is just amazing. Check out Chuck D's podcast on the Clash. Excellent
I love watching Chuck D go from being distant to smiling like a little kid by the end
Chuck D. My favorite MC, from my favorite rap group growing up. Always enjoy the interviews from the ones that truly love music. So much history, and personal experiences shared every time.
Would be pretty cool if you could interview Michie Mee Narduar!
Yo that was dope...A lot of good history in this interview.
Legend right here, good job Nardwuar!
Thank you very much for this Nardwuar!!
Epic again N.
Encyclopedic. Sincere. Pinicale of Gonzo.
Nardwuar you really need to interview KRS-One!
has he!?
No cap
it's sad this interview only has around 55 thousand views and others with mainstream rappers are in the millions if not hundreds of thousands. FML
It's doubled that now. That's something.
I hear ya, this should have 10 million views or more, it's CHUCK D. This is disrespectful.😔
I know what you mean. It’s sad that right now the people who make money are Trap/ autotune Rappers and the Old school 90s New York Sound is getting lost. Not completely I just listen to Masta Ace his new album. Great Hip Hop is not dead in 2019.
People are fuckin stupid. They just listen to what's trendy and don't want to find out the history why current rap is even possible.
The only Guy if i meet him, i could be freeze by the emotion!

First interviewe I see getting away smoothly from the Nardwar freeze lol
If this is the point of these interviews: Chuck D knows his history. That was interesting, could have gone for longer.
Met Chuck and Flav while attending JOB CORP. Both came to the campus, sang 2 songs, Flav started roasting kids in the crowd and then they signed autographs.

Bring the Noise was huge for me. I was probably like 7 at the time. My brother and I would take turns rapping.
Great interview between two very knowledgeable rap scholars. Nardvark is so OCD about his closing lines and Chuck D kept blocking it! Hilarious! Gotta love the Nardvark.
Hahahahah when chuck D thank him he's the only one that made nardwaur break his pose
I don't accept gifts... clearly his first run with Nardwuar lol
As a longtime PE and Chuck D fan I've never seen - and I love this, Chuck so chill and disarmed.
Chuck D is what all rappers try to get to. He has the most powerful voice in hip hop history. I'd love to hear a discussion with Chuck and KRS-1.
Chuck D sounds like Don Cornelius
On sooouuul train and as I bust off leave a bloodstain, a bigger pain, bite of Rakim, you copy Big Daddy Kane, you will need vaccane
Man, I could watch Chuck D and Questlove talk for HOURS.
You know Drake doing it up when Chuck D speaks his name

Amazing interviewer
I love when ***** goes to Austin! He'll be coming back with the BEST interviews! This is EPIC!
Gotta give it to Narduar:
He respects music history.
This should be exciting
I've noticed that the majority of the rappers and metal musicians he interviews are chill or funny as hell despite their tough personas (with a few band exceptions) and so many of the indie bands Sonic Youth, Blur, etc. are obnoxious pricks
Weed.
first time nardwuar ever stopped during the end?
Haha yeah, that was a bit awkward!
Stopped what?
I banish the fake. during the "keep on rocking in the free world" part he let chuck d cut him off
Nardwuar stops at the end in his interview with Lil B

Great one Nuardwar.
This dude is a historian. For me, I really appreciate what he says... One of the Best
I like how he gives people gifts. And asks them cool questions.
I could be wrong but It was like Chuck D was smiling a lil more than usual n Nardwuar was slightly more serious than usual. 🤣🤣
Fucking love the point in the interview when the artists realize that Nardwuar is going to be asking what THEY'RE interested in, what they love, what makes them tick, instead of the 10,000 previous shitty interviews with the same boring 15-20 questions about work. I learned so much. Real hip hop history for real hip hop heads.
Chuck D interview=37 thousand views, Rae Sremmurd=370 thousand views. Sigh, kids these days
+PurplePandaClock lol i dont get the logic here , are "kids" of this generation supposed to know chuck d and public enemy who to tell the truth havent been popping for a couple decades. its like for example your parents or somebody from a previous generation sighing cuz you dont know there music
+Frank White
I agree that if kids today don't know who PE is(despite Flavor's mainstream prominence over the past decade)that it's not completely their fault, but rather it's the byproduct of a cultural mainstream that has bypassed a group that still records and tours but doesn't fit well into the made-for-12-year-olds demographic of corporate radio.
It's one thing to not care for PE's music. But to not even know who a group of their stature is,particularly in the information age, almost defies comprehension(and even more so if you're black or claim to be a hip hop head).
