- Have you ever wondered what it's really like living on a tropical island? Forever paradise? Well...
My family have been in Vanuatu for the last three and a half years and have many beautiful and quirky memories to share. I talk about what a typical day for us looks like, and other aspects to living here such as shops, school and recreation.

Hi Kathleen , just wanted to say excellent video. You covered all the things I was interested in. One question though. Whats internet access like there? Do you get good consistent connection and speed similar to Australia?
Thanks Peter for your comment!
In Vanuatu, you can have Internet from telephone towers (can be slow but somewhat reliable) or satellite (faster, however our dish got damaged after the cyclones).
Mobile data is more expensive compared to Aus, and you can go with Digicel or Vodaphone.
Hope this helps!
Very enjoyable but what a difference from when I and my family lived in Port Vila in the 1970s when the group was known as the New Hebrides. I found it difficult to identify some of the locations but I recognized the name Au Bon Marche. The store is much bigger than when we were there. Iririki Island used to be where the British Resident Commissioner lived. He travelled to and from his office in the town every day by small motor launch. My office looked right out over the bay, it was a beautiful place to work. In spite of the changes, I envy you.
Thank you for commenting! It's amazing to hear what Port Vila was like before Independence. I'm sure there were both good and bad changes, but either way, it is a beautiful country.
That's a longtime ago. A lot have changed these days...
❤❤🥰🥰🙏🏼🙏🏼👍👍🇻🇺

I used to live in Vanuatu as a kid, only 3 years tho - preschool and kindie basically. I've always considered it my first home, i feel really nostalgic about that place all the way from Australia.
One of the best videos I seen. It’s not romanticised. It’s real. Loved it
Thank you! 😊
I really enjoy your videos. We visited Vanuatu last year and loved how easy it was to get around, very clean everywhere we went. I got heaps of material to make videos as well 😍
Thank you, that's great to hear! I'm glad you enjoyed your visit 😁
Thankyou, this was great. We first went there 21 years ago, and have a new interest in moving there. This was helpful.

Can you record rainny day clips walking around neighborhood please😅🏖🏝
Hahaha 😂 maybe...
Yeap. That's Vanuatu alright...
malapit sa nz yan?
Thank you! very informative however I would never live with those house animals
Haha, thank you! We don't get many rats or cockroaches running around if the place is kept clean, but I guess they do exist and not everyone's favourite pet 😅
We just came back from Vanuatu. Absolutely loved it. Great people and scenery is amazing Haha, yes, correct about the pot-holes 😆😆
Is it easy to get a house or room there? I think it would be really expensive😱
Hello i have few questions) is Vanuatu safe? Can you walk in the night? from 1 to 10 how friendly people?
Hi there! I would say Vanuatu is quite a safe country. However, I would take the same precautions in any country, really. Personally, as a girl, I wouldn't roam around alone at night, and not everywhere is lit up with streetlights. As for how friendly people are, it varies, but in general, I would give it a 9-10 :) Hope this helps!
@@KRyanProductions thank you)
what is the weather like in September is it hot or cold wondering if it is still swimming weather then or not
Hi Amanda! The weather in September is great, and still in the dry season (so there are no cyclones), but it's safe to say you can swim all year :)
Great thanks so much for your reply
Thank you for the video. Really appreciate it. If by chance you are attacked by a venomous animal is there a chance to cure it in time?
Hi @plangiQQ ! Thank you for your comment. Treatment depends on the venomous creature, and I'm not sure about the availability of antivenoms. In general, sea krait/snake bites are lethal (all land snakes are not venomous) but they are easy to avoid, and stonefish and centepedes sting pain can be leviated with hot water. I hope this helps!
@@KRyanProductions Thanks. I added you on instagram to ask a few more questions but i can't send you messages
Dave and Julie Wood built that new ICC church, they were my pastors here in Canada
small world 😎🤙
Yes, they were our pastors here, too!
I've wanted to come and retire in Vanuatu however real estate prices are as high as Australia! I thiught it woukd be easier to get cheap accommodation.
Can you go iver the cost of if living and is it better to visit Vanuatu first to see what the real estate prices are like from within the country?
Hi @Gaiaempower ! Yeah, the prices for accommodation can seem pricey depending on where you're looking. However, compared to Australian equivalents on the beach, it may actually suprise you. I'll be happy to do a comparison and in-depth video on real estate and actual cost of living in Vanuatu!
@@KRyanProductions Thanks for the reply. Yes a breakdown of costs would be fantastic!
Yes in Australia prices have gone crazy!
@@Gaiaempower- Globally prices have pretty much gone crazy. It’s becoming a battle of too many people fighting for very limited resources now. Want a taste of the future… Ever see the movie Mad Max? 😮
Hello, how did u dealt with health care? Did u took any vaccinations? Or malaria preparations? I’m just a bit worried. Thank u
Hi! Thanks for your question 😊. We aren't too concerned with malaria. It exists more in the outer islands, but I'm sure you could get vaccines. There is also dengue fever, which is more common, but my family has never had it, and there are traditional treatments. If anything serious happens, there is medivac to New Cal or Aus. Hope this is encouraging!
I'm wondering if citizen by investment here is worth it since it does seem a bit more rural than I'm used to in Honolulu hmm..maybe if I could find a mooring or live aboard slip on a boat?
Hi @Hojson, I think the best thing would be to come see Vanuatu for yourself to tell whether the investment is worthwhile, and you can live on a boat here. Hope this helps :)
When I was there (decades ago) there was a standing joke. “How do you make a small fortune in Vanuatu?” Answer “Start with a big one”.
Hi I have to live in Vanuatu for about 10 months for work. Can i know what the internet is like? Thank you.
Hi there! Check my pinned comment on internet connection :)
thank you

R u still in Vanuatu

Alhamdulillah, freedom from devil materialistic economic system 😍
Vanuatu is one of the poorest nation on earth. You would never know from the attitude of the people though. Absolutely wonderful place to visit if you're not a bit soft...
Yep poor from money but rich from the heart smile culture and beautiful islnd and you will never see homeless in the street 🙂
There are plenty of resorts if you're soft! Of course, soft costs a bit more.
I heard a rumor that vanuatu natives will often just say yes to any question? Im assuming its pretty inaccurate but is there some truth to it? Just curious
Hi @AntiBlastic , good question, and there is some truth to that rumour. The local Ni-Vanuatu people are all different, and there are many who are very educated and can have proper conversations. However, out of politeness, some Ni-Vans who work for expatriates often just say yes to avoid conflict. I hope this answers your question!
@@KRyanProductions thank you! Have a good day

I would've imagined the geckos would eat the roaches
So annoying - like in Australia, I wish the spiders would eat the cockroaches! I am always nice to the huntsmen hoping they'll eat some of the other critters. I'm not so convinced.
Are Asians living there born there or moving there with families for other reasons?
Yes, there are Asians who are born here, and also immigrate to become permanent residents. There are many different nationalities who move to live in Vanuatu as well.
Where is vanuatu located??
It's in the south pacific close to Fiji, Solomon islands.. it's 3hrs flights from Sydney and Brisbane
