- Today would have been the birthday of one of Ray's very good friends and an incredibly talented singer, BJ Thomas. To celebrate, here is a wonderful moment with BJ performing Ray's song "Mr. Businessman" live on CabaRay Nashville. You are missed very much. Happy Heavenly Birthday BJ!

How wonderful. This song was a much bigger hit for Ray in '68 in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky than it was nationally. I think it actually went to Number One on our local charts. We heard it on the radio a LOT that year. And BJ Thomas was always one of my favorite singers. So cool to stumble across this meeting of the two artists. And BJ sound GREAT here.
Two of my most favorite singers!!!!
Played on jute box daily in 69 and 1970 in a lunch hall loved it as a young teenager making money and taking care of business in another words still waiting for some one t ask for my autograph before I have to have an epitaph.
Cant go wrong listening to either of these two singing this classic. Ray Stevens is sadly underrated as a great serious songwriter. Yes he’s hilarious but songs like this prove he is worthy of so much more.
Listening in 2024 - RIP Billy Joe 🙏
I love how polite and genuine a person Mr. Stevens is. I’ve seen him comment on a few reaction videos thanking them for enjoying his song and sharing. I’ve never seen that from any other entertainer.
Wow! Two legends doing this timeless song together. Thanks for sharing. R.I.P. Mr. Thomas.
Love this so much ❤
Delighted to see BJ and Ray doing one of the best songs Ray ever wrote and recorded. How blessed am I to have enjoyed the live performances of and met both of these talented artists several times?
Great song
I love when the saxes come in.
Wonderful, thank you for posting.😄
Wow what a treat to see these two together 🙏 thank you 🙏 Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 listening over & over
Kooky Ray Stevens was just as good in older age. Great novelty singer, but this is more a heavy social commentary folk song put to rock. Saw him do it also on Merv Griffin in 1967. Just a tuff song, tight lyrics. Yes, TCB is the motto. Thanks, Ray. Meaningful and very memorable. Vive les pop rock and retro freaks...
2 of my all time favorite singers. I grew up listening to these guys. I can't help to smile seeing this.
Rays best song it is a song Bob Dylan should do
Love this! Sure do love these two great entertainers! My heart broke when I learned of BJ's passing.

Sorry for the random approach you seem to be an ambitious individual which gives me the idea to know if you’re open minded to look into a new way of generating an income,
Sir Cliff Richard does a great rendition of it.
Cliff Richard did the best version of this great song. Just sayin!
