I'm convinced that Farvann has a twin brother 😳 But his brother is a poser. But you know what, this video is an accurate representation of the metal community, it's just nice to have laughs and listen to each other's music, it's awesome...
Because we have the internet now, back in the 90s, you couldn't just google "most extreme band ever" and buy some mayhem shirts, you had to go to a show, which you had to buy tickets for and most likely drive/commute to. Being a poser meant way more underlying expenses than today. When it involves less work, of course more of them will crawl out of the woodworks. "Oh yeah man, you know that band where the singer killed himself? Yeah, that's what I listen to, look how hardcore I am." Yeah, congrats on discovering wikipedia, dumbass. Maybe if you actually listened to some of their music, you would at least know the name of the band.
@@mach2223 Nothing wrong about finding out about a music genre via Wikipedia or Google. That's partially what got me into Metal. I wanted to know what classified as Heavy Metal, stumbled upon Iron Maiden and henceforth was an absolute fan.
Yeah but the thing is that you actually went and listened to the music and found out that you liked it. When you wear a shirt, it expresses your passion for the music. Posers just wear the shirts cause they think it makes them look cool. The popular joke is that Nirvana is now a clothing brand, since most people with a Nirvana shirt just buy it at hot topic or another similar store, and give no thought to what it actually means.
@@jayhill2193 You know, I have nothing against people who like music I don't. It's preference, I can't tell you what to listen to or not. I won't judge anyone for that. I might judge the music as being garbage, but never the person who listens to it. But when you pretend to like something you don't just to "look cool and hardcore" then there's a problem.
Only listens to metal but actually knows few metal bands, doesn't even look like a metalhead, and... "Uhm, you know... I like Trivium". Couldn't feel more represented hahahaha.
LOL I noticed that too. I tried getting my buddy (who is a big fan of Trivium) into black metal, but he's too... eh, what is the word? A poser? Seriously, though he just has a different taste in music. He's listening to Nightwish and stuff like that when I'm playing Ninkharsag and Old Man's Child.
@1:50 this was me a couple years back after 10 beers in a bands practice room. Well... Turns out the song was their new demo and they did not appreciate it very much :D
Grew up with this constantly in the metal scene. Everyone I was friends with listening to metal thought everyone else was a poser. Finally grew up and enjoying all the music for once in my life without anyone calling me a poser for it. Kittie and Otep are really good stuff, you know?!
Otep blows chunks, just "enjoying all music" makes you an idiot. The sign of an adult is when you like something and when someone else tells you they're shit you laugh t them and continue with what you were doing. Even if you like absolute trash like Ghost, you are still better than a lot of other people if you don't care what other people say about your music taste
But actually, doesnt matter what genre we listen too in Metal, we are all a big familie, loving a genre which is fascinating to us, if its black-, deathmetal or even metalcore or powermetal. I listen to everything. Really deep meaning Farvann, ty 🤘🏼
I'm reading through these comments and I'm glad to see many people posting they're new to Metal. I'm 35 now and somehow thought the genre was dead. When I was 18-25 there used to be lots of local bands and gigs, but now it seems that younger generations don't feel like being committed to learn to play an instrument and be a member of a band.
Hah I'm new to metal (about 120 albums in) and feel like such a poser sometimes. All I know is not to wear anything of a band I haven't listened very well too. Thankfully I can't afford merch anyway. Great sketch haha...
That’s about the gist of it. Don’t pretend to like something. If it interests you, check it out. If you truly like it and get a shirt, you aren’t a poser.
As someone who grew up in the Epicenter, ...San Francisco/Bay Area, Ca. I am very proud of how we are one family, one tribe still!! We are the best scene, support each other and local music!
Even though I'm a pureblood Black-Metalhead, i really hate the elitist scene. Black Metal always was about rebellion, not fitting into any kind of society and doing what the hell I want. With their "you have to listen underground shit, otherwise you're not a real Black-Metalhead", they're leading the spirit of Black Metal ad absurdum and I can't stand that.
Love the video man haha. I have a seriously pathetic story from when I saw Meshuggah last summer. So I went to go see them after work last June and much like every other metal gig, everyone was wearing a black t-shirt with a metal band on it, I had come from work so I wasn't wearing one, I had a bright yellow t-shirt with the word Cheddar printed on it A grown ass man of about 40 tapped me on the shoulder and said to me and my friend "what are YOU guys doing here, you don't belong here, you don't really listen to Meshuggah!" "Eh, yeah I do man that's why I bought a ticket" - I replied "You're here with your yellow t-shirt, you don't even have a metal band shirt you don't belong here" "Cheddar are my favourite band man I've seen them 5 times" "Okay well if you're such a big Meshuggah fan name three of their songs" So I named 5 "Wow, all their biggest hits...." Then I was getting fed up so I said "well thanks for confirming that I am in fact cool enough to stand in front of you" His wife was laughing at HIM at this stage Then he started to get a bit apologetic and said "well yknow, the real reason I'm annoyed is cus you're standing in front of all of us and we can't see!" So I replied "man, you are about 6ft 3, I'm like 5ft 7, do you not think YOU are in more peoples' way than me????" Then there was a very very long pause, I'm talking about 10 seconds, to which he finally said "eh, yknow that's actually a very good point you're after making" Then his wife said "don't mind him he's been in a bad mood all day" and turned to him and called him a dickhead. I wouldn't mind after their first song I turned to my friend still within earshot of your man and said "HERE COMES RATIONAL FUCKING GAZE " because I had seen their setlist. And that was the last he saw of me , as I jumped into the pit, so I definitely proved him wrong But yeah massively cringe story with an actual real life grow ass man gate keeping so yes Meshuggah fans can suck, as can a lot of the more technical or niche bands
Kuddos to you sir, you've exposed all the metal posers who think only they have a taste in music since they listen only true norwegian metal, and the rest is trash!Metal community is the only community where people judge each other based on what kind of metal they listen nu metal, black metal etc. Just accept people as they are as long as their taste in music makes them feel happy.Long live metal scene.🤟
And then there's me, a 1,50m small girl, whose favorite band is Babymetal. XD (I also listen to other stuff.) I'm new to the community and I think elitists would just laugh at me, but I don't care, I like what I like.
@@virtuaplayer7234 Yes, it is. It's a subgenre called Kawaii Metal. They are very experimental and mix genres and styles. So, all songs are different. If you don't believe they're metal, please listen to "Babymetal Death", oder "Road of Resistance". (The last one is a cooperation with Dragonforce.)
@@kasogamer Idk to me it just sounds like j-pop with metal instrumentals. Ultimately people should just enjoy what they like but I'm pretty sure most metalheads would not want to get associated with that kind of stuff when they say they are into metal.
Thank you for this! I used to be one of those douche bag gatekeepers. There’s no need for it! If we want to keep metal alive, we need to be more welcoming instead of forcing a litmus test onto people.

I kinda hate the term Poser as it's so overused. Being a poser has nothing to do with what kind of metal you listen to it's about if you actually like metal music or if you just wear a band shirt because you like the fashion. I don't care how extreme the metal you listen to is I don't care if your into symphonic metal, metalcore or slam were all metalheads.
I was working in the server room of my office hearing metal through my cell phone loud, because I was alone. Later on a colleague came in to work there, too, so silenced my cell phone. He only said, make it on again.^^
But aren't there some GENUINE "posers", and not only in the context of metal, but anything really? Somewhere, someone doing something MUST be some kind of "poser"... So how do we define this? There are black metal elitist posers just as much as there are mallcore posers (though in truth I personally would prefer a black metal elitist poser to a mallcore one, ha). Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one...
Metal has more subgenres than any other type of music, so it doesn't seem right to call someone a poser for not listening to the same bands you listen to. Let's say you're into Doom but not Black, and I listen to Black but not Doom, which one of us is a "truer" metalhead?
@@crawlingamongthestars3736 not trying to start an argument, but I want to know what makes someone a poser in your opinion? Everyone seems to have different definitions.
"metal elitist" dummies will always be around, but at the end of the day, metal community will always be the most loyal music community...... many commercial and even underground music genres died off, but metal outlived them all...... in my case, metal actually helped me get into many other cool music genres, I would otherwise never stumbled upon...... prog, jazz fusion, art rock, classical etc..... I always say to people: "metal will never die, because how do you kill something that was already born dead" :D:D metal is the zombie of music genres :D P.S.: deathcore is not exactly my cup of metal, but Trivium are great

Fun fact: Here in Brazil we got a christian metal band called Antidemon. They're so nice, that even when they go to play in black metal shows in Europe the other bands cancel some performance acts in respect, even when Antidemon's guys really like the bands. That's crazy.
@Euronymous Manson th-cam.com/video/ZGxmxJCmZ_Y/w-d-xo.html
Not all of it is bad.
@Euronymous Manson You know you are one of the reasons for this video, right? hahhahahaaha
@Euronymous Manson Rebellious? Yeah you right, christian people always hear what guys like have to say with all that argument
@Euronymous Manson Hah, what, not true at all. Eternal Emperor is a 'unblack metal' band or whatever they're called, singing about the Lord and they're heavy af
@Euronymous Manson all i can do is tip my fedora to you sir, clearly you are smarter than the rest of us. If i see you on reddit, I'll be sure to updoot your posts.
Hit me right in the feels when he said that it is all about the Metal.
*cries trve tears*
Damn, it's so heartfelt!)) And heartwarming, of course.
So accurate xD It's always been this weird mix of gatekeeping and unconditional love and acceptance haha.
I have been guilty of being both types of people.
Aw yes!! I'm seeing some new metal friends tonight for the second time and this video has made me more excited for that
Better than seeing some Nu Metal friends....
@@iododendron3416 All they want to do is break stuff and bounce in the mosh pit.
That last scene is so true though
I'm convinced that Farvann has a twin brother 😳 But his brother is a poser. But you know what, this video is an accurate representation of the metal community, it's just nice to have laughs and listen to each other's music, it's awesome...
The acting is improving but the ideas are fcking solid 10/10
@@Farvann You are too funny Farvanno 😂😂
Very good editing on this one
Farvann is gold
Dude it was the same back in the 90s when I entered the scene, not just 2021, but their seems to be a whole lot more posers these days.
@ippos_khloros In a nutshell, posers don't actually care about the music, just that they look cool.
@@mach2223
Nothing wrong about finding out about a music genre via Wikipedia or Google.
Poser is such an overused word it doesn’t even mean anything anymore
@Farvann Super kudo to the lesson the newbie taught to the two others. Thank you Farvann for letting speak the beginners in a music genre.
Poor new guy going from Trivium to getting handed a De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas CD.
@@Charles_Anthony If he's into Nightwish (Symphonic Metal) maybe throw some Dimmu Borgir or Emperor his way.
@1:50 this was me a couple years back after 10 beers in a bands practice room. Well... Turns out the song was their new demo and they did not appreciate it very much :D
Weel done, Bro. I really like the spirit.
I had to laugh so hard, because i have a Black Metal friend and hes literally saying the exact stuff u put into this video XDD
Great job!
Grew up with this constantly in the metal scene. Everyone I was friends with listening to metal thought everyone else was a poser. Finally grew up and enjoying all the music for once in my life without anyone calling me a poser for it. Kittie and Otep are really good stuff, you know?!
holy shit I forgot about Kittie... cheers 🤘😊
Otep blows chunks, just "enjoying all music" makes you an idiot. The sign of an adult is when you like something and when someone else tells you they're shit you laugh t them and continue with what you were doing. Even if you like absolute trash like Ghost, you are still better than a lot of other people if you don't care what other people say about your music taste
wait i actually didn’t realize its the same person 20 seconds in😭
But actually, doesnt matter what genre we listen too in Metal, we are all a big familie, loving a genre which is fascinating to us, if its black-, deathmetal or even metalcore or powermetal. I listen to everything. Really deep meaning Farvann, ty 🤘🏼
The problem is, you can't choose your family.
Metal isn't anywhere close to being dead. The music industry is just the most fragmented it has ever been.
Pretty funny at the end that you hand over all these extreme metal, and in the background there is a copy of On Stage by Rainbow.
Nothing beats Rainbow at their peak you know! :)
Black metalhead, and not a word about how Varg killed Euronymous in self deffence?
It wasnt self defense, Varg needed a sheath for his knife, and Euronumous had only his head to offer
@@rockflageagle3870 Gotta stab something. Euronymous just happened to be there.
I can relate that. I always kill for self defence with 50+ stabs too.
@Pavol Krajčovič saying 'bro' is mainsteam
@Pavol Krajčovič I'm not your buddy, guy
As someone who grew up in the Epicenter, ...San Francisco/Bay Area, Ca. I am very proud of how we are one family, one tribe still!! We are the best scene, support each other and local music!
You did it again, man!
Haha...you got it once again mate..luv ya work from Australia.🤘🤘
Guten morgen Frankie
This is amazing content, Farvann!
Why can't we all just like what we like, and live in harmony? I swear people suck sometimes....
My ears decide what music I like.
no likes except mine, yet this comment deserves hundereds
Gotta love how supportive our little community is Boys and girls 🤘❤️🤘
Bro this is the black-metal-level deep side of youtube! awesome!
The goth community can occasionally suffer from this as well XD I’m sure if they knew I don’t like Bauhaus I’d be castrated
And that was the last he saw of me , as I jumped into the pit, so I definitely proved him wrong
But yeah massively cringe story with an actual real life grow ass man gate keeping so yes Meshuggah fans can suck, as can a lot of the more technical or niche bands
Metal is all about having fun. If you're trying to be serious with it, you're doing it wrong. Posers! :^D
And then there's me, a 1,50m small girl, whose favorite band is Babymetal. XD (I also listen to other stuff.) I'm new to the community and I think elitists would just laugh at me, but I don't care, I like what I like.
Babymetal is not metal (I don't like elitists but I had to sorry)
@@virtuaplayer7234 Yes, it is. It's a subgenre called Kawaii Metal. They are very experimental and mix genres and styles. So, all songs are different. If you don't believe they're metal, please listen to "Babymetal Death", oder "Road of Resistance". (The last one is a cooperation with Dragonforce.)
@@virtuaplayer7234 I don't like babymetal but they definitely are metal. Just not traditional metal
@@sailorcat Kawaii metal? Omfg I want to die. Yeah I will listen and give you my opinion but damn.
@@kasogamer Idk to me it just sounds like j-pop with metal instrumentals. Ultimately people should just enjoy what they like but I'm pretty sure most metalheads would not want to get associated with that kind of stuff when they say they are into metal.
I've just searched for 'Die Toten kehren wieder mit dem Wind', thank you for another great recommendation!
Thank you for this! I used to be one of those douche bag gatekeepers. There’s no need for it! If we want to keep metal alive, we need to be more welcoming instead of forcing a litmus test onto people.

the right way to be brought into black metal 12 years ago. . .
That Trvium-listening-Farvann was so adorable
Very important message :) Great! And thanks for hiding the NAVE 10" in the background, hehehe! Awesome!
Can I get an amen?
I was working in the server room of my office hearing metal through my cell phone loud, because I was alone. Later on a colleague came in to work there, too, so silenced my cell phone. He only said, make it on again.^^
Theory: people who call metalheads posers are posers themselves
We’re all just posers in the end
Posturing is like 50% of being a modern day metalhead elitist. We're all doofs here.
I haven’t even seen another metal head in my city of 80,000 people not once ever.
They tend to blend in and not wear their vests unless gong to a concert. If you see me on the road, you'll never know.

Every argument on r/MetalMemes ever
To be fair though, these kind of conversations sometimes end with one dude stabbing another dude 23 times.
I always say to people: "metal will never die, because how do you kill something that was already born dead" :D:D metal is the zombie of music genres :D
P.S.: deathcore is not exactly my cup of metal, but Trivium are great
This is a bit off topic, but I love that Sepultura poster on the door
You are all posers. I'm the real metal head here. I listen to Beethoven.
I like how the two guys arguing are wearing those lame ass vests
From the vibe of the video I felt it was pretty wholesome and fun, some of the comments seem to take it very serious tho, maybe they all need to be a few beers deep aswell :D Metal forever!!!
You’re right. Metalheads need to more chill out sometimes. Because it’s Music, and Music is Magic which can talk to anybody if he has the ear for listen to. 😊
