The United Kingdom and Canada made up 1/3 of the ground forces that stormed the beaches in Normandy. Ike appointed Gen. Montgomery in charge of the allied infantry. We didn’t do this alone: the Queen’s Rifles, the 2nd Army, even 3000 men of ANZAC were there.

Danny Finkelstein seems to equate indecision with intelligence, when all he needed to say was that Rishi Sunak took fright at being called out as a liar over his £20,000 Labour tax claim and then took flight from Normandy to an ITV News studio in London where he tried (in vain as it turns out) to argue his case with the interviewer, Paul Brand. His team called Brand directly and gave him just one slot when Sunak would be able to appear - the afternoon of the D-Day commemoration ceremony.

I do tend to like Penny Mordant more than I like most conservatives, but I really don't think changing leaders at this point would help the party at all. It would just underline how broken and chaotic they are. Say you really like Penny Mordant and would want to vote for a conservative party led by her. What's the probability that she'd still be the leader even a year from now? If the party genuinely wanted Penny Mordant as leader, they should have elected her when she ran against Liz Truss, but they didn't. She didn't even get into the final round for the members to vote on, and when the members did get to vote they chose the less competent further right candidate. However much I like Penny Mordant, I don't think the conservative party would continue to like her enough to keep her as leader.
When you vote in a general election, you're voting for a constituency MP and a political party, not for a prime minister. This is not a presidential system. When the conservative party is falling apart like this, that fact really matters.

Later the PM leader of the party he supports showed a complete lack of respect for these same people that made front page headlines. He's been giving us daily updates on his opinions on the course of the election. But he has nothing to say about this? That looks very much like hiding to me.

@@robtyman4281 I am guessing that this is a bot generated reply and it has malfunctioned. Your code has correctly detected that the first part of my comment had the word “feel” and so it decided to disagree ( fair enough as that is a sentiment weighting and there is a fifty percent chance of being correct ) but you didn’t use a 3rd gen or higher language model and so it has the context all wrong. Therefore I say to the owner of the ai bot that replied to my message that you should take this comment and replay it into the ML engine ( I assume you are using a neural network ) and use it to adjust the weights on your nodes because this reply was a fail.

British people's views of Aussie politics are spoon fed soundbites by the Conservative party and right wing headbangers. Sending asylum seekers to Papua New Guinea and Naura was an unmitigated disaster causing many deaths. The Australian healthcare system is far from perfect - consider £1500+ for a root canal and, if you can afford health insurance, it covers 'standard care', so expect large additional bills at the end of it. Without cover, ambulances cost thousands for short journeys.
PS. My wife is an aussie and we've been going annually for 20+ years. Now looking at emigrating as, for all it's faults, it's far better than here.
