The bars are from the cover of ‘Crime of the century’ their breakthrough album. The hand and orange juice represents ‘Breakfast in America’ and the umbrella in the drink is a nod to ‘Crisis what crisis’

A certain look about them... thats me I have that certain, what my wife calls hobo Viking look about me, that I realize can be a little off putting to some, yet I love to meet/talk to people. I honestly strive to learn something everyday and at 55 year old, what I know is that every person you bump onto knows something you don't. Having said that, if you find yourself standing in line with me at the store or sitting near me at lunch or anywhere in close proximity to me. It's for sure that I am attempting to engage you in conversation. No one is safe from this as i speak Spanish, German, French, and a passing English

I saw Roger and his band (not supertramp) about 11 or 12 years ago. He was so upbeat and positive and the crowd of easily over 50,000 loved him and his music.

"give a little bit" is from the album "even i the quietest moments". the album cover you're looking at is from the greatest hits album ("the very best of supertramp") and incorporates elements from three of their albums, including crime of the century (the bars), crisis what crisis (the umbrella), and breakfast in america (which you already recognized).

Don't be hung up on musical genres. First it doesn't matter, second who cares if the music is great? The greatest bands cover many genres and they often overlap. Next Supertramp song should be Goodbye Stranger, a real banger. This song is the definition of upbeat, eh?

There’s only two types of music, good and bad. Good music is musically, authentically, accomplished, honest and true. Posers are phony charlatans.

Love this rock/poppy feel. The title track is even more interesting from this album; Even In The Quietest Moments! The Goo Goo Dolls out of Buffalo covers this song very well less than 29 years ago.

Roger Hodgson is still performing most of these songs! Check him out and also Supertramp's first album too, it's a bit darker.

Yes, more Supertramp. The 'bars' are referencing 'Crime of the Century'. They have so many wonderful tunes that send us up and away. Humor, funky grooves, and pithy lyrics that say something!

...and the umbrella in the orange juice references "Crisis, What Crisis?" - the album that "Give a Little Bit" comes from

It's funny. I made this exact comment about Wild World yeasterday: this song is on the short list of "perfect" songs. ST was so good at making complex music so damn listenable AND highly enjoyable.Spirit lifting song this one.

Rock, country, jazz. RnB. rap. ect. All derive from American blues. Most songs have elements of more than one "genre", in them. Trying to nail down a label on them is a lot like trying to come up with names for ethnicities. None can be put in a simple box and labeled. Like Billy Joel says, Hot punk, cold funk, even if it's old junk, it;s still rock and roll to me". For example, ":yacht rock" which this song would fit into, is a term that came around 25 years after the genre ended. At the time, we had Rock, hard rock, soft rock, RnB, jazz and country/western. It is only this generation that seems to want to divide, and put this music into different labeled boxes. I think you are trying to hard for simple enjoyment.
