Hey, thanks For the review. I since baked the tapes,, and reissued this. You will be. Pleased to know, I remixed it from scratch, and. Remastered ,as for many years I saved much of your same opinion. It is out on MNRK now, and hope it resolved the mix grief!

Good morning from New England..H.O.F. are so doomy and stoney I totally dig it...They got the classic Big Muff guitar sound and the heavily distorted bass...Stoner/Doom is always bottom heavy with all the mids scooped..Im into the genere..STONED JESUS is another doomy band from Ukraine but they have more musicality than H.O.F.- Overall a God pic...Peace from the Northeast..

I agree with how HOF mix their albums. I do the same thing. I think a lot of stoner bands do the same.

I appreciate your comments and analysis but I believe you unfortunately misread the whole song and/or genre. This is a stoner, doom, sludge genre, it is very much influenced by Black Sabbath. It is supposed to sound like this, it is supposed to sound thrashy, grimy, it is suppose to sound garage-punk-like, it is suppose to sound primitive with repetetive riffs. The whole idea of this genre is to sound heavy. You wondered if the artists approved this song before they put it out. The band members are the producers of this song. The band even won a Grammy the other year for best metal album, based on this very formula. So trust me, these guys know what they are doing but I understand that not everyone will like it, to each his own. Having said that, glad I am I found you channel because even though I did not agree with your analysis it was honest and interesting! It was really cool how you just picked up the guitar and almost nailed the riff instantly. Best!

I think you would like SNAKES FOR THE DEVINE by High on Fire. It´s a killer metal song.

i would highly recomend their song Devilution off thir album Blessed Black Wings, its a lot tighter and quicker. also the vocals are killer on that song.

The guitarist, who is also the lead singer, was the guitarist in the sludge/doom metal band Sleep. While I'm not a stoner per se, I really got into stoner metal for a few years. Matt Pike, the guitarist/lead singer, formed this band after Sleep broke up. That might be why the guitar took over when it came in. Haha

listen to the album "come my fanatics" by Electric Wizard. Its basically the template for all post 1995 Stoner/Doom. The recording and mix is rough....but so was alot of hardcore punk and Black Metal. Its part of the mystique.

My favorite songs by them that u would recommend is Ethereal, death is this communion, rumors of war, and snakes for the divine! You should should really listen to all these songs before you make a judgements on this band!

Never heard of these guys but I do like me some stoner doom metal. As for the mix, I think that's what they were going for, good or bad.

Heard of Sleep? This singer/guitarist (Matt Pike) is the guitarist of Sleep. His new project 'matt pike vs the automaton' is pretty interesting.

I blame the Hipster movement as far as these record companies pandering to them with faux 70s ambition in the recording process. For some reason rough mixes like this are thought of as being unpolished in a positive way. More visceral, live sound or 70s vinyl emulation. It's like The Swords album God's of the Earth vs Warp Riders. I still love these bands and there are some studio engineers that still achieve their goal but with a balanced mix. However there's alot of engineers being forced to work out of their element and should stick to what they are used to. It sucks when you hear a bands potential but the mix doesn't convey each band members part in a way that solidifies the song.

This doesn't even sound like the mix on the full length LP.

Love HOF but, this is a terrible mix. They're other material has a much better sound. All DOOM, all the time!
