Nicely laid out! Glad to see you're finding Obsidian so helpful 😊Just fyi, with the local graph view, if you open the settings wheel, you can expand the depth of the knowledge graph to show another layer of connections. I find that to be the most helpful step for making unexpected/new associations between topics/atomic notes. I share more about this in my topics v tags video you might find helpful: th-cam.com/video/sZxYau21D20/w-d-xo.html What is your PhD on?
@ no problem! Happy to answer any questions 😊 That’s cool! So like the way the brain perceives music? Or more on how the brain facilitates the creation of music?
2 days ago, the TH-cam algorithm recommended a video of Zotero linked to Obsidian; my mind just blew up. I have been using Zotero for a while, and now I'm learning Obsidian. It feels difficult at the beginning, but for sure I'm going to study your workflow in detail. Great video!
It's definitely a learning curve, especially because most of us are taught to think linearly, but once you get used to thinking in more of a network way, it's like the whole world opens up!
Thank you for making this video! I follow all of the people you have mentioned, but your explanation along with blog post was so easy to follow. You also have a nice structure of your Obsidian vault, maybe to make a video about that as well? Loved the theme, and the way it is structured. Also, another video about using Obsidian for note-taking and organization would be really great! Sorry to get so many ideas out there, but I really liked how you did this one.
So glad it was helpful! Thanks for the video suggestions - I don't really want to become an organization channel, but I'll definitely think of doing a few more videos because I guess this one was really helpful for a lot of people!
@@GirlinBlueMusic I meant to show more your workflow, because it seems that you set it up pretty good. It could be useful, especially for researchers in any field. But this video is great!
I've been thinking about what this might look like. @morganeua has some videos where she records and talks through her making atomic notes from source notes. Is this the sort of thing you're thinking about? Or more of a how-to format? Or just a tour of my vault? Want to make sure I understand what you're getting at!
@@GirlinBlueMusic A little bit of everything that you have mentioned. First maybe a tour of your vault (or a demo vault with your system), then your process how you take notes and format them in Obsidian (I saw that you use highlights, maybe you use callouts as well in some way, etc.), then how you use notes in Obsidian for Ph.D., work,, (export, references, etc.), or anything else that you think it would be useful. Even if someone copies someone else's system (like from Morgan), there are so many things that one can change to adjust it to their own. Then those adjustments can trigger ideas with anyone who is watching. I hope it is not confusing what I wrote... The point is you have a good process of explaining and it would be good for it to be used, for us viewers :)
Do you ever experience the Zotero search bar not popping up focused? I often have to click the window in the bottom before i can type. Which gets super annoying
Occasionally yes (or sometimes it pops up on a different monitor!), but it doesn't really bother me personally because I'm only ever importing one source at a time. I can imagine how it might be annoying if you're importing many notes in a row though!

Oooooh I didn't know that, thank you! That will be VERY helpful!
My PhD's in music theory and cognition! I like music and brains!

Thank you! I was finally able to set up the Zotero integration.
Hooray! So happy I was able to help!

Doing some prep work for my bahelore thesis and I want to thank you for your thorough explanation!
So glad it was helpful! Good luck on your thesis!
Lovely video! I have a pretty similar template, and i know how satisfying it is to read, research and then build off of it this way. 😊
It honestly changed my life! It feels so much more like how my brain actually works ❤
Thankyou so much for this video. It literally solves half my queries regarding this workflow
Yay! So glad it was helpful!

@@filip.alimpic Got it! I'll keep those in mind. Thanks for the suggestions! And I'm so glad my video is so helpful! 🙏
This video is a game change! Thank you!
So glad it's helpful! I know how complicated getting all this set up can be haha!
Great Video
Glad it was helpful!
a lot of great suggestions!
Thank you!

The Infranodus plugin may also be useful...
Don't know what that one is, but I'll look into it. Thanks for the recommendation!
00:20 Obsidian is not Open Source
My bad! Thought it was for some reason
The background music gets on my nerves!
😅 I get better retention with it - you can just go to the blog post if it bothers you that much
