Any mayday parade song with long titles are my favorites. Like "I'd hate to be you when people know what this song is about" or "you be the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground, i'll be the wings that keeps your heart in the cloud"
If you want more Mayday Parade, then may I suggest you react to either “Hold Onto Me” or “Miserable At Best”. Just as a heads up, most of Mayday Parade’s music is somber and emotional, so keep that in mind when listening.
Super happy to see this song on your channel! This song is a frequent listen for me because of the passion and emotion it draws. Couldn’t agree more on the fact that he is a great story teller.
I wouldn't say the moral of the story is telling children to never fall in love but more so, the father in this story (or any parent in general) never wants to see their child hurt in anyway.
Great song. For me, the advice and why he is trying to protect his son is because of the toll it took on him. Though it’s bad advice, it’s coming from the damaged person that is being portrayed. We tend to do that when our life is turned upside down. Agree with you on it not being good advice though. Glad to see Mayday Parade on your channel.
Jamie All Over is a bit faster and has their old singer as well. "I'd Hate to be you when people find out what this song is about" is a personal favorite for the guitar solo. They have plenty of sad songs as well "Miserable at Best" "Three cheers for Five years" acoustic version. By far one of my favorite bands.
"Happy endings are stories that haven't ended yet" is my personal favorite solo! Btw MP got together with lancaster for a acoustic session recently, check it out if you haven't yet, it's nostalgic.
I totally agree with him saying that you should never tell your kids to stay away from love but on the other hand I get what the “dad” in the story tries to express or in which situation he is. The thing is that the story is told out of the fathers perspective and the song or “story” is told bc the father cant get over the death of his wife. While telling the son to stay away from love he some sort of said what he actually tries to tell himself. So the son might just be some sort of the metaphor for the boy in a younger age. (This is just my way of interpreting but there are may ways to see it and as I said the reaction is great! :) )
By the time I was your age, I'd give anything To fall in love truly, was all I could think That's when I met your mother, the girl of my dreams The most beautiful woman, that I'd ever seen She said, "Boy, can I tell you a wonderful thing? I can't help but notice, you're staring at me. I know I shouldn't say this, but I really believe, I can tell by your eyes that you're in love with me." Now, son, I'm only telling you this Because life can do terrible things. Now, most of the time we'd have too much to drink And we'd laugh at the stars and we'd share everything Too young to notice, and too dumb to care Love was a story that couldn't compare. I said, "Girl, can I tell you a wonderful thing? I made you a present with paper and string. Open with care now, I'm asking you, please. You know that I love you, will you marry me?" Now, son, I'm only telling you this Because life can do terrible things You'll learn, one day, I'll hope and I'll pray, That God shows you differently. She said, "Boy, can I tell you a terrible thing? It seems that I'm sick and I've only got weeks. Please, don't be sad now, I really believe, You were the greatest thing that ever happened to me." Slow, so slow I fell to the ground on my knees. So don't fall in love, there's just too much to lose If you're given the choice, then I beg you to choose To walk away, walk away, don't let her get you. I can't bear to see the same happen to you. Now, son, I'm only telling you this Because life can do terrible things
Yeah at the end u hit it. But in my interpretation I believe the father is so heartbroken and lost so much that he wants to keep something in his life. So hes being selfish by keeping his son from love.
I agree that you shouldn't tell your kids to run away, but to be fair, I don't think that's the real message of the song. I think it's just a sad story of a broken man after the loss of his wife. I don't think it was intended to actually steer people away from love.

This is essentially the opposite of the saying: "Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."
Damn it I can’t listen without tearing up 😢

Better to have loved than to have loved and lost are words only people who haven’t truly loved say
Miserable at Best is Mayday Parades Best song IMO
Musician: Do you want to cry a little bit or a lot?
Me: yes
He has 2 children that are old enough to understand. Also a fast upbeat song by them would be "Nothing You Can Live Without, Nothing You Can Do About"
Miserable at best is awesome!

What do you mean original singer? Derek Sanders has always been the lead vocalist of Mayday Parade.
@@TheRevyr1666 Jason Lancaster obviously
"Happy endings are stories that haven't ended yet" is my personal favorite solo! Btw MP got together with lancaster for a acoustic session recently, check it out if you haven't yet, it's nostalgic.
This might be weird, but I think a audio book that was read in your voice would be soothing to listen to 😅👌🤷🏻♂️
This song gets to me every time! Love the reaction!
Definitely should do more mayday parade. Amazing band.
First time I heard this song was a week after my girl died. I cried for about an hour.

Losing love hurts but never loving at all hurts even more
