Good luck with going full time Ryan, it was great to meet you last Thursday and given a tour of your coral room. Everything I purchased is doing fine and giving off some amazing colour in my aquarium. Take care. 👍😎
Good luck with the business! You could fabricate a roller system but seeing the surface area you have 2 options: -doing it the swimming pool way. The cover floats on top of the surface. This will create a lot of water spillage all over the place if you roll it back up. -what I would do: fabricate a hook system at the end of the tank where the cover hooks into. You can then roll back the cover putting tension on it and hovering above the water surface. You would either need a motor able to provide constant force and not burn out or a roller system that locks into place at a certain tension.
A horizontal roller blind type arrangement, with the 1x1cm plastic netting (as in the Xenia tank) rolled onto the mechanism. T Slot aluminium channel, or similar, along the tank rim for the edges of the netting to slide inside. Roller blinds have a stop and release mechanism inbuilt, so you roll out as much as you like, and pull to release again. Some mechanisms can handle metres of roll out depending on height of a window....
I love the idea of you trading up a free coral for a black tang! I’m sure it will take a fairly long time (save that footage!) but the future video you can make from that would probably do SO well and would be incredibly fun and entertaining! I’m willing to wait. Good luck!
hi dude, the best way to stop fish jumping out from those wide tanks woulnd be a net. it'll have to be a fence. maybe 3d print some kind of detatchable bollard that you can mount to the glass edge and have a mesh spaning between the bolards like a fence. This way you can remove segments of the fence where you need to work.
Are you telepathic? I litterly though about your channel today and watched all your videos from the past 6 months. And now this one hahahaha. Anyway congrats on fulfilling your dream of a full time coral farmer. Shame of the death corals but you also seems so enthusiastic towards the future. Keep it going man.
OMG those black light torches look amazing, really wish I could buy one! Will be crossing my fingers and sending you luck on your next shipment of corals! Don't give up, living the dream. Cheering for you all the way from Washington
Try a modified pool cover. They have automatic ones to keep pools safe for those with kids. You could put mesh instead of the normal fabric. It would need to be shortened too.
Thoughts on your rolling top idea... use that mesh that you showed (clear 1/4" from BRS) with some clear acrylic rods from Amazon. Zip tie the mesh to the rods. have the rods stretch across the shortest length of the top. To help tension across the long length of the tank, clips could be fashioned or the ends could be weighted since this is not a display tank. Just an idea. hope you figure this out! Cheers!
I think netting and Baboo would be your best bet (or pvc) if you want to save money and don't care about looks. Kind of like the way a courtain works . I make something similar to cover my boxes Wich are only 4'x8'
I'm doing something similar with my bubbletips, I bought one , 6 months later I have 17 , sold 4 this morning , seeing how much I can make out of the one nem !! Lol
Do you need to cover the whole area vs put something round the edges, maybe sloping inwards so fish can’t jump up and over. Maybe I’m underestimating their jumping abilities but could perhaps reduce risk significantly while not eliminating entirely
Good luck with the business. Question for you. I fully understand the risks with importing live critters. However, do you think prices for corals are going crazy. Based on weird names, slight changes and they're rare so now they're hundreds of pounds. As a beginner it seems really daunting and off putting. Is the hobby being pushed for the elite?
Reef keeping is a nightmare you Go to sleep thinking of it you wake up thinking of it surely they must be a more rewarding hobby for same input or less🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤯

Congrats Ryan! The coral trays look great. Sorry for the loss of the acros.

Ryan this is superb news! So happy for you! Also last time I saw a black tang it was £1200

Wanna swap one for some xenia? 🤣
@@PrestigeReef 🤣 funny enough no !! , actually for some reason it just won't grow in my tank !! 😒 yet bubbletips, different story .
Re cover. If you can source the screen material get a local bespoke blinds manufacturer to build a horizontal blind.

Manual rollers that you get in fabric shops.
What about a plastic net hanging down from the sides of the top tank like curtains so you can easily access it and it moove it
Brilliant idea; rolling cover. I hope someone makes that a reality.
Congrats on taking the leep
Ryan when are you updating your website? I'm seeing a lot of corals that aren't for sale yet. I keep checking back. Mainly for the sps
Hi Bobby,
If you could message me on either Instagram or ryan@prestigereef.co.uk
Im sure we can sort something out
who made the tanks for you?
You are going to be trading for a long time to get a black tang. Just checked prices and they are easily 1000 US. Depending on size.
Feel for you bud. Such a shame there's no comeback with it. I dont think people realise how much business cost.
I can’t deny that’s a brilliant idea, I would of helped you out if closer 😂 so wish you the best of luck tho
Good luck with the business.

Do you deliver to Ab postcodes ?
It shouldn’t be an issue
Hi
Those who get to know their suppliers mitigate their risk they will …👍
Sell the skeleton as an ornament
Yeah you done great pal but you have a 50% mark up on corals as a cushion 🤔 not knocking you tho your set up and corals are fantastic
The build cost £50,000 there’s a loan that needs to be paid
I'm guessing a Pablo?
Ha! I was right! I have one too and get what You're saying about them. They eat so much and all the time.
I reakon the fish is a yellow box
Yes i was right haha
