Wow. What a fantastic performance of a wonderfully storied ballad. I hope we can get a lesson video of it in the future. Chappell and Hicks are inspirations to all of us banjo players!
This brings back such primal memories of sitting in the house my father was born in and his hard hard life in the north woods with the fire place in the living room
I love this guy, he even has the plaintive old man Appalachian voice for it, and the music is just imperfect enough to give it great texture. Just tiny stumbles, but it makes it clear that it's not a studio job, just a guy playing off hand, which i prefer
This is three years of playing, the overwhelming majority influenced by Clif. He's a big reason that I've been able to just get here. Watching him and Aaron play in their masterful ways is nothing short of inspiring.
@@blainechappell5383 yes, some serious work gone into this....and Cliff and Aaron probably had a 20 year head start. Have you tried Cliff's version of Sally Ann? It's a tour de force and probably one of the hardest playing tunes out there. Would love to see you tackle it.
All the best to you and yours Blaine, looks like you guys had a great time hanging out. Thanks for the song / ballad not sure which is best to use? Nice
You see can the tired and the drunk

This rendition sounds like it could be part of a movie soundtrack. Absolutely masterful.

I've never received a better compliment. Thank you!
I love Blaine's 2 finger picking style. It has the drive and rhythm of clawhammer. Happy new year and thanks for sharing!
