Thinking Cinderella is Disneys IP is exactly what Disney wants you to keep believing. Most of their greatest hits are public domain
Hillariously, Prinzessin's OCG name is Cinderella
@@MiguelMartinon what is hilarious about it Cendrillon, the French original, which is based on a European, mainly probably German-French folk tale called Aschenputtel, Cinderella is just the English word for Cendrillon.
@@lukaswalker2342 Aschenputtel mentioned!!!
Also the card art only kinda looks like Disney's version of Cinderella, since they do actually own the rights to that image
technically, the Stromberg cards aren't ripping off Disney IP but drawing from public domain content that Disney used for creating their movies
Yeah these are the tales that the brothers Grimm collected.
Magic literally just had a set with cards based on cinderella.
@@mauer1 Cinderella is based on the older french version though. The Grimm version doesn't have a Pumpkin Carriage or Glass Slippers.
@@TrueCyprien it's still public domain.
So Stromberg is the YGO version of MTG's Eldraine?
The next time the "D/D" versus "D/D/D" situation comes up, you should compare it to "Not all rectangles are squares, but all squares are rectangles." At best it'll be condensed and effective. At worst the reaction would be hilarious
I should’ve thought about that!
"It's like how all thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs"
Also use this for things like "tellarknight"
Or how Dark Jeroid is a -Roid monster.
And don't get me started on D.D., which canonically belongs in the same universe as D/D and stands for the same thing, but is not the same.
"You cant do that Kaiba you dont understand how D/D/D monsters work", cracked me up. I just imagined the dd players pulling up their spreadsheets and explaining their deck, so funny.
Haha same here, had me cracking up 🤣
That's me to all my friends. It's my favourite deck, and here I am going through the combos as if they understand what's going on.
I think it wouldv been better to say the full name that all D/D/D (different dimension dragon) monsters are part of different dimension, but D/D monsters (different dimension) arent all dragons.
@@MusicalBoarder It's "Different Dimension Demon," not "Dragon." The only dragon in the deck is D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon.

Huh?
No, your opponent still needs to control a Pendulum monster in the first place to be able to activate Super Doom King Armageddon's effect. Might be better if that were the case lol
This. Choosing the Pendulum is part 1 of the effect.
When he was saying that, I was almost sure that it was required.
imagine if the effect didnt require the existence of a pendulum monster.... damn that would actually be good enough to make me want to play D/D/D
I was gonna say lol, I was pretty sure I understood how it worked...
@@jesushentaichrist5362 d/d/d is already good enough without that lol, they already massively floodgate the opponent and setup a not once per turn monster steal which shuts down both synchro and xyz decks.
"They don't have any of those last Pendulum cards in the anime" he says, not knowing that every card shown up to that point was used in the anime.
He hasn’t gotten that far in the anime yet!
Asking for Dakki, The Graceful Mayakashi for the next one, as it's pretty much custom for the archetype but the archetype itself is terrible
As a Mayakashi one-trick, I endorse this.
For the first pendulum monster you ever see to be a synchro pendulum (basically an exception) must be insane and wild
i think its insane, that the second and third synchro pendulum dont say pendulum on it.
Even as a pendulum lover, trying to explain pendulum monsters to a mew player is such a pain. Makes me question why and how I still play pendulums and understand them
Also watch him freak out at Ultimaya or the Ursarctic synchros
The fact that the majority of these are pendulums really shows how badly pendulums upped the average word count on yugioh cards all by themselves
They sure did lol
I love the Suship archetype, because it really outlines a ton of sushi restaurant events and etiquette.
Also, Gunkan Suship Shari's text says that the reviewer gave the experience 4 Stars. What's Shari's level again?
Wow how did I not catch that LOL.
Also the 2000 units. Remind me what’s shari’s atk?
All the Suship cards are pun machines. The field spell makes your opponent pay LP for 'eating' the Xyz monsters that you prepared on your board, where the defence of the Xyz monster is the price.
Man, I know full well how Pendulums work (Endymion and Vaylantz are some of my favourite decks), and I could still feel my brain frying listening to the explanation lol.
It's such information overload, there's literally no way to really make it concise to someone, certainly not without more experience in Yugioh than Nikachu has.
Even in the anime there was so much bloat to the mechanic that the actual plot had them say, "I have no clue how this works" except through trial and error. Like it was justified by the plot of them being brand new cards with no known rules but it's telling that they used that as a plot point just because explaining every part of the mechanic at a single time would kill the pacing.
They didn't even figure out, "They go from the field to the Extra Deck, face-up" until, no joke, episode 8.
I tried to make in concise!
@@TheOneJameYT Credit for trying lol, I was explaining some cards to my non-yugioh friend and I could hear the gears turning.
If I were to explain how pendulums work to a magic player, I would refer to the Nyxian gods, where they are not always creatures. It wouldn't be the best way to go about it, but it would help imagine its presence on the field. And then the face-up extra deck part is like the command zone
tbh, you have to show it. Words don't work.
51:00 not explaining that its a Main Deck Monster not an extra deck after Nikachu was slobberng for 5 minutes straight for Endymion was pain
Yeah as much as I enjoy these videos sometimes I feel like he could take an extra moment to point out these small but crucial differences to save on confusion, especially in this case since the only Pendulum monsters shown so far were Synchro so it would be expected for someone to assume they all are at that point
42:03 I find this hilarious, because all 3 of those Pendulum Synchros were from the anime. Nirvana High Paladin featured in the Arc-V season 2 finale, while the other 2 featured in the Arc-V series finale.
Wing dragon is surely tier 1, the negate is slow and the removal effect is only on battle phase, I can’t think of any scenario in which you don’t get swept by ursarctics
It is pure garbage. It is also demanding to summon as it requires a specific tuner AND a synchro monster.
Cr
@@LexxusTheSpark And his bit about putting this in Crystal Wing (actually Speedroid) is false because Speedroid wind locks you heavily. They'd much rather use their non-hybrid synchros like Crystal Wing, Crystal Clear Wing or more likely everyone's favorite generic level 10 synchro, Baronne De Fleur.
If any card in this video is worth calling a tier 2, it's that one. Not only is the effect bad, it's also surprisingly difficult to summon in the first place due to the specific materials. And it came out AFTER Crystal Wing, a much better card you can always summon if you control the same materials. Completely useless.
i want to see them rate the ursarctic draw spell now
@@FishFosh I mean, it's an absolute target. The xyz odd eyes are better though
In Duel Links, there was a funny combo with Stromberg and D/D/Ds involving a skill that skipped your standby phase if you had a contract card on your field. It had no limit so you could just skip your standby phase forever, negating Stromberg’s banishing requirement. It was very funny lol
as DuelLogs have said, Endymion is the single reason why Konami is careful when it comes to spell counter effects, make a spell counter card too powerful and that card WILL abuse it
Like how Snake Rain stifles them from making good reptile decks. Just ban Snake Rain and make better reptiles smh
Golden Castle used to be a 1 card FTK back when it released since it summons Knight which summons Hans so it's a 1-card Isolde.
I think Isolde was the problem there, not Stromberg 😅
@@TheOneJameYT Shush, obviously the starter card is the problem, it's never the fun Extra Deck combo card.
@@nigerianprinceajani neo-space connector wasn’t the problem, it was Isolde the whole time 🤣
@@TheOneJameYTI mean the handrip didn’t help but
12:50 Yeah, Monsters that have effects have to be specifically noted as Effect cards, even though all Monster cards with effects are Effect cards. They do make Normal Monsters, but other than countering a few decks that specifically screw over Effect Monster decks, they don't have much use. It's kinda like how only certain lands that can produce green mana are Forests when you search your deck for a Forest.
15:15 The Extra Deck, AKA the reason every YGO player is effectively running Karn the Great Creator. You can also think of it like a Command Zone, but with 15 guys in it.
17:30 You could also think of this card as being similar to the Deepest Gods cycle from Caves of Ixilan, where killing him just causes him to re-enter as a different card type, rather than go to the graveyard. Except his second form is more like an extremely fiddly enchantment than a land.
34:44 The very first Pendulum set had monsters with different red and blue values. It quickly became clear that this was a bad idea, and ever since monsters have made it clear whether they belong in the blue or the red zone.
Please name one card which has different pendulum scales.
@@Pyroniusburn There's none in the TCG at the very least, can't say as confidently that OCG didn't get something crazy at some point but I seriously doubt it
For some reason, I wish there is a pendulum deck with cards that have different scales depending on if they are in the red or blue zone. So then the gimmick is that different monster effects happen depending on the scale number of the cards in the pendulum zone and 2 cards in the deck are 1 and 10 in either side of the scale that swaps position with the other card in scale.
Like
If the red zone is scale 1-5, then...
If the red zone is scale 6-10, then...
If the blue zone is scale 1-5, then...
If the blue zone is scale 6-10, then...
And
Once per turn, you can destroy another card in your pendulum zone. If you do, place this card in the zone that card was on, then place the card destroyed into the zone this card was on.
If you get Lorcanna people on you could show them Tearlament since they feel fairly similar to The Little Mermaid, especially Kaleido-Heart who looks like Ursula to me, or at least feels like her.
Castle of Stromberg is actually top tier because Yugioh players don't read and they attack not only once into your castle, they do it twice or thrice.
I want a new card-- "if your opponent doesnt read this effect, you win the game"
Please Konami make this
That's basically Flower Cardian Paulownia
There's an Umi Stun deck that wins purely based on your opponent not reading what Sea Stealth Attack and Pacifis do, I've witnessed people pop their own entire boards against it before reading the card effect and immediately scooping lol
Isn't that how Endymion decks already work?
@@EnbyOccultist Not an uncommon interaction in yugioh. I've lost plenty of duels by not reading one line of text on very specific cards
I think it would be useful for you and the contestants to play a practice match of yugioh to demonstrate and explain the different summon mechanics prior to the quiz.
That would be cool
@@TheOneJameYT maybe you can use the new 2 player starter set to perform the scripted practice duel?
@@wickederebusyeah that would help. That way they don't have to try to imagine it.
I appreciate that we went from Field Spell to 4 pendulums back to back. Glad you really eased him in on this one. Tbh, idk how anyone is supposed to "succinctly" explain most of Yugioh's mechanics individually, let alone multiple Extra Deck-related mechanics at once. Glad that the analysis didn't seem too terribly hampered by this.
Nirvana High Paladin is the final piece of a full-turn combo that ends in a Gigantosaurus, when your opponent will turn around with Doom Blade + Emrakul. If it was a "1 Tuner + 1 non-Tuner" kind of Synchro, probably extremely playable. Too many hoops for a payoff of extending a combo once you've already run out of gas.
Yep! Too many hoops
@@TheOneJameYT I explain Pendulum monsters as MDFC's in MTG.
I want to see Nikachu evaluate evolving/floating monsters like Yubel, The Winged Dragon of Ra, and silent swordsman/magician.
I like how he seems to think something is at least kinda good just because it's place is in the Extra Deck while cards like Dark Flare Knight cry themselves to sleep in the corner.
It’s a sad day for non extra deck monsters
@@TheOneJameYT should add that card as a meme maybe or Master of Oz
@@elvenatheart982 Master of Oz is the optimal Cyber Stein target in Cat OTK (Goat format).
It's actually a pretty good card.
@@nigerianprinceajani im talking about modern bro i know
You're missing the most important part of Stromberg which made it playable. Gren Maju. That deck would play it to protect Gren Maju if its effects got negated and the standby banish gave it an extra 4000 atk in one go
for ruleslawyering in the anime, i recommend the ghost girl vs brave max duel from vrains.
that could also make for an interesting reaction: simple rule-conform duels that showcase some game mechanics
Im definitely an outsider to yugioh, but I remember watching some people try like eBay prebuilt Turin decks and one was the suship shark deck, and at the time it seemed really interesting and kind of explosive but importantly felt like it was almost a beginners tutorial in how the mechanics of a lot of card effect and summoning mechanics of modern yogi oh worked, like I get it’s too slow and probably not very good, but it feels like the deck anime protagonist b would use to really show the mechanics of modern yugioh at an understandable pace in the anime, the way I think it was jaidan? Made the hero cards understandable.
Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon has seen some play in Silenforc, a OCG ritual deck. You can cheat it out with a ritual monster. Great video as always!
these pendelem cards must drive mtg players crazy XD
Lmao for real
imagine playing a game where things make sense and the words on the card don't account for an actual novel
I think Endymion is definitely tier -1 because sure it's not part of a great deck but he basically forms the deck by himself, he's an absolute house
I found it extremely that Nika ended up discounting its pendulum effect, with its extreme potential for completely reversing card advantage, but to be fair you can't really grasp how easy it is to do it without the context of knowing how the average Endymion deck works. Likewise I think James underestimates a bit how Endymion decks tear apart established boards without having the space for handtraps. It is a good balancing aspect to the deck, a lot of players were having insane meltdowns over it until Konami hit a lot of its cards, if it also was able to just stuff itself with handtraps and such cards it would just piss off a ton of players.
@@admontblanc extremely... What?
As far as I know, Golden Castle was only ever competitively viable during and immediately after TOSS format in a rank 8 toolbox Gren Maju deck. I loved playing that deck. Golden Castle for Hexe Trude, summon Orochi, overlay into Sanaphond Sky Prison, set a floodgate. Your opponent can’t summon from the GY, you have the ever looming threat of an 8000+ gren maju coming out, and you can get out another Hexe Trude and/or Orochi next turn. It worked going first or second. Solid rogue deck against everything but Sky Striker…or a single Lancia.
Nah doom king armageddon is not playable. The effect to negate only counters other pendulum decks. It's awful
I actually use Golden Castle in one of my decks and that is Rank 8 xyz otk going second deck, and its doing really good actually, i am gatting a lot of wins
Nice!! You love to see it
Odd eyes wing dragon is more of an odd-eyes card than a clear wing card, clear wing "decks" are speedroids which can't summon it because it both requires a dark monster and is a dark monster itself while the deck is usually wind locked. Also, odd eyes wing dragon has worse effects than the clear wing it's using as material which already only has a very niche negate.
Also you can just summon Crystal Wing, the actually good evolution of Clear Wing.
I think that your standard of, "this is meta in the current game" is kind of a rip-off in this episode. Telling whether a card is good or bad is a fair game, but telling whether a card is a part of the CURRENT meta? C'mon! If someone showed Tarmagoyf on their show and said it was a stinker because it got power crept in modern, then I don't think that would be a very fair show. Either don't include cards like these, or just ask if it was ever a meta threat rather than whether it's relevant in the current meta, otherwise we might as well say every pendulum card is trash on the spot.
tl;dr: Whether the card is good or bad should have more clear-cut answers. If you include a power crept card, then it should be something iconic and funny, like Yatagarasu, Raigeki/Dark hole, or Monster Reborn.
That is a fair point. This episode is designed to show all the most worded cards in Yugioh’s history regardless of how good the cards would be for a show like this.
@@TheOneJameYT I understand, maybe the grading criteria could have been relaxed a bit? And maybe more could have been said to help contextualize the common functions of cards, such as mentioning that practically every card tutors in Yu-Gi-Oh.
@@evilagram this is his 3rd show, so some things have already been explained (see previous 2 shows with him). Also this episode is already over an hour so can you even imagine how long it would be if I explained even more things 😅
Also, I think a good way to explain spell counters would just be that they're analogous to charge counter in magic: they have no inherent effect and are only really generated by cards that care about them. The only real differences are that most cards gain spell counters from spells being cast and that far more ygo cards can interact with spell counters on other cards than in magic.
2121's not worth living in
Scientists got stumped by Nirvana High Paladin
47:30 This is actually one of the few meta pendulum decks and is actually good in specific formats. Easy to summon boss monster that negates cards in a deck that negates cards. MTGs its a bunch of creatures that use spell counters to COUNTER opponents cards. While tutoring Endymion cards from the hand / deck to the battlefield etc. In MTG -1 tier or tier 0 for other terms. In modern ygo pends decks take too much time to set up and suffer to disruption. However this deck is still a viable rogue deck.
I don't even think its great in clear wing tbh
True lol
You straight-up can't use it in Speedroids, because basically everything in that deck locks you into Wind and they don't have any Dark tuners. Clear Wing Synchro Dragon takes generic materials (any tuner and any non-tuner(s)), so you could potentially use it in an Odd-Eyes deck, but there's really no reason to use Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon when the Vortex+Absolute combo is much better and takes the same amount of extra deck space.
For context golden castle of stromberg topped a major event last in 2020 it was not played as a pure deck it was mostly played as a enabler in gren manju decks.
Do show them some Exosister and Mikanko next time. Need some rogue stuff in the mix.
Trying to explain how an Extra Deck Pendulum monster operates using strictly audio feels impossible, but valiant effort
Am I the only one who noticed nikachu called the vanilla suship an effect monster?
I still need you to show someone the Tear Mirror, that would be absolutely hilarious
I don't understand the strange explanation of pendulum summoning you gave the poor man. What you said suggested that LINK monsters are a requirement for pendulum summoning when that isn't and cannot be the case considering Pendulum monsters/summoning pre date the existence of LINK monsters by several years.
To be fair, Endymion the deck is not amazing going second, but Endymion the monster is kinda broken going second if you can manage to get 6 spell counters, because it is a board breaker and usually if you managed to survive up to that point it means your opponents doens't have any negates left to stop you from summoning it.
This guy is so interesting. He doesn't know what he's looking at, but instead of just having his eyes glaze over, he actually takes in the information to the best of his ability. I want to be like him more often.
My guy Nikachu is a real dude for enduring this much YGO Bs
Mad respect
Same!
Cinderella is in public domain tho XD Disney used alot of preexisting storys
You didn't explain what D. D. D means, a demon from a different dimension is also a monster from a different dimension, but a D. D isn't a D. D. D because if he was a demon he would be D. D. D instead of D. D
havent been this early since golden castle was playable
always goood to catch a video on release
Let me know what you think!!
I would actually love to see a lore bit on Endymion, mainly cause i always though Endymion archetype was just aesthetically appealing to look at.
Endymion is probably the strongest pendulum monster ever printed, but ultimately spell counters and pendulum cards are weak to interaction so like you said it hates going second. There's way too many ways for a setup bored to remove a scale or a SC holder, it'll never be viable unless the meta has efficient ways to disable enemy interaction going second
It's actually one of the few pendulum decks that can overcome meta deck boards going 2nd.
@@admontblancwhen two of the top three decks right now have the block a scale button readily available, no, I don't think it's overcoming boards in normal cases. When Cosmic is showing up in main deck to try and stop FK Island, no I don't think scales are well positioned to play
For Nirvana High Paladin's effect of using a pendulum as a tuner you can use any pendulum summoned monster as that monster will be treated as a tuner for the summon like for an example a level 2 pendulum summoned moinster and a level 8 synchro can make this Synchro
Have someone new read king of the skull servants, it’d be funny
Is that a Junior Journey reference!?
Sorry but I had to say it, they're holding my family hostage.
Ask for them the Towers the original one! While the Qli is terrible today, the whole type of cards are named by him today :)
Original yugioh was the best. "My grandpa gave me this special necklace that makes me draw the best card in my deck to win the game."
"I have a lot of money so i can change the rules when I want"
"My golden eyeball lets me see all your cards at any moment"
"I'm just a weird dude with a weird accent, I kinda suck but I'm comic relief"

0:00 DURING BASKETBALL PEOPLE MONTH!?
Cinderella isn't actually a Disney property so it's fair to use. Now Fairy Tail Snow White which was based off Disney's Snow White had to have it's dress changed from blue to red in America because that was directly copying Disney.
Great episode, full hour plus of editing, and the Suship bonus! I think if you include Pends or Links you should show people the game board or a little demo beforehand. It's like trying to explain Monopoly but only showing somebody the game pieces and not the game board.
I feel like you could call Endymion tier -1. Back during the days of Toss format some people wanted to call it toess because of Endy (though for obvious reasons it never caught on... which is for the better). Even today as a total cope deck Endymion carries Pend-Spell Counter on his back as being playable-ish, serving as both win condition and engine piece. So historically Mr. Mighty Master of Magic has been strong enough to make a deck viable, unlike these other cards which need your engine to bend over backwards to make and use.
I stand by my last comment regarding Mr. Chu, give him the Yu-Gi-Oh Merfolk super quiz. Since every "merfolk" archetype has been meta at some point he needs to judge if that individual card contributes to the strategy or not. Maybe someday you can have him play one of those decks on a Master Duel stream. Love it or hate it, seems like it'd be entertaining as hell!
Yea that's a great idea to give him a whole "merfolk" episode!! Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hey man I love your channel and these videos. But just as friendly feedback, I do think you could explain game mechanics more concisely. Admittedly, pendulums are very convoluted, but even so, the explanation can be simplified for non-Yugioh players:
_"A Synchro Monster starts the duel in your Extra Deck. You can summon it by sending monsters from your field to the GY whose levels add up to that Synchro Monster's level, but exactly one of them must be a Tuner."_
_"A Pendulum Monster can be treated like any other monster card, or you can instead treat it like a Continuous Spell by placing it in the leftmost or rightmost Spell/Trap Zone. While in that zone, its Pendulum Effect applies instead of its monster effect. If you have two Pendulum Monsters being treated as Spells, then once per turn, you can Special Summon any number of monsters whose levels are between those Pendulum Monsters' Pendulum Scales - from your hand, as well as other Pendulum Monsters that have previously left the field."_
Very true, thanks for the feedback!
Show him a Tearlaments monster and ask him if its good!
what if you showed all "good" cards but some good cards are like magical musketeer max which is great but not good enough to carry it's archetype?
26:00 tell him max level is 12 and then imagine showing him iC1000 which says "5 level 13 monsters" . Instant confusion 😂😅 Good idea for next card tho. Show him Number iC1000 :o that 100k atk will get him
Lmaooo that’s genius
As someone whos sole aim in any commander game is to draw my entire deck, yugioh having an effective starting hand of 20 is a bonus
Lol yeah we have access to the extra deck but there are requirements to summon from extra deck they are like your “boss” monsters . It’s like needing resources but your monsters are your resources
Flavor text technically would count if it really specifically mentions this card's name in that flavortext. (though this has never applied for any card)
So little fact about wing dragon it’s currently seeing play in silent force over in the ocg to the point where it’s part of the most common deck lists
19:00 you got pend summoning wrong. The update was hand monster cards do not need a link arrow, only extra deck monsters need to pend summoned to a linked zone. Before links was even worse than that...
He gives the correct version later I think.
I do mention that monsters in the face up extra deck go in the link zones
@@Pyroniusburn he mentioned Master Rule 4 not the 2020/2021 update that allowed you to not have to use links for monsters that are special summoned from the extra deck. Pend Summons require linked arrows if your monster is from the extra deck, but not from the hand. I understand the point that it didn't change much in terms of the video's content, but it's a good distinction. Seeing as there are 3 versions of pend summon.
Yugi's breaker is the first spell counter monster
I loved Breaker
So glad I stopped playing by the time pendulum shenanigans were introduced
A lot of people feel that way too lol
Ok, so here are some commentaries and suggestions:
1. Disney didn't invent Cinderella. Cinderella is a fairy tale created by the Grimm Brothers. So no one is ripping off nobody, therefore no legal actions are justified.
2. Regarding the speedroid/odd eyes card. You don't play it in any of those two decks. Reason being, the negate effect is an ignition effect not a quick one, and that makes the card garbage, among other things.
3. Bright Armageddon doesn't work like that, the conjunction "and" means you have to do both things, if you don't do both things (in this case forcing your opponent to target a pendulum monster they control) you do nothing. So your opponent HAS to have a pendulum monster. The card isn't a skill drain for non pendulum decks. The main use of this card in DDD is the targeting protection.
4. I think you should evaluate the card in it's own archetype, because if you introduce an X factor like the current meta, it's almost impossible for the guest to evaluate the card OR you need to explain a little bit what is the current meta for context. Just the effect of the card doesn't explain the card and it's not fun to see a card guesser challenge where the guest has next to no chance to evaluate the card correctly.
The fun part of the card guesser game is that using your braincells you can tell if the card is good or not.
These cards specifically are already almost impossible to evaluate, and we both knew this going into it. The reason we agreed to do this video is because we had so many comments suggesting we do Endymion for an impossible challenge video.
@@TheOneJameYTok ok ❤

You trying to explain pendulum monster made me laugh so hard lol you also didn't do him a favor by introducing pends to him through two that are in the extra deck, he probably associated pendulum with the extra deck by default.
Yea he did, he even thought Endymion was an extra deck monster at first before I had to let me know 😅
Cinderella is not Disney inteIIectuaI property because its oId European foIkIore, making it pubIic domain. Disney has just used it but anyone can.
10:34 the educational gap is once again huge, so I had to laugh :). Cinderella is based on a fairy tale that is widespread in Europe. This fairy tale is likely derived from German and French folk tales. Charles Perrault adapted it into "Cendrillon" in 1697, in which Cinderella became the iconic character known today and introduced the concept of glass slippers. In earlier folk tales, the shoes were more commonly depicted as silver or sometimes gold. The fact that the Yu-Gi-Oh! card uses the German word "Prinzessin" could point to the origins of the folk tale.
One of my favorite pendulum monsters is Guiding Ariadne. People on Master Duel never realize that it's monster effect still goes off even if it was a spell card when destroyed 😂
And if they use a card to negate and destroy that effect it goes off again since it's not once per turn, and monsters sent to the extra deck CAN be destroyed again
I know this is probably a very "out there" comment, but I just want to say I love the flavor in Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon. The "destroy all monsters on the field" is similar to Supreme King Dragon Clear Wing, the "corrupted" Dark version of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, and Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon is also Dark. Its pendulum effect is similar to Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon's effect to gain ATK when battling a monster. Funny enough, Supreme King Clear Wing has no level restriction on its effect, while Crystal Wing does, and Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon swaps the level restriction around.
I was really concerned you were gonna call stromberg remotely playable because people used to play it sometimes in green maju before there were good cards that banish a bunch of cards but man it was awful. Also, there was a 1 card halq cbo that "didn't use the normal" with this so it was like the 8th best halq engine.
I thought I knew how extra deck monsters worked and then you showed a SYNCHRO/PENDULUM
Wait, D/D/D Super Doom King Bright Armageddon (what a ridiculous name) is NOT a pendulum?
I'm not even gonna try to guess what the rulings are for synchro/pendulum and for non-pendulum with pendulum effects.
Breaker the magical warrior gets a spell counter when he's normal summoned
Why didn't he explain that facedown banished cards can't be used because they're face down?
Not sure if that was relevant at the time but I should’ve said something about that
You can explain it every single Yu-Gi-Oh extra deck summoning mechanic except for pendulum by just saying it works like fusion.
Synchro summoning is just contact fusing two monsters, one of which has to be a specific type who's total level equals a certain number exactly.
Xyz summoning is just contact fusing two monsters of the same specific level and they all have an effects that puts their materials under them. Kind of like how all neos contact fusions have the effect of bouncing themselves. But this would be for all of the xyz.
And link something is self-explanatory honestly link summoning seems the closest to contact fusing.
Yeah Golden Castle is bad, but it WAS good because people didn't fucking read the bottom most text lmfao. Also sometimes it was one of those metas where people didn't have spell/trap removal in their decks, and this card was just FTK. But also you'd have monsters that are indestructible, and that would out this too, like Swordsoul Chengying. Lorcana joke was top notch
Odd Eyes Wing Dragon doesn't even look like it would see play in a deck that runs Clear Wing cards. You can just summon Crystal Wing, which is stronger in pretty much every way and can be summoned with that exact requirement but is even more generic to boot.
And yes, there's no reason why pend scales even have 2 numbers... They look cooler? They're never different and it doesn't matter where you scale it. They probably had a plan but maybe went back on it cuz it would make things so much more complicated.
10:40 - because fairy tales are not owned by disney. only their specific movie designs are
18:45 - and this is why we all should choose to ignore pendulum exists in the future. too long to explain, no one uses it anyway
Golden Castle has never been Good, thankfully, its just a cogitohazard because that giant block of text makes people miss the important part of it, often twice
Many people will, their first time seeing it, go "oh you just played a goofy castle whatever", swing in, blow up one of their monsters, go "Oh it does that, but surely thats once per turn right?" and then swing in again and blow up a second monster because the defensive effect is not limited in activation count
The Golden Castle monsters all are mediocre and whatever, the self-mill is goofy, its just a funny meme card to flashbang new players with
I think the best way to explain the D/D/D car is there are some many cards with busted effects just locked behind a bad or irrelevant archetype. Look at Astrograph Sorcerer. Extremely strong card, bad deck, but 1 meta shift later it’s busted. 1 support link card, and it gets banned.
ive never heard of stromberg as being garbage, just as being pretty mid. but honestly, in yugioh, mid and garbage are kinda synonymous, im just more familiar with how genuinely completely unusable actual garbage tier cards in yugioh are that it feels wrong to say stromberg is garbage when garbage is typically reserved to describe things like sparks
i find it funny that you're afraid of the clear wing community would go after you when the most playable deck in the video (aside from endymion) are suships and they're the only one you genuenly called unplayable xd
I’ve never seen the deck played I’ve only heard of the gigantic amount of flavor text lol
@@TheOneJameYT i really recommend you check it out a decent hand can easily make 2-3 rank 4s and a rank 5 throught a handtrap or two and altho their archtypal xyzs aren't the greatest they draw you cards and make otking rather easy
Alot of Yu-Gi-Oh would be explained alot easier with a visual representation of the game board. Have you ever though of using dueling book to show how the actions take place? Explain Endymion to someone who has 0 idea how pendulums work seemed like a headache and a half.
odd-eyes wing dragon is unplayable trash. golden castle of stromberge is definitely more playable than this card. quick effect board wipe is fake because almost nothing lets u make this card in the battle phase and by the time u get to the battle phase ur board might already be dead anyways. it's just really really really really terrible.
How DARE you make this episode and not include the original walls of text of Yugioh, Toon Dark Magician Girl, Relinquished and Ancient City Rainbow Ruins, wich even post PSCT is still as long as Golden Castle.
30:55 underwhelmed until i come out here with a monster steal, targeting protection, destruction protection, a float and a floodgate that makes it so you can't tribute, fusion, synchro, or xyz using monsters on the field 😎d/d/d for life
pendulum monsters are outright unfair for non yugioh players. You basically have to explain so much before you get to how pendulums work and even then the pendulums are kind of a mechnic that is ignored because they archetype is too big-brain for alot of people.
Nirvana High Paladin was played in Arc V.
I enjoy the enthusiasm but reading everything as "Kaiba" is a bit annoying when Yugi would be the one playing Endymion & Nirvana High Paladin if anyone was using them in DM
To Clarify Penultimate Means "Second To Last" or "The one before the Ultimate" so this implies there's another Episode with even More Wordy Cards coming So are we gonna See that Sleeping Giant Card sometime Soon?
Honestly, pendulum sounds like a fake game mechanic that a nerdy character in a sitcom would be trying to explain as a joke. Like Cones of Dunshire bit from Parks and Recreation
Odd-eyes wing dragon is so terrible, why does it need a dark tuner; why is it dark??? Speedroid (the clear wing deck) can't even make this, and also you'd just make crystal wing instead.
