As a brand the money should be given to the customers in the form of give aways or prizes. Or even given to charity. Never in my life have I seen an influencer get PR or gifts from a brand and it has made me want to buy the product bc honestly I'm jelly!

Because they're not advertising the makeup, they're advertising the influencer lifestyle. Tarte makeup is nothing special, so their attempt at standing out is giving the impression that "if you use our products, you'll get famous and we'll send you expensive jewelry"
I prefer that they do show it because then I know they have had an incentive to talk about the brand. If you receive expensive gifts from a brand and never disclose it - that's deceptive.
what pissed me off about the f1 brand trip is like whyyyy send these influencers to watch a sport they could not care less about, like that is just kinda asking for hate or to thats perfect ragebait. these poor girlies gonna just take pics and be bored the whole time and then get a bunch of hate comments like what

Nah the thought was definitely that the influencer would hold the make up up to the camera and the iPad box would be in the shot too. Plus the sticky tape makes it harder to fake open everything first.

Honestly i have a lot of thoughts brand trips. Especially tarte is still stuck in the early 2000s era of an aspirational brand image. But because of covid and inflation aspirational doesn't work anymore cause it just highlights the wealth gap. Now it includes rage bait cause it's publicity either way.
“Highlights the wealth gap” is a perfect way to put it. People need to wake up, realize this and let companies know what’s good by not spending their money with them.

Tarte is doing this so everyone is talking about them but in the end this will only contribute to why more people just stop purchasing it. (in my opinion)
I stopped using Tarte about two years ago because I found something better for concealer but this has cemented my dislike of the brand as a whole. The money wasted on purchasing expensive products and trips for already rich people is ridiculous! They have said they are committed to sustainability and only choose ingredients that are good for the environment but then pay for these influencers to fly on private jets and contributing to waste by giving them items they don't need (or want).
I never liked the brand. They literally dropped 2 dark shades when they first released their foundation and I was floored. I think Jackie Aina did a video about it and I swore never to support them.
Ok. This is giving me MLM vibes. Hit a certain amount of sales/points and you’ll be invited on an all expenses paid trip. Yes companies around the world have this program. But they actually work for the company and are paid a wage with the trip as an insensitive not a bunch of social media mean girls.
And as a publicist please please pleeeese don’t use rage bait to increase your numbers and engagement. It will eventually backfire and you’ll lose more than you’ll gain. Don’t risk it. It WILL destroy your platform and all the work you’ve put into it

The beauty community has changed so much. I don’t think I’d mind the brand trips if they took influencers who actually deserve it if that makes sense. What business does a lifestyle mommy blogger have on a makeup brand trip. The PR packages are just annoying for the same reason. Put that ,only back into creating better products lol

The entire brand has now become rage bait... Their PR packages, their brand trips, their prices, their apology videos, everything is just being done to create any kind of conversation or notoriety, even negative, which is great for short term but in the long run this is going to hurt them.....

The hierarchy is definitely intentional… an iPad is way cheaper than influencer rates. Send some mid sized influencers bags of pretzels or costume jewelry and you’re essentially saying “we know about you, you’re on our list, if you talk about us more maybe you’ll get something better next time!” It’s actually smart as long as you’re ok with being the villain of the beauty world. Most people don’t hold grudges and let companies get away with literal murder without it truly affecting sales.

Idk why they think rage bait would work to get more sales. Sure people are talking about tart but most people are talking about how they are going to boycott tart. I used to get the light camera lashes mascara. But I found it dried up way too quickly and by the end of the day I had racoon eyes.
Now I pretty much get all my makeup from the drug store, as it is somewhat more affordable. I’m currently use Maybelline sky high in brown, because 1.) it doesn’t flake off under my eyes and 2.) it’s only $10 compared to tarts $40
(I live in Canada for reference if the price seems different)

When brands send already filthy rich influencers insane “gifts” it makes me NOT want to buy their products. These influencers don’t need this stuff. They could so easily go and purchase it themselves if they wanted to. As others have said they could host giveaways for customers or do big donations to schools/charities to get their brand name out there more. I’m just so tired of these influencers and brands. At this point when I can afford to buy myself a new product I just buy from small businesses. While their products usually cost a bit more it’s way better than giving these big brands my money and the product usually has a lot more thought/care put into it and I know the brand isn’t using my money to buy some spoiled influencer a vacation or an iPad.

the difference between TH-cam and TikTok makeup influencer etiquette on brand trips is so funny but I get it, on TH-cam, especially back in the day, brand loyalty was everything, makeup influencers getting sent on trips to promo products was such an unheard of thing that the makeup girlies basically felt indebted to talk solely about certain brands to the point they were just a _____ product shill *cough* jaclyn *cough*, nowadays, where any and everything can go viral, the TikTok girlies don’t really need to align themselves solely to particular brands when they basically get sent everything, and they get paid, so going a free brand trip from a brand they have no loyalty is just a free vacation, I think the bigger the internet gets and the more influencers that get famous just for doing makeup the more it’s not a necessity for brand loyalty, it’s not like traditional celebrity
Did you see that California just passed a law that makes family channels put away some of the profits they get from their videos for the children to use later in life!! It’s based after the Coogan Law (which does the same thing but for child actors in tv and movies). It’s a fabulous step forward!!
