Fantastic to see all these early performances, brings back fond memories of being a late teenager and not having a care in the world............ youth is wasted on the young 😀 i did'nt know how lucky i was.
sheep farming in barnet, the best of toyah in my opinion. As i spelled out on the Safari posting of the full album, Toyah was a huge part of my life around the time of 79 -81 from seeing her on Shoestring , she looked and sounded like nobody i had seen at that point and always will hold a special place in my life
I saw the band 10 times, The Brighton center was my first gig they did Sheep farming which has always been my favourite album. Seen them in Manchester, Birmingham and six times in London. I'm 62 too. Love you Toyah xx
Wow! I almost forgot how much of a scorcher this is. I first discovered Toyah through Anthem, and backtracked to this. The remaster of Sheep Farming is fantastic, by the way!
Funny, never heard of her before her and hubby Robert Fripp started doing their videos together. I guess she didn't catch on here in the States. I must say she is more lovely now.
@@rmanpojo8485 as for the singing, based on the height of her career I would say it's just a matter of taste. Toyah's mark was obviously the performance.
The hysterical thing is that Toyah, in historical context, is the heir to Roxy, Bowie, and Peter Gabriel much more than the punk ethos she always championed. I think the punk mindset gave her the courage to go off in the direction she went, but that direction was several rungs above the DIY punk esthetic. These were real bands performing real songs she fronted. Past time she gets her due credit for being a phenomenal rock front woman.
Didn’t the Barron Knights or Russ Abbott do a performance where they basically took the Mickey and pretended to be you? Something about rubber chickens in the song.
@@joharris7972 lol no, definitely had a blue background and it was a generic take off of female pop singers of the day generally about high voices, I think.
Hmm my old brain can't think what that was lol, there was the sketch show with Rowan Atkinson, Pamela?, Gryff R Jones, and others used to do take offs of people 💪🤣x
her teeth was really bad back then. 40 years later, on the cover of 'Sensational' Mrs Fripp looks a lot more glamourous and her teeth looks sensational
How am I the only one here who thinks this is just embarrassingly bad?? It’s like an SNL skit of somebody doing an exaggerated parody of a bad 1980s new wave singer. My body is a neon womb? LOL…WTF??

Love Toyah, punk, rock and pop all rolled into one, she's so gorgeous also , her sexy lisp adds so much to her originality ❤

I love how the band understand the absolute futility of trying to mime to "Neon Womb" so just go for all-out madness!

I love your show. Regards from Brazil.
Toyah, I now get it. Thank you!
Wow that is an amazing performance, punk lives 🙏🏻
That’s a very energetic performance from everyone, compared to what we usually see in TV shows from musicians and bands. Love that!
Saw her back in the early 80's in Brum. She kept this up for the whole show! I swear I have never seen so much energy in such a wee package!
Excellent Toyah !! 🎤🎸
I wish Toyah had broke through in America. We missed out on this unique and energetic talent.
Fantastic toyah 👏👏👏 xxx
So epic, tears in my eyes.
Really crazy good, I mean bloody brilliant 👏👍
Fantastic. Took me back 40 years. I can even recall the smells.
PVC?
Exquisite. Raised the spirits on a Tier 3 morning! Thanks for sharing it!
🧡👩🦰💛🎵🎶 Go Toyah Go!!! You Give Neon Womb The Wild Energy It Deserves !!! 👍❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Bands of today, can't touch our Toyah, she was 👉ELECTRIC 👈👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
IS, electric. She is a powerful energy still today!
Amazing memories ❤
Utter bliss.
German here: Please excuse my fellow citizens just sitting to watch. Entertainment was like this then.
This is perfect.

Love it why I followed the band back then
Anaciac , fun ,
Yep, me too 😎
Enya is ONLY After Her! Style!
Love the energi❤️
Great way to start the 1980s.
Love this tiny powerhouse!
Wow! I almost forgot how much of a scorcher this is.

i remember seeing you on tv when i was a kid, that was over 35 years ago, wow you've aged well you look great

so true lovely lady now... but singing ......?

I think she's more famous in UK, even here in Italy never heard, I feel I've lost a lot ☹
@@vanina68 thanks to TH-cam there is no shortage of videos of her past performances!

Toyah the energizer bunny lol ❤
TE AMO
Bass line has a real Black Sabbath vibe
oi pure class and mad as hell back in the 1980s 🙌☺💚💛👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The history of English rock acts appearing on German TV fascinates me. I wonder if Toyah's look is what inspired Anja Huwe and her friends in Hamburg?
This is actually good
You kinda made Soiuxsie look like a school teacher. Robert must be a strong man. Thanks!🌞😎✌️👾
Now I get the other videos
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Xoxoxo
The girl Robert Fripp took home to meet mum.
Brazil veri biteful..
You got prettier with age...but still smoking in this
I can't understand what it is, but here you remind me very much of Sir Robert (and-not Burns!!!) !!! )))
The mystic ! )))
Voice is a bit like Kate Bush
It's incredible the influence that Siouxsie Sioux had in those days. Great performance tho
I didn't say copied, i'm talking about artistic influence, for instance we wouldn't probably have Siouxsie and the Banshees without Roxy Music or NeU
@@adjmetal They were all hanging out together
I wonder how much blow she did before this show. Just love it either way!
it was speed back then
yeah robert picked up well :) so did she :)
Copying totally Johnny rotten facial expressions, total punk, Love it xx

Wasn't that Spitting Image in the 80's with the chicken song? 💪💜🤣🤩x

Pity it was lip-sync.. the band then, and Toyah now put on such a great live show it wasn’t needed ..
but that’s what TV shows did at that time
Move over all you new wave bands TOYAH. is here.
So this is what Stevie Ray Vaughan was up against and not much different from what I'm up against. Yeah, I'll be fine 😂
(This is great, though)
Do not take speed and alcohol.
Unless you intend to have FUN!!!!!
