This 3D medical animation shows the steps of spirometry, a lung function test commonly used in asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis and pulmonary fibrosis.

You inhale slowly to raise and maintain the flow rate indicator on the marks prescribed, then hold your breath for 5 seconds and then exhale through pursed lips.
Yes thank you, you are right :)
One important information is missing here, it is that asthma is breathing out difficulty that is exhale not inhale. So, many of u might be afriad that u r having asthma when u actually not having is. This is what happened to me and now my doctor told me that what I have is a pannic attack.
They usually say its a panic attack if they cant diagnose it. Meaning the test went fine but yet youre still insuating that something is wrong
I have asthma. There's no room to inhale also while having attack.
This video is very informative. Thanks so much for posting!
glad now I know what is coming thank you
I. Love. You
Dear nucleus team. The instructions on how to use spirometry are not fully correct. patients are instructed to take a few tidal breaths, blow out hard for a few seconds, then take a deep breath all while the mouth remains tightly on the spirometer. This generates a complete flow volume loop. What you demonstrated is an FEV1 only. J Tversky, MD
Damn how do you know that😮
Good in deed,,,, Short but full of basic contents ♥️♥️ congrats madam👏👏
I done the spirometry test twice. I can only blow out for about 8 -10 seconds before I'm gassed and that's pushing it. Anyway. They said my lungs were healthy even though sometimes my lungs feel like they're on fire. Thanks for the video
great explanation, and thank you for using diverse models.
Because the amount of melanin is someone’s skin matter. Get off yourself.
Is there anyway to improve lung function so that you can obtain a better score on a spirometry test?
I've never smoked or anything like that before, but took the test a few years ago and it showed lower numbers.
Pulmonary Fibrosis does not narrow the bronchioles, rather it permanently dialates them
Appreciate the information. Took one today and nearly passed out.
Ann Bowen hahaha!! damn..me too..Just took one today and it rang both my ears and my head feels like it will explode.
Well dang I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like that 🤣🤣
I have a spirometry test scheduled for January 8, 2024 at 740am. I am hoping for answers to a constant cough for nearly 4 years with this test...
Thank you, this is really helpful.
If you found this video helpful, you may also want to know that there's a new study from the British Medical Journal (which is well-respected) that highlights the gut-lung connection. It's called: Rapid Resolution of COVID-19 After Faecal Microbial Transplantation! Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) have a 90% success rate in exchange for relatively low risk. So there is some risk that exists with this procedure. For example, one person receiving FMT got an e-coli infection because the transfer was done in a home setting, not in a healthcare or research setting. When the procedure is done in a clinical setting, the stool is screened to prevent the transfer of aggressive pathogens!
Good explanation

Thank you
Thank you.❤
Thank you!
Im 25 and i got this done. My lungs are 138 years old... idk what it means but i know i feel like shit and sleep apnea is my insomnia
@Walter White oh no
Our teacher in collage recomended us to watch this
Hi what software did you use for animation of the lungs
Are we suppose to blow or inhale??
This is the room thats has te most line cause no one can understand it and speaking from experience how i can keep breath out after i exhale all of the air fast. You have to exhale fast and strong and suppose to continue to exhale or blow to the pipe normally

My Grandma got Nimonia. Doctor gives her this thing to recover..
I took one yesterday and I got asthma and I smoke weed 🥵... I thought was finna die
At least 6 seconds eh.
I just did 12 before I ran out of breath. Is that good?
W. L. Orodor Calaerchon means you have high lung capacity.

This is similar to the devices the police use in testing the alcohol levels in vehicle drivers who have been drinking.

I have to go back to doctor because I only gave 1 sufficient big breath when 3 were needed. Why can't it be straight forward to use, everyone feels like their heads are gonna explode just to give a healthy reading..
I have asthma so i wanted to check how bad it is
Thank you
