    IMO after 4 Years in China, Astrill VPN is the hands down choice. No connection issues, and that is with plenty of travel before the lockdowns. It is expensive but well worth the money. I used it and had an Express account my first year here. But Express is spotty, works when it works, but when it doesn't your screwed. But then I was introduced to Astrill by an Expat friend, connection was never an issue again. Stay away from NORD, absolutely worthless.

    Resides in China now, we usually use something called an "airport" to access the outside Internet (website who offers proxy services, not that physical )
    We don't use traditional VPN in China now, instead, we used Shadowsocks, ShadowsocksR, V2Ray(VMESS, VLESS, which is very, very popular these days), XRay(V2Ray modified, not the X-ray machine), Trojan(not the malware or the movie), Hysteria, GOST(not the Linux tool) etc. You guys are not gonna believe how much time did these developers take to invent these protocols, layers of layers encryption, and TLS everywhere, just to avoid the censorship, and the safety of communication. 🤪

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      No, they just block the IP addresses used by that VPN. The companies are usually quick to respond by cycling their IP addresses, but it’s a cat-and-mouse game and it may take a few hours or even a day or two. That’s why I have a backup.

      Well I am not really that kind of person. Actually I don't trust the main stream media from either side of the world now as they are both promoting something to their own interest. That's why I am so excited knowing you live in that area right now. I have read several articles/news from CNN, Bloomberg, Reuters, BBC, FOX, NPR, NTD (an anti communist television network, basically Fa-lun Gong activist) to get a very rough picture of the "truth". I found some of the claim might be baseless. As most of the sources reported is based on satellite images. There is lack of evidence to claim forced labor and sexual misconduct. Genocide is too strong for what's really going on. However I am 100% convinced that the "re-education camps" exist, and families are separated for no "legal" reasons.

      It has for me, but not in every part of China. You can always try and then get your money back within 30 days if it doesn’t work for you.

    把这段话翻译成英文吧,我英语太差了以至于语法漏洞百出,最后不得不用中文,抱歉~所以,看,我是个中国人,在中国生活,用了四年vpn了,我的vpn在中国几乎任何地方都可以工作,我的vpn貌似名叫东方vpn,我也不知道这是如何运作的vpn公司,这个vpn是我的朋友给我的,他只跟我说这个vpn是从他的朋友那得来的。我建议当你想找到好用的vpn时,你可以去问问身边的中国人,他们可能知道如何选择,在中国,好用的vpn并不一定是最大或者最著名的(我去过北京,河南,湖北,西安,深圳,上海,南京这些地方,任何地方这个vpn都出色的工作)

      They require you to give your phone number, which is a big no-no for me. That's why I don't personally use them, but I know they've historically worked well in China.

      Ha! I'll take that, I guess. What were you wanting? A crappy list of VPNs? There are plenty of other videos like that on TH-cam from people who've never lived in China.
      My goal is to educate you about how the internet works in China so that you understand that there IS NO BEST VPN FOR CHINA. You live in Shanghai, right? Do you disagree with how I'm describing the internet in China?
