I have more luck using "Green Sunfish" for Catfish Bait. Scale it on both sides, Fillet one side and cut the head off. Use the head for one Rod and the Fillet for another. I Love watching the Googans catfishing. Keep up the Great content.

The sunfish you are wondering about is a long ear sunfish. They get bright colored like that when they are dominant males in the breeding season.

Rob you and LFG need to build some green lights for night fishing. Water proof 5050smd LED strand, stick it on a pvc pipe, then you'll need some wire, and weight to sink it. The lights are 12v so will run perfect on a boat battery.
Rob a lil tip. Just call them bream. It's a general term used for all types of bluegills, red ears, green sunfish, etc. That's what we calm over here in Mississippi.
Blue gills up here in Ohio are bigger then your hand. On the Ohio River cats love em. Great fishing guys!!
