The plant you're not sure of ID on is 100% subhastatum and that is variegation 😊 They variegate really weirdly and seem to spontaneously variegate a lot. I know quite a few people that it's happened to including myself and it's nothing to worry about. The variegation seems to always increase when the plant is cut too, and I think I remember seeing a couple spots of variegation when you first hauled the plant, so it makes sense that it's presenting more now 🤗
i like when you include watering! i like to see what fertilizers ur using lately and also just fun to watch when watering my plants, or as inspo to get up and water mine lol
Love your videos. If someone doesn't like watching you water your plants they can run through that part. You have such a great presentation of not only your plants but, also of your self. Great job!
I feel like a moss pole on the Tortum would be distracting from the plant it self… but I await your decision! Mine was lost in the mail for 12 days!! But amazingly it’s looking pretty good!! 2 decent rooted plants!!
Keep the watering in your videos! I actually love it. I love watching people do the “mundane “ chores, it’s just relaxing to watch. :) Your grow light falling is my biggest fear with a cabinet and hanging light, so glad nothing caught on fire!
Thank goodness it didn’t start a fire or something with the light being fallen onto leaves. I’m always paranoid about leaving the house with my grow lights on even though I’m home with them 24/7 and never have had issues 😅
I know right! That’s my concern. It sucks that it hurt the plants but I’m much more scared of something like a fire 🥺 I’m out of town today for a vet appointment and kept it off even though I will be home tonight lol.
That's exactly what I thought too! Must be because I experienced a house fire when I was younger. What's most important is that Fern, Olive and her home are safe. 🙂
Love any video you put out! Whether you're transplanting, chopping/propagating, watering, just chatting, etc. YOU are reason I watch your videos. You're like my British Columbia child :)
I love the watering on camera because there are occasional little updates thrown in the mix and it’s an opportunity to see more plants even if you’re not specifically talking about them
Omgggg Philodendron Tortum is one of my wishlist plants, yours is so gorgeous!♥️🤩 Fall/spooky season can't come soon enough, girl lol. I'm obsessed!🕷🎃👻
I wouldn’t put the tortum on a moss pole personally. I like how bamboo doesn’t distract visually from the delicate shape of the leaves. I got one this spring and it’s just a baby, but it’s becoming one of my favorite plants! I can’t wait for spooky season. My friends have a podcast called Haunted Happy Hour and they’re doing a series on haunted road trips if you’re looking for inspo 🎃👻👾
I love watching watering! It’s sooo relaxing and even just hearing the sound of the water helps to calm my anxiety a lot, I would happily watch a whole hour video of just you watering at the sink😅
As soon as the days start getting shorter I get sad summer is ending so I distract myself by looking forward to Halloween 🎃 I can’t wait for your spooky videos!!
I also love the watering part, and I love spooky season too! At work I was talking about how excited I am that Halloween's almost here, and people were like are you kidding me it's still summer 🤣🤣🤣
Great video, love all your content! Watching you water while I do my plant chores makes it feel less boring! Also where did u get your sun catchers? I checked your merch and I’m sure you talked about them awhile back but I can’t find that video now.
It’s interesting you said that about the spooky repot videos. i’ve been watching your channel for a few months now, and I went back to the older videos to watch from the beginning, and I saw one of the spooky videos and then decided to skip the rest of them to save them for Halloween! I bet you get an uptic in views on those videos around Halloween each year. They may not perform as well with new viewers, but I bet your regular viewers appreciate the novelty and variety.
I’ve heard that lower light produces better variegation for florida beauty? maybe you could try to keep it away from a light i’m not entirely sure but I want it to grow well for you!
I personally like the long videos. At least when it is from someone that I would actually hang out and do planty stuff with ( yes, you😆) . There are some videos out there that I just tolerate the personality for the information.
I don't mind watering content with some lo-fi chill tunes. If I'm doing plant chores while watching, that's a section I don't need to see the screen for. But tbh I could take it or leave it. My favorite plant content is growth updates and big picture commentary that comes with familiarity and having grown a plant for a while. How it reacts to different conditions, a new fertilizer, different climbing methods, etc. Ps you got me spraying my hoyas with orchid mist and they are LOVING it!
My monstera Peru has just taken off and looks better than ever!!! And my monstera like the one you repotted that I’m not spelled lol. Has also found a life of its own and taking off!! The leaves are getting HUGE!!!
The saucers that were stuck together likely got wet at one point! I've had to pull terracotta pots apart like that after they got wet and dried while stacked together.
OMG stopppp. I'm so freaked out by my greenhouse lights like catching fire while I'm away. I ended up synching up my Alexa to the Kasa units so at least I can make sure they're functioning correctly or turn them on & off if needed via Alexa app
My wishlist plants all look so weird. I love weird shaped leaves or palm like fronds. The one I want the most is Amydrium Zippelianum. It looks so pretty and interesting to me.
Woah that ¿variegated? Subhastatum 🤩 wonder if the grower thought it was reverted and sold it as regular and when you cut it back it grew through a variegated node?
I had the same issue with the mother lights sadly ☹️ I ended up having to use magnets, because the heat from the lights kept making 3m strips detach from the cabinet roof. I bought really strong magnets from Amazon and zip tied them to the lights. I haven’t had the issue again!
@@thatonedog819 once they’ve been on awhile they are very hot to the touch. A fire hazard for sure. Hoping mother will provide different options in the future, especially given the price of the lights.
@@thatonedog819 Yep. High powered lights need a heat sink built in to distribute the heat. I use an AI Prime light on my saltwater tank, and it's been known to (when people are setting it up and have it lying lights-down on the couch) actually burn holes in the couch because the LEDs are so powerful. Mine has a fan built in as well too reduce heat.
Love your videos Fern, and like to watch anything you do with plants, watering, potting, general show and tell. I have been confused about the siltapecana, mine is labelled as a philodendron, not a monstera. It has philodendron characteristics, and less so like a montsera. I have heard others say it is a monstera as well, do you know if there are two types? Mine looks exactly like yours.🌱🌿
Your hair looks so cute I can’t😍 I do think the velcro strips would hold your lights, they’re really strong. Also can’t wait for your spooky repot videos, they always scare the bejesus out of me🙈
Thank you for another wonderful video. I grow both of my monstera stilepana (I really spelled that incorrectly) as trailers. They have exploded with growth so much that I’ve given them a haircut and will likely have three plants. I might try that one as a hanging plant. They do become pretty top heavy.
i would not recommend velcro....mine fell. I'd get the magnet hooks. You only need the hooks and they attach to top inside on the cabinet. They are super strong.
It helps to keep Julau in a terrarium type environment put plastic or glass over the top i poke some air holes in with toothpick . It’s worked for me she can Never dry out Or be too wet because I had one just disintegrate When the Moss was too wet 💕🌱 tfs
i like when you water during your videos! especially when there is music in the background :) if ppl don’t like that, you could just provide the time that you’re not watering anymore so we are able to skip it :)
Amazon has Gorilla double sided clear tape. It is ridiculously strong. No worries if you use that. You can put it up and then try to pull the light off. You'll see.. Very strong. 2 pieces 6" long would be major overkill. A roll will do a lot for you.
I noticed this too, on mobile TH-cam and especially on my TV. I was coming here to say I saw it around that time and the 10:00 mark in general. Hopefully it's just some harmless surface mold.

I have two monstera siltepecana, one trailing and one used to be hanging. The hanging is now trellised.
