The area where South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia meet are some of the most rugged and densely forested areas in the country. I vacationed in Cashiers, NC a couple year ago. That's no more than 15 miles or so from the lake. Just a beautiful area. No telling what could be in those mountains.

Go to eastern Kentucky where I'm from, Ive hiked in many different states and those hills in eastern kentucky just have a different vibe altogether. I use to ginseng everyday of my life in those mountains and I can promise you its a different world there. There are certain places where you dont stop, dont look around, idc if both of your shoes are untied you keep it moving and get outta there. My grandpa taught me when I was very young to stay away from those places that give me a bad vibe and dont feel right. Your intuition will let you know every time, its so weird

SC here, and when I was teaching, I had a local minister assigned to my classroom to help with testing. She was a black minister from the local church, and was wonderful to work with. She was very dignified, as pastors usually are, and my class had the upmost respect for her that week. However, on the last day of testing, we had finished testing and were waiting on other classes to finish. We were sharing scary true stories that happened to us. One of my students shared he thought he heard a Sasquatch in the woods once. The minute he said that, the pastor set up and had the biggest eyes and terror is the only way I can describe her look. She said that she believed they were real because she saw one as she was getting off of interstate 95, Hollyhill Exit. She said she saw a tall figure in her headlights and it was hairy and upright, but running near the edge of the woods faster than any human could. I truly felt chills at her story, and my students went home scared that day. With her being a pastor and the look on her face when she heard Sasquatch, it cemented my belief in them, too. I asked her again after the class left about her encounter, and same story, same look, same description. Just thought I’d share why I’m even on this channel! I grew up in the lowcountry woods, exploring with my brother. We’ve had some very strange happenings, and now that I’m older, I’m always looking for answers to the things we encountered. Great video... Being from South Carolina living about 2 hours south of Jocassee I have fished that lake many times. I have a story that might be sasquatch related or may not. Many years ago back in the early 2000's myself and a good friend (JIM) use to go up to Jocassee and fish for brown trout during the day and sometimes at night out of his boat...We planned a fishing trip one night and pulled up at Devels Fork boat ramp and put the boat in the water and left the ramp and drove a few miles up the lake and tied off between two points with ropes and set up our boat for a night of trout fishing. It was a clear cold night with no moon shine...Very very dark night...After a few hours around 230am we starting hearing a owl off to our right up the mountain. A few minutes later we heard a 2nd owl more straight in front of us up the mountain. Then a 3rd owl sounded off sorta to our left and one more a 4th owl to our far left. We just joked about how many owls are out talking tonight. These owls sounded off for a few minutes at least 45 and they stopped all 4 stopped at the same time...I remember saying to my friend wow "Now it's super quiet" and we continued fishing with nothing else happening...Now that time has passed and hearing of reports that sasquatch make different sounds and may copy other animals I wonder was that a group of sasquatch watching us out alone on the water with our lights (Lanterns and boat lights) on in the pitch dark just fishing and talking. Again one owl is common I would think but 4 owls singing at one time. I have to wonder? I will say that area around Jocassee is definitely remote. Enjoyed the video!

That happened to my son and daughter-in-law when they were camping in the Laurel mountains 4 years ago now. My son said an owl woke him up at 3:00 a.m. and it would hoot on one side of the tent and then another one on the other side of the tent and it kept them awake for 15 minutes back and forth hooting very loudly. My son finally fell back to sleep but my daughter-in-law couldn't sleep and she said about 15 minutes later something huge came lumbering up through the camp and it had a very guttural breathing sound and she thought maybe a bear. But I think it was a big foot.

Native Sandlapper here. Thank you for covering this beautiful but often overlooked state!!
I would quickly like to add my own experience that happened at Lake Jocassee.
I’m from the midlands but my brother and I had been invited by some family friends to stay in a rental cabin at Lake Jocassee for the weekend.
We arrived at the cabin the first night with the sun already setting and not much light left. My two friends and my brother and I decided to run around the cabin to take a look at the area before it became too dark.
After running around the side of the cabin I ended up about 50 or 60 feet in front of the others.I had stopped just to look around and probably was afraid to go much further without the others.
That’s when it happened. I had a rock thrown at me! It wasn’t a violent throw and it wasn’t even that big of a rock. Normal sized rock a person would throw.
It flew by to the right of me,harmlessly rolling a few feet.It came from in front of me and all my friends were behind me. I immediately ran back and said, ‘hey I had a rock thrown at me and everyone just laughed it off.
I just remember being so freaked out thinking it was some crazy person out in the woods.I was around 13 or 14 at the time.
Of course 30 yrs later it seems this sort of thing happens in a lot of Bigfoot sightings. I never saw anything or smelled anything but I’ve wondered if this could’ve been a Bigfoot experience.

Born and raised in upstate south carolina - salem and clemson. My familys land in salem literally meets the jocassee gorges property line.. ive always called it the wildwoods because its is super remote and beautiful land up there - basically untouched by us humans, thankfully. We have deer, bear, wild hogs, mountain lions, panthers (though dnr will say otherwise) all come through our property with different seasonal changes.. game cameras to check them out. Id never heard of bigfoot being around, until i moved to westminster and they have an annual bigfoot parade! Hes a local celebrity and apparently has been spotted around here for decades. I then started paying attention more - i have several photos of 'feet' prints that range in sizes from like 13-15 inches long (double the size of my bare foot inside them. So this is fascinating and awesome to see this mans encounter happening within about 2 miles of our property line or so. Wild !

Mountain lions?? There have been absolutely zero sightings of mountain lions in sc in over 100 years, and I’m not DNR, I’m just a hunter who was born and raised hunting every corner of the jocassee gorges. The panther legend is also not credible. I can only believe what I see, I’d love to see Bigfoot, but not gonna bet on it.

I have heard this growl he describes. When you hear it, you immediately know it is not anything other mammal we have. It sounds somehow like it is right upon you, but somehow not right upon you. It energizes the particles in the air around you. You can feel the difference in the air. I tried to describe as to a huge bear doing a warning growl, but as if It is amplified from a cave opening in some sense. It is so strange, it's not a sound we understand. The way I put it doesn't do it justice, and I'm aware of that. Look at it this way though. A sound that is made, that is like a growl. But, it is not a type of sound you have heard. As if the sound carries matter substance or matter..

Back in the 80's I was a Deputy assigned to patrol the area along the NC/SC border and late one night I was dispatched to a lady's home that was WAY WAY out in the boonies because she reported hearing "a bear or something" in the woods behind her house...
She met me at her front door saying you're going to think I'm crazy but there's something big moving around in the woods back there...I checked behind her house & didn't hear anything but there was an overpowering feeling of something in those woods watching me ... waiting on me to come closer....
I spoke with the homeowner again & told her honestly that I hadn't seen or heard anything, but just in case she might want to go stay at a friend's house for the rest of the night...way ahead of you, she replied, saying that she was going to her sisters house & I have to say I felt VERY relieved as I followed her car away from that house ...
I kept telling myself that I was being ridiculous...that I was a grown man ..an armed & trained L.E.O. so there should be no reason for me to have the heebie jeebies....& all of thwt was 100% correct....but there was still NO way I would have gone into those woods that night ..
Was whatever back there a Bigfoot...one of those mountain lions thet Wildlife Biologists keep saying don't exist in thst area, yet people keep seeing them ???...
Beats me ..but something was definitely watching me that night & waiting for me to get closer .... I sincerely believe that if I had gone into those woods, I wouldn't have made it out alive... seriously.

I live in Western Washington. After watching this interview on the boat on the lake, I was paying attention to the thick forest in the backdrop. I was thinking to myself that's just like where I live.
I'm going to say this about here, Western Washington. I believe the reason you hear about so many accounts of sasquatch from this region is because this is where people go to hike and so many residents live on the outskirts of the forests.
Before COVID-19 occured the city of Seattle only had a population of 850 plus thousand. Now the city has 60% of that. So what a lot did just before and during COVID-19 is move to the outskirts towns or to these residents that border forests. Some property holders own land boarding national park lands or reserves.
Washington State does have Mt Rainier that is a major attraction for tourism and is one the mountains they use to train for summiting K2 or Everest. If you can't summit(get to the top of Mt Rainier you won't be allowed to summit or hike higher mountains throughout the world).
So these expansive forests that will gobble you up even without any Sasquatch or any other predatory animals. Because if you see a cougar(mountain lion) it's too late. You are dinner. No joke a cougar is on the average 80 pounds and they can take a groen adult down in seconds. It's a house cat that's 80 to 100 pounds. They have a domain os 13 to 20 miles. We don't even know the range of a Sasquatch. If a Sasquatch is strong as a garilla, or stronger and they are communal. They communicate with each other. We, humans are so fortunate they don't want to come into the towns and cities.
Oh sorry I'm rambling. One last point and I'm waiting till the last interview. That flash he mentioned is that Sasquatch have been reported to be able to teleport and that flash it what the event is being experienced. When he was up in the tree stand he didn't see anyone, the Sasquatch have the ability to cloak just like in the Predators do in movie series.
I've never experienced a Sasquatch in person, but for years I've been watching documentaries and listening to testimonials of encounters. I find it so interesting. Maybe because it's apart of the culture in Western Washington, Oregon, California Idaho and BC, Canada.
Keep up the open mindedness of the subject. I believe they can sense out intensions individually. So they stay away or let there presence be known. Take care

That was a good interview with Chuck. Thank you Chuck for sharing your experiences and encounters. Even after you shot one it didn't really faze it. Plus it silenced the goon dogs is remarkable. The flashes of light is a curious thing. What an excellent setting Miguel. Sitting in that boat on a nice calm lake surrounded by beautiful scenic nature all around. What a funny thing Chuck said, "we're they're favourite pastime", that's a thing I've wondered about too. For instance do they sit up in the hills in dense forests and watch us humans water sking on lakes and such? The missing people reports is the saddest thing all across North America, and there in the Appalachians.

When my brother shows up around 3:45-4am I explain to him what I herd and he says ahh man they do that almost every night night, so there’s a lake behind my parents house cow pasture and another lake across the street my dad brother and I have either herd and seen them but my mom wants absolutely nothing to do with them being that close to the house.

It went on and on. Whatever it was it brushed against my front door then continued on until I couldn't hear it anymore.

I am from SC, and my encounter happened when I was a little girl. It's been close to 55 years ago now, but I remember it like it was yesterday, and so do my brothers. My grandparents lived right at the foot of the Greenville water shed near the dam, up near Camp Old Indian. I may have been about 4 years old when I saw what I saw, and it's probably one of my most earliest memories. We were visiting with my grandparents that day, and my 2 older brothers, who were only a year or two older than I was, were all playing in the front yard, and I was with them. I remember watching my oldest brother riding on a tricycle while my youngest brother followed him around. They were in very close proximity to me when all of a sudden, both of my brothers looked toward me with huge eyes and their heads tilted back. I turned around only to see what had them frozen dead in their tracks, and to my suprise, I saw this white, furry, biped that was towering over me... had to be at least 7 ft or more. I didn't see the face, but it was in arms reach of me, and I saw the terrifying size of its body. Needless to say, we all took off running towards the house, and once we were there, we looked back, but no trace of the creature was to be seen. I always have wondered what the heck I saw and why it didn't hurt us. Some people like to believe it was my gaurdian angel, but It looked more like the abominable snowman off Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer cartoon than an angel with wings!

And like a blink of an eye everything light up like day. But it was blue light. And there was no clouds anywhere in tbe sky no rain no storms no sound. It wasn’t lightning.
