About Mabassa
Created by the Amsterdam-based (NLD) musicians Breno Virícimo and Nathaniel Klumperbeek, the group blends pop music with Brazilian and African influences. Besides their love for the bass, the musicians also share an interest in music-making and storytelling. "By composing our own songs, we find a way to voice our everyday inspirations, joys and frustrations. We make music to touch people and connect with them," they state. Mabassa has already released 3 albums: “Caçula” (2017) "Antes (Que Eu Esqueço) (2019) and "Live Studio 150" (2021).
"Olaiá Invites" was sponsored by New Amsterdam Jazz, a non-profit organization that develops various projects aiming to promote the new music scenery in the Netherlands focusing on youthful, diversified and international music. Besides organising musical ‘exchange missions' abroad, NAJ is involved in activities, but not limited to, such as: concerts in (prominent) jazz venues; meet-ups between international musicians; (youth) education projects; master classes, briefings, interviews; organising and producing musical projects.
