Much mahalo Unko Chris 🤙🏽 really helped me get out much farther. I read your comment about running an outside egg lead, what a great idea. Again, mahalo 🤙🏽
The company that produces the Tough Bubble thought so too & asked permission first before copying my idea. In return for years they keep sending me boxes of bags of bubbles to use.
I'm assuming they corrode if salt water gets in. I seal my tough bubbles. The only way for water to get in is if it cracks. At the time nobody thought of doing this & the president of the company asked me if they could incorporate my idea. Since then they ship me anything that i want for free in appreciation.
It's been six years now. Have you found that the noise bubbles work better than just water filled bubbles? Love your videos BTW. Tried dunking for the first time yesterday but the swell was too much for my 4 oz weight. Kept snagging up and loosing weight. Will try again. East side Big Island.
Just got back from fighting a Awa'awa & threw back a To'au. Suffering from heat exhaust right now. On these bubbles i've found just a few BB's in it makes such a racket that it attracts fish! Just add an outside lead egg. The president of the company was impressed with what i did to his products. He asked my permission to market what i did & in return he'd send me boxes of anything i need that he sells. My last box was during covid times and he sent me bags of more Tough Bubbles. I always give them out when i'm on location.
@@ScubaChris Great vids unko Chris! Quick question, is the external egg lead to simulate an unleaded hammer bomb effect + casting distance if you were to use less BBs? Thanks!
@@3DSi808 All personal preference. Less BB's means less casting distance but the noise is more "high pitched". So many ways of mixing all of this. Just find the one that you like & stick with it. Thanks:)
Thanks for video. I use 3 pellets of #4 birdshot to create a bit of rattling rattling sound but I also still fill it with water. Birdshot is lead, it never rust. I use the cheap walmart bubbles and they last if: 1. they are filled with water. water inside supports the plastic a bit upon casting impact. 2. wrap them once around the seam with clear packing tape before 1st use.
Wassup Chris! I really like your rattle idea! The first thing came to my mind was rust, I just made a rattle bubble with Airsoft pellets. No more worries about rust. Aloha.
Aloha Clyde, I found using super glue wasn't a 100% water-tight seal. So i used a soldering iron & then re-finished with super glue. Over-kill but it held. It does work by the way. If you look at many surface plugs/stick baits they do employ the same technology for "rattling". Thanks for watching my channel:)
UPDATE I NOW USE A SOLDERING IRON TO SEAL BOTH ENDS OF THE PLASTIC TOUGH BUBBLE INSTEAD OF SUPER GLUE. SO FAR MOISTURE HAS NOT SEEPED IN UNLESS THE BUBBLE GETS CRACKED.
I inherited a squadron II rod and was wondering if I can turn it into a whipping/dunking rig? If so, can you advise me as to what braid /mono lb test I should use. Thanks.
Those are either 7' or 7'6"? Depends on the power ratings. The light, extra light, med light i'd use a Stradic 3K with either 10lb braid or 8lb mono. The med heavy, heavy i'd probably use the same reel but up the line strength. The extra heavy i'd light plug with that using any Shimano 5K reek. This is what i'd use since you're asking me. Your style differs to mine so you may want to figure out your game.
Hi, It's actually 10'. I haven't tried it out yet, but will do so and see how it goes. Its a medium heavy rod, so it may not be the best, but I"ll try it out and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip. If not, what type of med / med light rod would you suggest for whipping? Thanksk.
Sounds like a good plugging & dunking rod. The newer models are only 7' & 7'6". For whipping my favorite is the Okuma Salmon Steelhead T40X series. The Fenwick HMG/HMX are also good. It's what i use. Heard the silver Nitro is ok as well. Also the Amia Asassin.
Any light to medium plugging rod would do. Depends on the weight you wish to throw. I found that 1.5oz worked the best in terms of weight & surface action. I used a 10-1/2ft Daiwa Coastal in this video.
@@ScubaChris I'm trying to make a rig that can cast far and sink slow to medium. I'm fishing fast current (from land) and want it to drift over the bottom. Do u think this will work? Will it sink if u completely fill it with water? If not any recommendations would help.
how many bb's go into making a 1.5oz? I don't have a scale but would really like to try this method out asap. Mahalos chris on the video. keep it up, glad I subscribed

Do the BB pellets rust?

Genius idea!
Simply ideas are always the most obvious. lol

that was awesome!

Very informative vid, thanks!

how do you add the BB's to the floater? (small ones) Does the BB's fit in the hole?
The .177 easily fits through the hole.
where do they sell the "better" plastic bubbles?
They are called "tough" bubbles. Brian's Fishing Supply & Charley's Fishing Supply on Oahu has them as i get my bubble from the 2 locations.
Never work for me today. But I like that I can know the weight. And it makes an lot of noise.
Hope it'll hit a fattie for you soon!

Thanks for watching my videos Heath Schwab! God Bless:)
Where do you get your bubbles?
On Oahu? Brian's Fishing Supply.
what size rod do you prefer to use, the one in your video looks pretty long

epoxy or silicone would seal better than super glue
Yes, it would. Thanks!

Try a Hammer Bomb "Unleaded".
www.hifishgear.com/collections/hammer-bombs
Super glue did not keep water out for me. Another angler had better luck with light activated glue. I am going to try that next.

It's in the video. For every 1/4oz of weight needed add 21 BB's.
such good information. shame the video quality sucks real bad.
easiest without spending a penny add sand
No rattling noise.
