Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy The Bird House! If you've ever volunteered or worked for LPBO I'd love to hear your recollections in the comments about living in the bird house at the tip of Long Point

I was a research assistant in the Migration Monitoring Program at Long Point during spring of 1984, 85, and 86 and then served as the Migration Program Manager and Operations Manager for LPBO during 1986-89. I really enjoyed this film - really well done, loved the current and archival footage of the point. It even included some fleeting shots of the LPBO station that washed away during the winter of 1985/86 and the one we build to replace it in 1988. The lake definitely calls the shots! As humans, we can only try to adapt as best we can.

Thank you for this wonderful film. You really captured the history and emotional attachment of that place. When the demolition started I had to look away. But the dedication and love of the bird researchers shows strongly, and the inspiration to carry on.

@@carolynking5470 Thanks for watching! It was hard to see it happen. I remember a year earlier sitting at the kitchen table having coffee with the birders

Beautiful, heartbreaking film - I was the Tip Warden (LPBO Assistant Coordinator) 2015-18 and lived in that house for the best part of 3 years! It is amazing how images of a single light fixture, wooden railing, door handle or Buss fuse evoke such strong memories... I can almost smell that house! Thanks for capturing this. What a special place and special memories.

Thanks Matt and thanks for sharing your recollections. When I was in that house in 2019 and again on the day before it was demolished, I could sense that the house held dear to so many and contained so many stories. I wanted to film every little detail like the door handle, bottle opener, house rules sheet, etc. I feel fortunate that I got to experience early morning coffee with a group living in that house. There's a vibe about life and work out there that is unforgettable
