I love the long Alex drawers, too. I stacked a 2nd set of the long drawers on top of the 1st. And of course, stored another set of smaller paper cubes on top of that. 🙃 It has worked perfect for 4 years and have had no issues with stability, bowing or drawer sliding in the lower unit. It is in a corner and I had the tall narrower Alex on the other side that also helped with stability. I put a set of velcro command strips on the corners between the 2 to help keep them from slipping. A strip of carpet grip mat would probably be even easier. You can secure them to the wall for safety since they are stacked. (I did not use the casters on either set and they are on a carpeted floor.)
I really like your storage systems, they make sense to me . I especially like the lazy Susans, and will invest in a couple. Also the way you store your embellishments, easy to see what you have, thanks for sharing, xxx
Love the idea of the cart for your daughter. I'm going to do this for my grandchildren who are 9 and 4. They love doing crafts and having it more accessible will be great. Thank you
Thank you for your tips. I am moving, and will have a new, bigger craft space. I will be heading to ikea to purchase 2 sets of those drawers. And I have 7 grandkids, who are all crafty, so I might need 2 of those rolling carts.
That’s so fun to set up a new space. I had to live in my new space for a while and eventually reorganize a bit to make my new room more functional. Your grandkids would be thrilled with the rolling carts I bet! I also have the small wood kids table and chair for my daughter and it makes for a great space.
It is so much fun to have her in here with me and to see her excited to craft! Plus it's a bonus for me to be able to spend more time in my craft room too. 🤣
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE hearing your top 10! And...I realized I'm using my desk caddy wrong 😂 mine keeps falling over and that's probably why! I LOVE the kiddy craft cart...so bright and cheerful 😊
I’m glad it was helpful 😂 Her craft cart was inspired by what I wished for as a kid…a rainbow of craft supplies in little containers! I definitely made that dream a reality as an adult!!!
I love the binder idea for stencils. I only have a few so far but I struggle how to stash them! I have a lot of ctmh products so I store a lot like you. The modular bins always look so neat all stacked
I love your organizing. Did you make your on tabs . It seem to be really nice size. Can you please inform me if so and how or where you purchase them .
Yes I did make my own tabs for my cardstock storage. I used a retired die set from CTMH called Z3983 Tab Thin Cuts. The total length is 3 3/4". Hope that helps!
I have the shelving for card stock so now I think I will slide the colours into plastic sleeves to make it easier to slide them in & out of the shelves as so far I haven't been happy with the system. As far as scraps go, I used to shove them into plastic bags when finished with a project but my daughter gave me her old desk side filing unit that now sits beside me & I was hoping to file the papers in there until I realised that it was only 10 inches high! ☹ So then I came up with the bright idea of using the files to put the different coloured scraps into them & they work great as I find myself looking in there now instead of getting up for another sheet of cardstock first & it has gotten rid of all the bags of scraps I had accumulated. I use the top two narrower drawers for keeping my bits & pieces in one & the other is overflowing with my distress oxide inks & still not enough space!! So I will have to keep thinking about another solution to where to store them. I love the idea of where to store your stencils & so I will go with that idea as mine are all over the place & so don't get used as it takes me ages to locate them all. I put an order in at CM for their new tab cutter a couple of days ago, so I will use it to make the tabs to put on the plastic sleeve tops so I can see the colour of cardstock in the bag before pulling the sheet out!! So I guess I am combining your idea & Julie's idea into one. So thank you to all you ladies for spending this week giving us all new ideas of how we may be able to utilize your idea into our space & to how our brain works (thanks Katy) as that comment really took the pressure off!!
Thanks for these interesting ideas. Unfortunately, when I started collecting cling and unmounted red rubber stamps, I discarded the plastic sheet they were sticking to in their original packing. So, now I have all sorts of piles of stamps that are really hard to organize. The heavy plastic envelope system doesn’t work because the stamps end up in a pile inside the envelope and don’t lay flat. Ive tried adhering them to every kind of plastic can find, but haven’t come across the right material. Do you have any idea how to get similar hard plastic sheets that will hold cling and unmounted stamps? If I could find that, I’d be able to cut the sheets for each group of stamps and then use the plastic envelopes for storage. But I’m stumped. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
ch unique and effective ideas for storage I am impressed, and, I love the cart you put together for your daughter, the earlier they start the more creative. and more talented they become, does she like to paint?, if so I have a ton of acrylic paint and brushes I can send to her, along with the holder they are sitting on, if you don't want them, I'll donate them to a local daycare, please let me know
The largest stencils I have are 12x12 so I haven't had to find a solution for anything bigger. You could try a command hook and hang them on the wall if you don't have too many.
Most of those thin cuts in the drawer are stand alone ones. I keep ones that coordinate with stamps in the stamp envelopes. I do combine several sets of thin cuts into one envelope when they’re small enough. Some of the card workshop sets have thin cuts that don’t coordinate with stamps and if it’s something I will grab a lot I’ll move it into my thin cut drawer for easy access. I hope that makes sense.
Organization is really a process! I have changed things slowly over time because sometimes you just don't know what will work for you until you try it. When just starting to organize your space try to think about do you need supplies visible so you'll use them or do you prefer things to be out of sight? What do you use the most? Those things should be close to you and easy to access. What types of things are your organizing and what size are they? Before investing in storage units and containers you need to know what the size is of the items you're organizing. The last thing you want is storage that doesn't fit your supplies well. I hope that helps and good luck designing your space!
It’s so hard to say!! It’s the 3 drawer Malm dresser from IKEA. If you check out my craft room tour you can see how I organize the 3 that I have. th-cam.com/video/ftjOPAazgNo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3oXL4ECRkkNYrzmJ

Another set of the long Alex drawers is on my wish list!

I love the binder idea for stencils. I only have a few so far but I struggle how to stash them! I have a lot of ctmh products so I store a lot like you. The modular bins always look so neat all stacked
I really recommend the binder method for stencils. It keeps them neat, tidy and easy to see everything you have.

Great tips, thanks for sharing. Did you says where you got the storage for your blending brushes from? I need those!!!
It's the Desktop Tool Holder from CTMH. chelsey.closetomyheart.ca/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=18174

Have you tried Amazon? You can get stencil plastic or plastic sheets in different thicknesses and those might work.

That’s so generous thank you. She is actually all set for paints and brushes and probably every other craft supply she could want. 😂
What about really big stencils?
The largest stencils I have are 12x12 so I haven't had to find a solution for anything bigger. You could try a command hook and hang them on the wall if you don't have too many.
Any idea where I could get the Workspace wonder since there is no more Close to My Heart?
There are still a few pieces left for really good deals on the CTMH site. www.closetomyheart.ca/Retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=245
Did you say you move your thin cuts that match a stamp set to your drawer with all of the other thin cuts?
Most of those thin cuts in the drawer are stand alone ones. I keep ones that coordinate with stamps in the stamp envelopes. Tried to order close to my heart items and it would not allow me to put in my city....so I didn't get very far.
Are you located in Canada? Unfortunately I can only sell to Canadians at this time.
@@ChelseyVorosmarty USA thanks anyway..
I use one of those organizers for spice packets for my scraps in colors, I keep the white in a separate bin, as I use them for sentiments often HTHs
i am have a hard time figure out organization. i have a she shed scrapbook place now i am have a hard time figure out what i want for organization

I don't like any box for paper I have 4 paper stackers 2 12x12,& 2 8.5x11 that go on a pegboard
Is she saying Mom dressers from IKEA? I’m working on massively purging + moving into a sun room for crafting - all windows + not much wall space!
I believe she is saying Malm.
