Easily best TOP world champion driver interview ever. Great to see passion is still there like as young boys. Juha - The King, no need for part time seasons :-) Nicky, when ever you visit 1000 lakes in Jyväskylä I would be more than happy to be your personal chauffeur with my sapphire Cosworth. Looking forward to your request. Thanks!
Juha’s always been one of my all time favorites. Always seemed so cool, calm and collected, under the immense pressure of racing for Works teams. Could’ve done without the background distractions, but I’ll take what I can get, when it comes to free content lol. Thanks
Juha is the most down to earth champion there is. Allways loved him and recognized him as the greatest of all. Still is within the top three. Great interview from great co-driver. I would watch hours more of this kind of interviews.
I was watching rally corse 2003 yesterday and it’s been the most dramatic end to a rally I’ve seen big up to the two legends Juha and Nicky watching those highlights from back in those it was so exciting with the young drivers like Peter Solberg🇳🇴 Sebastian Loeb🇫🇷 an Marko Martin I make me love the WRC more 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Absolutely brilliant! Juha has always been a motorsport hero of mine, to have won in old rwd escorts, Group B, Group A and still giving the youngsters a run for their money and winning in the WRC cars, a total legend.
I just love it how Juhas eyes begin to shine like he is back at those stages in those cars what he drove. Juha was my childhood hero and I was there at 1994 1000 lakes rally. It was at day two and I was so sad, because Juha wasnt leading, but when I saw that Celica flying past us, just for few seconds, made my day. Thank you Juha and Nicky for those memories, i will never forget those
They say you should never meet your heroes. Juha proved this to be wrong. It was about 7 or 8 years ago when I met him in a Finnish classic sports car event; it started to rain outside while Juha was standing under a pergola-type structure, with not too much of room left. He noticed that I was standing there in the pouring rain and becoming soaking wet so he asked me to step under the roof. After a short discussion we took a photo of both of us. Not only a rally legend but also a super nice gentleman. Best regards to Juha Kankkunen and very best Season's Greetings! 🎄🎅🏼🏆
I listened to nicky on a podcast with chris harris he has an amazing memory and remembers every detail probably what makes him king of the hill as a co driver.. wonderful to see juha looking healthy and happy... amazing driver happy days
Superb! It's great to hear the enthusiasm of both these two and so refreshing to have an interviewer with such knowledge that he can ask all of the right questions. Lots more of this sort of content please - it's priceless!!!
Brilliant video, Juha is my all time hero. My 7 year old son had the pleasure of sitting in Nicky's Celica at the Eifel Rallye Festival this year 🏴👍
WOW haven't seen Juha on screen for a while, forget how old he must be 😮still a proper legend of rallying tho, remember listening to you talk in the St Georges Hotel in Llandudno one Sunday morning a few years ago, I envied your career and admire your change of career back in the day, Im 30 odd years in Golf as a Golf Club Pro and always loved rallying but never had funds or chance to do it 🙄although i do enjoy steering with the rear when out in the MK1 Mexico 👌and as I'm sure you do we all miss Colin 🥲
Juha is all time hero driver to me. Could listen these stories much longer. That thousand lakes 94 was something with Celica 185. Big disappointment at lankamaa and then crazy attack until the end. Hope we get part 2 later.
Well I'm crushed, my dream car toyota ST205 GT FOUR AND RALLY HEROES. 1994 K-AM 7098. CAR NO.1 NETWORK Q RAC RALLY, SUNDAY MORNING at Carden Park near Chester,( i would love to know what happen to that car?) watching you guys in the rain. Awesome....... Love the video and the chat.Thank you. Wish it was longer. You should do a video with juha, with his car collection. 🏴
Great to hear these stories, Nicky. Opportunity allowing, would love to hear you chat with people like Dave Richards and Malcolm Wilson to reminenicse about your time with Subaru and Ford too. Keep well 👍
this is why juha is forever the GOAT to me. all the different eras and cars. consistently at the top. i have immense respect to the sebastiens too but you just cannot compare it
I remember the episode that he experienced in his own car (and that he tells in the video) in the '86 Acropolis rally when two cut fingers appeared on the rear radiators of his Peugeot in the side intakes of the rear windows where the air intakes were located just within their framework. The crazy spectators of the 80s who were dedicated to betting to see if they would touch the cars when they sped by. I was very amused by the stunned look on Jean Todt's and Juha's face when they saw them when they were lifting the rear part of the bodywork (there's a recorded video of the moment). It's one of the great anecdotes told from the Group B era.
Two true legends totally top of their game. I grew up watching both of them through the 90s and early 2000s. Juhas dry humour when he was driving for ford i believe he was behind carlos and told a camera crew he must keep pushing to keep him awake or carlos will fall asleep 😂😂.
Thanks for this. Lovely to see Juha and hear his fascinating stories. How about Juha and Nicky in an RS1800 Escort MkII in the 2025 Robert Albert Clark Rally?
Legends, I met Juha at Goodwood perhaps 16 yrs ago, got his signature, being a long time Lancia fan, was amazing, I got Miki Biasons signature on the same Lancia Pamphlet that had previously been signed, when met him in 2021, and he signed my integrale evo too.
Great to see these two back together. Although, Juha forgot there was a 5th Group B champion - Walter Röhrl in 1982. I was rather sad to hear Juha didn't get on with the ST205, my favourite Celica GT-FOUR.
KKK first time in 1984 Toyota in Sintra stages handbraking downhill Numbers 11 what a show ❤ The LEGEND is still The BEST😊 Thanks Nicky from Sintra Lisboa 👌
There was a switch in the ST205 ?? I thought it was just the restrictor o-ring that gave extra power. 🤔 .... so what did the switch do ??? First time I've heard this Nicky. Please elaborate.
@fredrikalmqvist6700 , highly doubt it. Remember, under scrutineering the turbo assembly looked compliant externally until it was pulled apart to reveal the bypass. No wires leading to it.
Is the ST205 much harder to drive and slower than the ST185 purely because of its Super Strut front suspension or are there any other factors that also cause its handling issues?
So it was Australia when was firstly used the cheating turbo... I always thought it was Portugal because of that comment from Toyota crew talking about a new "chip" that gave more power, and that boost at the super special was noticeable... Maybe Nicky is mixing rallys.
I think many still have a theory that they used it for more than Australia, but it can't really be proven. So I guess the "safest" way is to say it was only Australia.
Nicky. Young people are crazy, in crowds. That is what my worldwide road safety message is about. Will you kindly reply, and say you will be a great passenger in journeys made much safer? I wrote you an emotive story about FMC, and cannot believe you have not replied
Juha and nicky should team up for rac 2025
👍👍👍👍👍👍

1million percent!!! That wud be awesome

King kankkunen! Loved watching him compete and his dry sarcastic humour!❤
One of my favourite drivers of all time. Glad to see he seems to be good bloke as well. Most of the finish drivers seem to be like that really.
Legend👍
Juha’s always been one of my all time favorites. Always seemed so cool, calm and collected, under the immense pressure of racing for Works teams. Could’ve done without the background distractions, but I’ll take what I can get, when it comes to free content lol. Thanks
Amazing guy, I met him at Goodwood and it was lovely to talk to him 🙏
Terve Juha, in my eyes you were the best driver ever that the World Championship has seen. Thank you for the years of entertainment 👌🏴
Well done, has to be one of the best podcast interviews I've ever seen and listened to.
My Idol.. 👍👍👍👍👍
Needs more Cigar. Great interview, lovely pairing these two.
Thank you so much for this interview.
Great stuff. RAC 93 was such an amazing event, Juha was utterly at the peak of his powers, a joy to watch from the outside.
This was remarkable. Thank you Nicky for this discussion, and thank you Juha. Kyllä lähti!
Juha is the most down to earth champion there is. Allways loved him and recognized him as the greatest of all. Still is within the top three. Great interview from great co-driver. I would watch hours more of this kind of interviews.

I was in Dalby that year, epic legend Juha.
Absolutely brilliant!

Oh boy... I wish we all could be as young as in 1993... Juha is my idol since I've seen him driving on TV back then.❤⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤

Juha and Nicky are total legends, the 80s and 90s drivers were my boyhood heroes. Tbe Lombard RAC rallies were essential viewing ❤

Great interview and memories from 2 of the most iconic persons. The only thing I noticed.... When did we get so old.
A wonderful conversation between two rally greats!

Didn't recognize you had your own channel! Nice to see, this is a must watch video for me.
What a blast from the past. Especially Group B. Thank you so much..

I love these kinds of videos Grist, can you do more of them with other drivers?
Yes please, I enjoyed that. Great to hear anecdotes. I really like Juha, genuine man and a great driver.
Thanks for this. Lovely to see Juha and hear his fascinating stories. How about Juha and Nicky in an RS1800 Escort MkII in the 2025 Robert Albert Clark Rally?
Brilliant stuff! Would be great to get a similar interview with my local hero, Alén.
Great to hear from Juha on the Group B era.
Two absolute legends of the sport! Thanks for this insightful conversation.
Nicky - legend ,thanks for these videos
I just love the great Welch Wizard and Juha is too much fun. Were the Group B cars dangerous? "Well you had a brake pedal as well" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Nice story. Thank's
Legends, I met Juha at Goodwood perhaps 16 yrs ago, got his signature, being a long time Lancia fan, was amazing, I got Miki Biasons signature on the same Lancia Pamphlet that had previously been signed, when met him in 2021, and he signed my integrale evo too.
that was ace!
Loved every minute of this
Great to see these two back together. Although, Juha forgot there was a 5th Group B champion - Walter Röhrl in 1982. I was rather sad to hear Juha didn't get on with the ST205, my favourite Celica GT-FOUR.
Fantastic interview, very entertaining 😊
Great video. Thank you Nicky.
"kyllä lähtee!" the best ever startup for a interview, isnt it?

Legends!
There was a switch in the ST205 ?? I thought it was just the restrictor o-ring that gave extra power. 🤔 .... so what did the switch do ???
First time I've heard this Nicky.
Please elaborate.
Must be the switch engaging the cheat mode... Opening the bypass.
@fredrikalmqvist6700 , highly doubt it. Remember, under scrutineering the turbo assembly looked compliant externally until it was pulled apart to reveal the bypass.
No wires leading to it.
@@michaelb6729 It sure was a clever system, but who knows how it really was constructed? 🤔
Is the ST205 much harder to drive and slower than the ST185 purely because of its Super Strut front suspension or are there any other factors that also cause its handling issues?
With Focus he mean the Escort WRC of 97/98.
Pretty sure he’s talking about the Focus WRC he drove at the 2010 Rally Finland, since he says it’s the car he drove last.
Come on you 2, do rac 2025!!!

41340 posse!
Could they not superimpose a moustache on Juha?
