In most vehicles I would agree (my first vehicle did it to me), but that thing has hydraulic ram steering, I don't think anything is ripping that wheel around.

Hayden Rowe there is a huge difference between a walmart DOT approved helmet and a helmet with a snell or ECE rating. I wouldnt ever wear anything with less than a snell rating. ECE being ideal
@@jarrodhowell1101 in this situation, it's not a big difference. There's nothing for him to hit his head on, so the helmet strength/padding/shock adaption are not being strained. Their necks are taking ALL of the force. Esp in a roll over. They should be worried about their necks.

Make sure you inspect that roll cage and the tube frame very very carefully and completely, make sure it did not bend anywhere even places that didn't take any impact check for kinks in the tubing and check every weld for breaks or cracks before you take it out again...many times no damage shows at impact points it is possible the damage could be elsewhere in the chassis because the impact forces are transfer to other parts of the structure

Get the roll cage looked at sir just to be safe bet each time it rolled they had it checked out make sure the welds arnt cracked etc make sure the antenna is ok for the transmitter of the data back to the crew is ok

Just an FYI for towing, you wanna keep the majority of the weight as close to the tow vehicle as possible. With the Ultra4 being mid engine and being that far back on the trailer, it could fishtail easy.

Mass_Killer_SJM - Just because it didn't happen once doesn't mean it is guaranteed to not happen in the future.
@Kevin Biggerstaff - I don't /entirely/ know how trailer weight is measured, but you still want the majority of the weight closer to the front. It's usually like a 60/40 split. You don't get to see many good shots of how they have it loaded, but if you freeze right around 2:18, it's about the best you're gonna get.
The back tire of the Ultra4 is totally behind the trailer fenders, which would make the engine sitting on the rear trailer axle, if not a bit behind it. There's also like 4 foot of trailer that's totally empty in the front, the weight distribution is probably like... 70% to the rear, which isn't good.

If you wanna go fast in the open fields, turn and/or cut donuts, you need to get some tires (all 4) with not much tread/slick so you can slide a little and not grip... Those tires on it now are gonna roll you A Lot of times cause they bite the ground good; and remember that with the flex of the suspension, with the increased travel of it, it will dip and start the roll for you at high speeds. Turning sharpe and quick to cut donuts or make it slide takes a Stiff Suspension.... Mere sees that happen with you in it, I can see the ultra 4 gone.😉

How do you figure? He's got coilovers, triple bypasses and adjustable swaybars. How much more adjustment does he need? That being said, everything has it's limits and no amount of adjustment will cure high speed turns with a high center of gravity.
I was thinking the tire pressure was probably pretty low as well.

Has to do with weight distribution and center of gravity. Too high center of gravity, and it'll roll easily.
Hey, Matt. A little suggestion on the way you load and haul. Back up the Ultra since the engine is in the back and park the Ultra toward the front of the trailer. You'll have better stability and prevent the trailer from swaying. 😀👍

Matt you gotta go on a driving course or something, your steering form is bad, one hand on the wheel another on the shifter and your thumbs tucked in will end up with a broken thumb when it hits a rock and spins the wheel out of your grip.

No hes actually doing really well for a beginner. Would you correct a prostock driver for driving with one hand on the shifter and one on the wheel doing 215mph because they arent all automatics. A good bit are sequential stick. Out of the 1000 or so passes I have made in my manual Camaro running high 7's nothing insane I've yet to have come across a broken thumb which would be much easier to do in that, tgen a truck with hydraulic ram steering.

Hey matt, i dont know how familiar you are with towing trailers, but with that big ultra 4 truck, and the rear mounted engine, i would pull it as far forward on the trailer as i could, otherwise, you’re likely to have a lot of weight at the back of the trailer, and if you take it on the highway, or build up any serious speed, you’ll get a lot of trailer sway, and it’ll be really freaky.

I have a 91' Ford F350 with a 460 engine and an E4OD trans. It gets slightly over eleven when empty but two cars being flat towed behind the truck it got 10.3 mpg. Seemed it never got below 10 even pulling a really heavy goose neck trailer over the sister(really big pair of hills in Wyoming) Just a beast. So much for modern tech being so fuel efficient.

Install some type padding on the seats for your head, sort of like monster trucks, its not really padding but it holds your head in place when rolling, luckly he didnt suffer neck injuries. I highly recommend to look into that. Be part of the truck.
Or just get a Hans device. It's a racing apparatus that you wear over your shoulders and behind your head that straps to your helmet and restricts neck movement. Majority of racers have them now days.
Well, a HANS device would be a better suggestion, they just got lucky that this roll was pretty mild. If he ever intends to race this thing, the sanctioner will likely have a rule in place that requires one, so he may as well get it and get used to using it, even if they are only just clownin like this. As the old saying goes "it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt and the fun is definitely over when you're the one with a broken neck".

Matt, do yourself, your family and your guests a favor and get some proper gear. Helmets are great and all, but with a machine that's capable of that much momentum, you need to invest in fire suits, gloves, good quality racing helmets and Hans devices. Reach out to Simpson or someone that makes the gear. With as much content as you put out, they'd probably be more than happy to sponsor you a set of gear or two for a quick advert or maybe even just having some decals on your truck...

Mere is so adorable, I couldn't stop smiling the whole time during that scene.
If you take the spare tire off the top, it would definitely lower the center of gravity a bit and in turn lower the chances of it flipping. But with those insane grip tires, it'll always want to flip. It wasn't designed for fish tailing which is what you guys keep trying to do. The only way to safely fish tail it is to not pussyfoot your way around it... hammer it down while going slow and do it, but the moment you feel it's getting traction, stop fish tailing cuz you'll flip.

Just inside of Kentucky there's an OHV area at LBL (Land Between the Lakes). It has some amazing trails that are fairly difficult but are a great time. You wont be able to go full throttle on the the yellow and red trails because they go both ways and the blues are just retardedly hard in some sections that push all trucks to the limits of its crawling. I for got to mention that when the waters low on the lake there is a sand bar that goes part way across the lake that every body goes on to do donuts. Hope to see you there.

Chad Blanks This type of seat isn’t designed for a hans. He would need a foam collar for this type of seat, since it doesn’t have head supports on either side. He’d need a full containment seat to run a HANS (which wouldn’t be a bad idea)

Next time you do that, put the trucks transmission in neutral and set the park brake so your not hammering the parking pawl in the transmission.
Little Tip from a fellow off roader. Set your parking brake on the truck, chock the tires of the trailer, and put blocks underneath the back of the trailer. It will make loading a lot less intimidating along with a lot less stress on the truck and trailer.

I know the deep down feeling because my buddy rolled my racer with me in co-pilot seat on 2nd test day but he snapped rear axle-Tweaked roof frame-damaged front suspension. We had to be dragged out of a canyon 4 miles through rocky 6 hrs terrain causing more suspension damage $6000 in repairs. So now know one drives the racer but me. My wife made that clear! Lol. FYI build a vary good chase truck for rescue/recovery in case this happens. Always have a Satellite phone for emergency’s sometimes the radio does not always get out deep in the canyons. Safety Safety brother.
