PLANNING to start posting way more content. Another video coming out on Friday. Came back out the next day to cook an EEL in a HUUUUGE bar of butter only lol. Got a ton of stuff to show and tell you all about in the next few weeks!
In 1960 my parents and I watched a Asian guy named Victor catching big monkey faced eels at Princeton (Half Moon Bay) in the Northern Tide Pools under the Big Radar Station past the North Breakwater. He used a bamboo poll with stainless wire connected to the hook. We watched him catch 10 eels in under a half hour and they were big, some as much as 5 feet long. So we know this guy fished for eels before the 1950's and sold them in China Town in San Francisco. We talked to him a lot because we fished almost every weekend from Friday night to Sunday afternoon and we finally bought a bigger boat we used for long line fishing. Eels were not worth much but Rock Cod and Ling Cod were fun to catch back in those days. Now I live in Israel and fish the Med and Sea of Galilee. It is nice to see fishing hasn't changed much. I would use braided stainless instead of Mono line. That's the way the old timers did it.
Last year i tried pole poking. Fishing coast of maine where i live about an hour from. Very first deep hole i found i poked. Within 12 seconds i had a eel on. Pulled it out. It was a decent size american eel. Wish i had a video of it. It was super fun and i was almost in shock. Thank you for your dedication and inspiration!

I love pole poling been doing for ten plus years. I suggest using a longer leader about 6-8 inches long it flows better with the movement of the water will get you into more holes

Matts. Those eels has no spines I mean not like a rockfish. So no worries about getting poked. Only thing you have to worry is it's mouth, but it doesn't just bite you, unless you put your finger in there. It's defense is being slippery and it has all the strength to slitter out.
When you go to put your tire back on, be sure to tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern. This will ensure the wheel gets tightened down evenly. If the tire is not tighten evenly, you could end up spinning it off the hub.
I remember that poke hole spot, camera placed in same spot. Poke hole fishing is a million years old. You’re doing good Matts, looking forward to more vids
Might be worth looking into protective coating for your car! Here in Canada, it's pretty much necessary for all the salt we put on the roads in Winter.
Can't wait for the next vid. They're seriously underrated as an eating fish. Slimy but the bones are small and the meat is clean and white. Should be really good poached in some butter 😋
Not sure if youre aware of this, but they ship new rotors with a layer of oil on them. Spray with brake parts cleaner and wipe with a clean rag before installation
You should check out Moslanding Ca. You'll manly catch Rockfish, Sting Rays, sharks, and a bunch of random things. But if you go I recommend fishing of the jetty.

I usually do this with a fishing rod and a 50 lb mono and shrimp.....I need to try this bamboo technique.
I would suggest using an ice fishing pole. It's about 2 feet long and you get all the action benefits fishing it.
