Are you guys going with an anonymous donor? I'd say at the very least, let the kid choose to meet them when they're 18. I was conceived from an anonymous egg donor and I've felt completely lost my entire life. I feel like I don't know who I am. I also have no medical history from my mother's side. It's really dangerous and depressing. I'm 25 now, and since she was anonymous, I'm still not legally allowed to have any information on her. Ever. I'm a lesbian too, and I feel like being born like this has helped me with future planning. But I really don't want anyone to have to go through this.
they said they're letting the kid have the option of finding out who their donor is! :) i'm so sorry you had to go through that, i can only imagine how hard it is not knowing that part of your history
