Husqvarna 576XP Chainsaw Won't Idle

Todays repair looks at a Husqvarna 576XP chainsaw with a customer complaint that it won't idle. There are a few reasons why so lets try to find them. Oh and the starter is jacked up too.

That's a touch saw. I have a question on your torque spec: i understand the tighten until it strips part, but can you give the metric measure for backing off half a turn?

You'll need a digital torque wrench that reads degrees. Convert 180 degrees to celcius then divide that by the square root of the saws displacement. This formula will get you close enough but these saws really like to be torgued to Newton Meters. Don't get me started on newton Meters.

Have that same light. always worried about it touching fuel and You just bury it in the tank. Now I know I guess. It doesn't matter lol.

I've had several of those lights and treated them all the same way. Gas was never an issue. They always had issues with the flex wand.

Scott: there are loose screws in there. Me: whoever is running that saw has a loose screw. How do people expect something to just keep running forever with absolutely no maintenance. Just put gas in it and keep hammering down the throttle!

Great video I picked up a toasted 576AT model and new OEM cylinder assembly at the end of the rebuild will it need any special calibration?

Not if you are using the same carb and ignition module.

Is this saw about the same as a 575xp I think I am having the same problem I had a little trouble with idling and sent it to the shop but never done much good. But this sounds like my trouble. I have a question can those limits be taken off the carburetor adjustment? No problem with air filter by the way.

There are a lot of possible reasons why it might not idle. I'm surprised the shop couldn't at least find the reason. Yes the limiters can be removed if necessary.

I took the cover off the top, the clutch off it all looked good no slake on the bearing under the clutch. Put it back together it would start for a few seconds and die. The more I tried to get it to run it would idle real high and die.

@@scobie4252 The proper thing to do now is pressure/vacuum test the engine. An air leak can cause a high idle and a whole lot of other issues.

i have a good way to solve this too low ideal speed and you cant start it easy. problem. first you need take out the carbrator and release the screw in the center if the round plate and turn this plate about 3degree and fasten the screw again. then you can get a increased ideal speed engine about 3000rpm. that will be a easy way to increase the ideal speed on a right speed. sorry for my poor english. i dont know if you can understand my chinease english.
