Traffic is much lighter in midtown this week. I took a city bus (M7) down Columbus Ave and 7th Avenue at 5;30pm Tuesday. Normally the trip would have taken 30 minutes to go 30 blocks. With the new system it took about 10 minutes. I know there's other ways of thinking about it but I'm a believer--Congestion pricing is good!
@@CasualScrub except heres the kicker the MTA still says they are 30B short even with the toll, frankly to me the only improvement that should be priority should be to make every station accessible. the 2nd ave subway is dumb because the M15 is already the most used bus line by ridership and will only be faster with congestion pricing, the lightrail from BK to QNs is dumb because there was a cheaper and better queenslink plan but the MTA is full of designers and not engineers apparently. They can never finish 1 project before starting the next
@@shasavi97 I think they are 15B short with the toll, rather than 30B short. So the toll helps a lot. Maybe they should introduce other schemes like a Roosevelt Island Limited Traffic Zone in the mold of many Italian ZTL type schemes, for example, and further reduce car traffic.

Obviously you don't understand how the MTA works. My husband works for the MTA. The projects aren't the fault of the workers but the mismanagement from the white shirts that sit in offices all day. My husband works for the buses in maintenance. last night there was an issue w/the heaters in the depot not working and therefore causing the garage doors to freeze up. The MTA ordered some heaters years ago and some of them don't work and finding the parts is now a hassle. Because the MTA buys stuff, lets it rot and then scratches its rear ends when parts don't work. In turn smart folks like you blame the workers instead of blaming management. Gov Murphy openly opposed the congestion plan but in this interview he says New Jersey will benefit economically? If New Jersey was going to benefit why was he opposed to it?
They added bike lanes, removed dual lanes, made more streets one way and lowered the speed limit, thus increasing congestion and have the nerve to charge congestion pricing.
Bike lanes, one way streets, these all reduce congestion. If you argue against these things, you’re actually arguing in favour of having more congestion. Weird thing to argue for

The cities need to stop allowing to build housing like crazy and barely building business buildings. We need more places FOR WORK and less houses. There are already plenty of houses and apartments, what we need is to distribute people better, and plenty of highways, public transportation and organization, something that local governments are failing to provide correctly. All they keep doing is adding more toll roads, increasing tolls, adding what should be illegal which is express lanes that are toll on public highways which are already been paid by taxes. And then they also add every possible way to make life for drivers more difficult like not allowing left turns in key places, and then worse, no u turns followed by that intersection to make drivers who didn't know about no left to continue driving on the wrong direction. What the hell is wrong with the government????
People are missing the point. Congestion pricing is not the problem, the MTA over time pay is the problem. There is no accountability to claim extravagant overtime pay.
