It took us 15 years to get a diagnosis for him and it was Lewy Body Dementia with some Parkinson issues. He survived for almost 6 more years. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you his name was Rob and he passed away on 8/7/2022. How can a caregiver get any kind of help when they have no idea what to ask. Lewy Body Dementia with some Parkinson issues thrown in is like constantly walking on eggshells that are on fire 🔥 like hot coals. My Rob was 86 when he died and I turned 75 a month later. Doctors haven’t got a clue what the caregivers are suffering through almost every day 😢! Doctors need to be able to tell the caregivers what’s coming but they don’t know either.

Yes! I don’t think, as a wife caring for her husband with LBD, you CAN be gracious, though you can be very compassionate. The best thing is to stay calm & being patient & loving. Go 1 step at a time & DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

I think the movie you were talking about was called "Still Alice".

joseph gary My mom has LBD too. When my mom is having a bad day, I adjust her reality & mine too. If I don't then her anger comes out & I'm her target. My mom's symptoms get 100 times worse with medications. Normally she realizes her hallucinations aren't real but when she takes medication it becomes very real & she panics. This year I've seen a big decline & it's very hard to watch my mother go through this. I'm so thankful for the info I can gather on the internet like this video.

lisa kay+ oh i so wish you could talk w my sister in law! she will NOT allow her mother's medication to be decreased! my mother in law gets her own medication and takes more as she becomes more distressed and confused! my dear mother in law is terrorized. she then becomes aggressive AFTER medicine losses it's strength! we are conditioned to believe the clinicians knw the answer and sometimes they exacerbate the problem!

Hallucinations, shuffling step, long stare - totally different than Parkinson and Alzheimer’s. My cousin was mis-diagnosed with Parkinson’s - I’m sure because she never told the clinicians about the hallucinations - she is fully convinced that her dead mother was actually standing in her bedroom.
