He says all the right things and gives you great insight. But doesnt change the fact that even if he says they got more athletic this year, they are still running the same offense and get caught when they are cold from three and turn the ball over.
He had great & horrible luck in 2009 (when Hummel got hurt at Minny) and in 2019. I was there in Louisville for both Tennessee and UVA. But for many other seasons he’s underperformed as a coach in March. Dictating the matchup (instead of matching up) and dictating the pace is something he needs help with big time come March. Seems like a great guy so hope he gets it this year. However, there’s been so many times I wish I was on the bench with him to ask him why he has certain lineups in with the way the game is going!
"Turn the ball over and struggle from three..." That is what exactly happened last night against Northwestern. Back to their same MO. However, at the end of the day, I dont care about reg seson wins/losses anymore. We must make a FF run this season.
NW out coached painter 2 years in a row. But truthfully, the crowd was the reason Purdue lost. Purdue did better this year than last, by going to overtime. If this was at a neutral site, Purdue would have won
Based on 4:45, I will be using the next stall over, if I see that old crusty Painter come out after "sitting in it for 6-7 months" after a PU tourney loss. And what exactly is the "crust", once a coach has been in there that long? Never mind, I think I know now... It's the fans' expectations.
He basically just said well I've done so good with my team in the regular season that it's okay if we lose to a mid-major in the first round. It's the tournament's fault for having high expectations on my guys. I'm sorry but that is such a cop out. Take some responsibility. You've lost to a 15 seed and a 16 seed the last two tourneys. That's embarrassing. You've had ONE run to the Elite 8 and you CHOKED away the game. You absolutely should have been in a final four by now. And this IS on him for these teams losing. Getting your team ready to play is YOUR JOB. If it's too hard do something else.
Go Boilers ...take em there this year Matt! 💪
Such a great person and coach!

Painter is a Cubs fan. He knows.

If you scored more points than us you would have won too.

I don't understand what you are saying. Please explain it like I'm 5 😂.
