I, for one, did not miss the story telling. At all. Most of the time it is really fictional. I don't mind a bit of background, i.e. the name of manufaturer, period of manufacture and where the company is located, but not a fictional version of supposed owner and so on. This type of video is the opposite extreme. No elevator music, no description of the work and really loud asmr sounds. When I restore or refinish, I wear ear protection, also for protecting my ears from loud scraping or sanding noise, only to be exposed to it watching a video. I know that some will say:" Turn the volume down." Which is what I did. So back to the silent movie era. My favourite kind of restoration video? No elevator music. Brief description of the origin of the piece. Description of the work being done and why the choice of work/ material. If relevant purchase price and resell value. No amplified asmr. I do understand every content creator has their own style. I followed this channel from the beginning . It used to be my favourite. This type of content is more like it used to be. I have always enjoyed watching the content creator's restoration process and I have learned so much. I still do, but the current format ... not so much.
This might just be my favorite transformation! This piece is now ready for a nursery, a "big kid's room, and even a dorm room or first apartment. This piece is ready to grow with its new owner! Bravo!!!
I liked the white washed wood. It's bright and if that's birch, then I feel it's perfect. What a lovely restoration. It gives this beautiful piece of furniture the dignity it deserves!
Beautiful and perfect for a childs bedroom. The original colours while bright were totally understandable for a childs bedroom and the original child probably loved it just as much as the next child will love this version 😊
That was a perfect choice for white wash on this child’s chifferobe 👍🏼 seeing how easy that paint lifted up was very satisfying lol. Nice save Barry. I hope this makes some child’s room very happy ❤
Oh Barry, Beautiful!! You even did a paint wash! I couldn't believe the build up of paint on there, WOW. Those are the pieces that give painted furniture a bad name, you saved that one!
Beautiful job as ever, Barry. I always miss your voice and storytelling when it's absent. Makes me appreciate you even more! Please keep up the good work, you're a welcome anchor in my life ❤
Congratulations on 100K! If I read the caption correctly it looks like this piece might already might have a home. It looks great with the white wash. Another good project. Thanks for sharing.
O love that you managed to maintain the child-like character of the piece while giving it sophistication it was lacking in its last incarnation. Beautiful work as always! ❤
I didn't think the piece was salvageable when you first showed it. It made me think that this is a craft that teaches patience, reinforces it. You have it in spades, Barry.
And just like that; the ugly duckling turned into a swan again. Very impressive indeed!!! I couldn’t help getting a little nostalgic when I saw the miniature Lane cedar chest. I got one of those when I graduated high school in 1971. It came from a then prominent local furniture store. I actually still have it!!!
Very nice work on that piece. I remember having one like that when I was little in the early 60's. Passed down to my sister, finally it went to some friends who had little ones. I especially like the white wash finish, good choice.
This is beautiful and so true to its 1950s roots! i love that you are using a wee Lane cedar box. I received one from a local furniture company when I graduated from high school in 1970. I still have it.
I know that someone painted over a beautiful dresser, but I also really like that you can see it was well-loved for many generations, adorned with stickers to commemorate seasons and events. It's nice to think about how a piece of furniture has seen a family through the years.
I discovered your youtube channel a few days ago and I love it. I love your feel for the history of a piece and it's clear how much you love wood. I do too. In this really conflicted environment we live in today, I find your videos so peaceful. Thank you for showing us what you love - it gives me joy to watch how careful you are in your restorations and how much you pay attention to detail. It makes such a difference to the end product.
I feel like a chifferobe would be a good fit for a wardrobe minimalist. Like many others, I remember having a piece like this when I was a child - with the decals. Nice work Barry! Thanks for sharing!
I’m from Stevens Point and have been by the Lullaby factory so many times but have never seen a piece from the company. So happy I stumbled across this video. I love your work!
Great job Barry. This Chifforobe turned out so beautiful. Thankfully it was pretty easy to strip the paint off. lol Any child would be proud to use this. I have often wondered if putting a blackboard paint on a piece if that would offer the person (child) to be able to express themselves without ruining the original finish. Have a great day
It's wonderful, Barry! We are of similar mind for finishes for children. I restored a dresser for my young granddaughter. Although the wood was beautiful, I did a white color wash as well and it's perfect in her room. I forget sometimes that it's not always about my vision. I enjoyed this one. Well done! 🎉 13:46
Very nice! I was skeptical of the whitewash at first, but it turned out really beautiful. I really appreciate that you put wood glue in a syringe and get it deep into the lifted and broken spaces. Most other restorers just put it on the knife and try to wedge it it in, but I feel the syringe does a better job.
I really really like the paint wash. Considering something similar for an oak occasional table I have. Good to see what it looks like. As usual you did a fantastic job.

Lovely restoration! I missed your 'story telling' - but understood that sometimes the work speaks for itself. A lucky child to receive this piece!
I was thinking the same thing.
I'll try to tell more stories in future videos!

I'm not a fan of the whitewash, but the piece looks SO much better. Great job!
Thank you!
This wardrobe may have originally been intended for a child's room, but I could see lots of uses for this. Beautiful restoration as usual.
Love this

I love that you saved those stickers! Made me chuckle.

Thank you. I enjoyed doing something different
Getting rid of all that nasty paint, I breathed a sigh of relief. Outstanding results....as usual.

Such loving restoration,a pleasure to watch your work.
Many thanks!
I remember seeing that Lullaby label on a piece of furniture when I was a kid. I’m trying to remember what it was.
Love this
I'm so engrossed by the gelatinous gunk that comes off...lol. It's stunning now!
Me too
O love that you managed to maintain the child-like character of the piece while giving it sophistication it was lacking in its last incarnation. Beautiful work as always! ❤
I love it!!
That child is blessed!!
Thank you
Definite improvement. Love the whitewashed finish. 1950s dresser but the paint job made me think 60s. Turned into a beautiful piece.
Thank you!
It turned out beautiful., love the whitewash!!! That was so much paint that you removed!! ❤
Thank you
Beautiful! The whitewash is so versatile.
Thank you

@@MadCityModern your work is beautiful
It's so nice. I love white washed wood. So pretty.
Barry, you knocked it out of the ballpark on this one! I'm not a fan of paint wash, but you won me over on this piece.
Thank you
The white wash was perfect for this piece. Loved it.
Thank you
As always, you have impeccable taste. I appreciate you so much. Thanks for sharing your kind soul with us all.
That cabinet turned out awesome!!! I especially like the drawers behind a door on one side, and space to hang items on the other.
I’m glad you noticed!
It's beautiful. The new hinges look so much better. It could fit in any room now Barry. Well done.
Thank you so much
A sad item with a well used ‘colourful’ past now fit for any room you choose. Love the natural look of the wood.
Thank you! 😊

i would like to think that it was passed down from kid to kid. it would kind of explain the weird colors on it and the replaced hardware on it

I did this type of finish using pink paint. The wood grain showed through. It's super pretty.
Love that color idea
Definitely colorful 😊

Phenomenal!! Such a beautiful restoration. What an amazing piece it will make for some family.
Thank you
I'm so fascinated by the reconstruction of damaged furniture. Each repair is individually repaired to mirror the original. You have great skills.
