Then in 2008 a French wine producer, Laurent Ponsot, realised that wine from his family’s domain was being sold from a year they hadn’t produced it. That day, he says, he took the first plane to New York, and thus begun his crusade. For anyone who wants to know, no you don't need to love or like or even drink wine to love this documentary. I was completely blown away by the story, how they got video of the asian guy, access to people like Bill Koch... and also how well it was directed and produced. This is a 10/10 film no doubt.
so true robert. i don't like the taste of alcohol, but the documentary was amazing! i fell asleep and woke up to this documentary playing and couldn't stop watching for some reason.
Well the doc isn't about wine flavor or anything, more about a fraud in the wine world.
I know nothing about wine and hate it (it ALL tastes like vinegar to me), but I definitely enjoyed this.

Best documentary I've seen in a century. And no, you don't even have to like wine. It's enough knowing the World is rolling these extremely rich and decadent "connoisseurs", watching them get conned in their own manege, and its a "yes!"

Not only a hell of a (true!) story, the directing, timing and use of music are a true work of genius in this movie. A must watch.

Fascinating and very enjoyable documentary!
I do feel for the wine producers, for them it's a matter of principle, it's their name, their livelihood, their passion and reputation that is being counterfeit... but I find it hard to feel sorry for those duped. If you have that much more money than sense, and you're ready to spend this sort of money on a product to put it on a shelf, _without being able to try_ it first, then you fully deserve this.
They really don't care that much, the probably used their 'fuck you money' for those bottles.
I'm Indonesian and I would apologise to the French wineries too, I actually felt bad for them. But I don't feel bad for the rich people who got duped either lololol-not all heroes wear capes, some drink grapes~ 🍇🍷

What I don't understand is why didn't these collectors do research prior to buying. Like when they were saying the manufacturer didn't make this wine til then blah blah, that seems like basic research to double check the history of the wine.
