Catalinbread sent me a type of reverb I've never actually spent any real time with, a Gated reverb?
WHAT THE HECK DO YOU DO WITH A GATED REVERB??? Well I found out that its a ton of fun before the Dirty Little Secret Deluxe so there's that.

The gates on these modern gated reverb effects sound like they are gently rolling off the signal rather than gating it. To me it doesn’t sound much different than just setting the decay short on a regular reverb pedal.
Nice shoe-verb, it gazes very well.
I had cc turned on and towards the end of the video it kept mistaking the reverb for applause and that was pretty hilarious. Excellent video as always! Thanks for what you do
Catalinbread always makes really cool stuff but it’s always so expensive!

Gated reverb is a cool effect! I have the Rainger FX Reverb-X which does a similar thing, but with distortion built in. And the demos I've heard of the Mr. Black Heaven's Gate make it seem similar as well. Enjoyable demo, as always.
The Heaven's Gate was the first in this gated verb revival that seems to be happening.I use the EQD Ledges.

Nice reverb. One thing...I wish it had an EQ knob.It's a little cloudy and dark for certain things. But the overall reverb quality is great.Unique.
That is what EQ pedal are for.
I suspect a good buffer and boost like the truetone clean boost in the input would make it sparkle.

agreed, it sounds almost perfect but is a bit bass heavy on the bigger sounds
I suppose this is a rig dependent pedal and maybe it's not the pedal's fault that you find it lacking...

Mr Black has the Heavens Gate Gated Reverb. And the Rainger Reverb X has a gate on it. But not so sure it’s really a traditional/Yamaha style gated reverb.
I heard a mini-demo of a Catalinbread reverb pedal (not sure if it was this one, specifically) and also remembered thinking how dandy it would be for Shoegaze .. But hearing all the subtle cool things you can do with it makes me want it all the more .. Gotta make some more money so they can TAKE MY MONEY ..!!

Another interesting way to “break” the usual pedal order, stereo delay/reverb into stereo chorus.
Boss RV 5. All the performance. Half the price.
I don't like the way the Boss handle being driven.They do sound great in conventional pedal order.
I'm sure if people waited a few months, the used prices will come down.There's only a few builders and cases where they don't.
The Gate is very nice, but that is not so difficult build with a separate gate box, (OK perhaps fiddling for all this function), but the Lag! That would be every difficult to get any other way I can think of. So this is more of Lag-Verb with a gate. But all in one box is even better. This is going onto my list.
Put a reverb in the loop of a Boss NS2 and then feed the output into a distortion. That would be bonkers. I might try it.

The Lag knob is the pre-delay control. The Pre is preamp.

Verb length.
It’s from a old 80’s studio trick/mishap. They accidentally left on a talkback mic over a drum set. The talkback mic was heavily compressed and gated (to hear people talking over the drum set). The result was an explosive, heavily compressed, heavily gated room reverb sound. It became a drum cliche in the 80’s.

for sure e beautiful sound. but unfortunately is not the same as a reverb after distortion.

Nope. It’s a pre amp control.
I have the soft focus and you can hear the gated / reverse part of it. I wonder if this can really do MBV like gated. It seems like it could.
I have a digiverb (which I love) and the gated setting does the glide quitar thing differently to the reverse setting but both work really well, if that makes sense
Rainger's Reverb X does all of this way waaaaay better. It's still a cool pedal, but it's a no-brainer if you compare features and price point.
Please review some yuer brand affordable pedals.. Planning to buy those for their friendly price but don't have idea if they sound worthy.. Notice me senpai ryan!
looks like they are relabeled Kmise pedals, Search for my kmise demos and you will get a sense for what they sound like.
y'know it doesn't really do it for me, maybe its too muddy for my tastes...but its still interesting.

im leaving the neck pickup as is. and yeah, i never used the tone knob before the mod so i dont miss it at all.
I think there's solid logic in just changing one of the trad JM pickups.Depending on your chosen sound, it could be either.I like the distinctive bridge sound, but might put one of the new Wide Range Cunife for JM in the neck; see if I can get the standard rhythm circuit to do something I'd use.
If you wanna gate my reverb just go ahead now!
If this came out 15 years ago it would probably have a small cult following. But now? Theres so many other great reverbs on the market

Not for me … just disappears in all the mess. CB stopped making innovative pedals when they fired their OG team.
Catalinbread bum me out. They keep coming up with awesome pedals from an idea standpoint but the execution is routinely off. Apart from the Naga Viper I still own, the few others I have tried always have an issue that makes me say no. Usually a noise issue. I would have more of their pedals if their great ideas were executed better.
It's neat but out of my wheelhouse.
I really need to stop watching your pedal demos. They are entertaining, but very expensive.
