- It's back! A fan favourite (?) series returns with a frankly stunning episode.
Thanks to everyone who supports these horseapples on Patreon over at:

In my childhood I was fortunate enough to get three packs of Modulok and one pack of Multi-bot and I remember I made a creature up of so many torsos, heads and limbs that it probably would have given The Thing nightmares so bad it would have wished it had stayed buried beneath the ice.
Yeah
This character and its gimmick present a STRONG “The Thing” vibe
Goofy and terrifying design
I only had one of each as a kid, but when Classics came around, I made sure I had enough of each to create a full-on toy Modulok, a cartoon Modulok, a toy Multi-Bot -- cartoon Multi-Bot did NOT work out -- and a MegaBeast.
I didn’t expect my Repugnus tribute to be featured at the end of this episode! That was such a pleasant surprise!
That Marvel galvatron head is killer. Oh and Modulok is cool too
Mary Shelly has been awfully quiet since this video dropped.
Can you imagine a live-action Modulok? Ripping off and reattaching parts and growing new ones, screaming in horror every single time. Fabulous stuff.
I didn’t know until this moment that this was something that we need.
Back when ItsAllTrue had a forum, us MOTU fans would discuss live-action movie potential.
If I recall, it was DayRaven who came up with the idea of Modulok toiling in his lab, while various severed limbs continued stirring chemicals or pushing carts around, while he distractedly made notes about unexpected side-effects and the like.
I had the idea that his limb-growth started as a tissue-cloning side-project that then began to get out of control, and the bigger he grew, the more body parts he grew, the more it hurt, dulling his intellect and turning him into a screaming, roaring, rampaging monster. He starts absorbing things, Tetsuo-style, filling the corridors of the Fright Zone like rapidly expanding foam laced with blood vessels and teeth and claws, thrashing and clawing and biting and roaring and screaming all the while, forcing even other Horde members to flee in terror. How could he possibly be stopped . . . ?!
@ oh god that last part gives the Slime Pit a whole new, terrifying body horror element
That custom Galvatron head was incredible and also, thank you David.
Never been a fan of MOTU, enjoyed the live action film when I was young but just never dug He-Man... look I'm sorry. However I clearly see the appeal of Modulok and understand why it's a great thing to recapture.
Was cute seeing the live-action movie footage in the background of this video.
Special thanks for name dropping mecha neck, had his toy from the 2000s reboot but couldn't remember what he was from, u solved a personal mystery 👍
3:36 - poppin' off body parts whilst referencing Big Poppa Pump is why this is the best show on TH-cam 😂
Happy to see the Ninja Turtle weapon making a return to TRDQ
Just yesterday, I was in a Smyths in Germany and was astounded to see these huge Modulok packages... Like 20 or so. The entire store was practically a modulok hive.
Saw, shrugged, turned around and looked for something else.
Had him as a kid and liked him as well btw!
I've missed seeing you use this system of reviewing things. It's so handy and thorough I use it in my own life to judge things; action figures, what to eat and even human beings
from not knowing a toy exists to needing it
Fuuuuuuuuck, that looks awesome! I wanted a Modulok so badly as a kid, and I didn't give a crap about MotU. The gimmick was catnip to the young Lampy!
ULTRAKILL MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Yesss more TRDQ MOTU content! Not that I have any frame of reference to MOTU lol...
I DO love Mantenna though.
@@JUNKMECH he's such a good toy and loads of fun! Easy and cheap to get at the moment thankfully!
My hope fades for an Origins Battle Bones, but I dare to dream
RIP John Erwin, voice of He-Man.
I had not realised he passed away so recently. That's very sad to hear.
Another legend of our childhood gone . . . .
Dude reminds me of The Thing (the Jon Carpenter monster, not the Marvel rock guy). Cool gimmick. I was never into collecting MOTU, but had friends who were. Takes me back to winter weekends laying siege to Castle Grayskull at a friend’s home…
It was kinda cool having friends who specialized in different collections.
That thing is terrifying! Stuff of nightmares!
Oh, hey, Donnie's weapon is back!
Fun video! Thank you!
Yeah, I was thinking of picking up a few Origins pieces for the characters that never made it into Classics, but as you rightly point out, they were almost all sold as online exclusives that sell out to filthy scalpers and their 'bots within minutes, so bugger that.
One thing that baffled me about this Origins Modulok, though, was the use of the "Skeletor" feet, when the "Whiplash" feet would've matched the original figure's legs perfectly.
Hope you'll have a good day
So this is where Bionicle started. 😆
Oooo that Galvatron is beautiful. I love me some e Marvel Galvy (best Galvy)
The paint on your vintage modulok looks realy good, did you restore the paint job?
The origins lacks an extra Y-connector, on the vintage one you can give him a third head, the tentacle with the green bit, you can't an a single origins modulok.
Perhaps i'll pick up a second origins modulock from retail, they warm shelves here at smythtoys.
Thanks for the review!
Peace!
Mantenna could be.... the fly?
I see him as The Fly and Modulok is The Thing!
All three terrified me as a kid and, as an adult? All three are three of my favourite anythings ❤
Yes!
I saw Mantenna more as The Bug Eyed Alien type. Mosquitor was more of The Fly.
I would have said Horde members were like uber-versions of the standard baddies. Hordak is Skeletor with face flesh, Grizzlor is Beast Man with _real_ fake fur, Leech is Merman but more murky, Mantena is... is... okay this does not work either. Maybe they were being somewhat creative with some of their thinking.
I always figured it was Universal Monsters tributes:
Vampire
Were-Beast
Lagoon Creature
Bug-Eyed Alien
Frankenstein + Monster
Then you get into later Horde members you get other horror / sci-fi tropes, including:
Unfeeling Robot War Machine
Super-Adaptive War Robot
Crazed Cyborg
Giant Mutant Bug
And they kept adding to it over the years, with Wrap Trap as the Mummy, Callix as the Golem, etc.
It sounds like the successor to MattyCollector is… well, doing just like MattyCollector did.
("You want this Ghostbusters figure? Too bad, you tried to load the website when our rodent-powered server couldn't handle multiple connections and then it sold out. Hope you only wanted three of the four Busters.")
No, this is modern set-up is way, WAY worse than MattyCollector, mate.
With MattyCollector, you could subscribe to get all or most of the releases with no hassle. Heck, even their SDCC exclusives were easy to get hold of (provided you didn't collect Monster High). All you had to do was wait until SDCC was over, then saunter over to the site and leisurely add a couple pieces to your cart, no problem. Even with the "sub-only" figures, you could either get them for a small mark-up on BBTS or wait for the end-of-year sales.
But now? Hells, I don't even try.
i feel like they really missed an opportunity not making the new one with the glyos system, that wouldve been super cool
I have heard horror stories of Mattel's handling of collector-oriented Hot Wheels online exclusives, so the Modulok release sounds entirely on-brand. The part-separator shield is very oddly considerate.
@1:36 Nemesis the Warlock, is that you??
More MOTU!🎉
RIP to John Erwin. Thank you for our childhood 😞
4.03 The _noise I made._
I feel that first minute of irritation regarding the distribution of MOTU Origins toys here in the UK. I can get by with most of them being available at Smyth's Toys, but even then it's only a small selection of them. And the main Mattel website doesn't seem to have them on stock there, either. Can't scour eBay without asking someone with an account to get me something, and I'm now trying to double down on avoiding Amazon after their myriads of problems shown off in the past year, but unfortunately that's the best place to get all the MOTU toys here.
Streuth! I can't believe Classic Modulok did not achieve victory!
Now hang on a tick: the Horde robot soldier guys, I only ever associated them with She-Ra, where Hordak was the primary villain, and I never saw them in the action figure form that I wanted as a kid. And here you are, showing me that I was living under a musty, moss-covered rock for roughly forty years, and I was mistaken?
Now I get it. I know now why you[r fans] cry [so goddamned much that it’s embarrassing], but it’s something I could never do. Not until now anyway.
On the subject of Modulok, however, are you familiar with the toy line from Ertl, called Socket Poppers? Very similar concept, and introduced a few years after Masters of the Universe faded from popularity, but they required multiple figures to have the versatility of the OG ‘Lok.
The original Horde Trooper figure came out in 1986. I had two. Used to love firing the Battle Ram missiles at them from across the room, then watching them pop open and collapse when I hit them.
@@Beedo_Sookcool well h*ck and buttz, just how sheltered was I? How much more in my life has been a lie, even by omission?
…don’t answer that, it’s purely rhetorical
"war without reason"
i'm surprised none of the comments here before me are about ultrakill lol
Like Mantennas to Heaven
Is the title an Ultrakill reference?
Nope!
What the hell is going on with toy distribution nowdays?
