I can't understand why people refuse to listen any of Steve's songs. Fish is great and I know they are two completely different singers, but my god H has done some wonderful tracks on all the album's he's appeared on. I'm so lucky I love both eras of Marillion and both eras of Genesis too. I agree with this list.
I think there are some people who loved the Fish era stuff who were never going to accept a new singer. And they felt their scepticism was justified when they listened to the more 'pop' oriented sounds of 'Cover my eyes' 'Dry Land' 'No One Can' etc so didn't bother delving into the rest of the catalogue. As a result, they miss out of the genius of 'Ocean Cloud' 'This Strange Engine' 'Neverland' and almost all of the 14 (+2) post Fish era albums. As you say, two completely different (and utterly wonderful) singers, and both era's have produced absolutely magical music. I don't bother trying to compare singers or even music. Just brilliant from Script to AHBID.
I love Fish era but I consider Steve H's voice more powerfull. I love both eras in Genesis and Marillion. Each of the 4 frontmen are great singers, with immense voice.
I'm a fish fan converted to hogarth. I never abbandoned them until marbles. After a 10 yr hiatus and hearing this train is my life was totally blown away and started completing their catalogue....!!!!! And am totally into the hogarth world. Lucky to apreciate and have all the fish and hogarth albums.
For me Neverland is amazing. And I just discover the album with ISILDURS BANE :"colours not found in nature". It's a big steve H. you can see the concert on you tube .
His studio performance - and live ones too - in Invisible Man - specifically the final part of the song - is probably the best thing ever done in the history of ever, in my opinion.
My list: 10: Cathedral Wall 9: Quartz 8: Out Of This World 7: Ocean Cloud 6: Berlin 5: Splintering Heart 4: Goodbye To All That 3: This Strange Engine 2: The Great Escape 1: The Space... Bonus track: The Invisible Man Great video anyway!😉
'Dry Land'- great choice (easily 1 of his best, but you should have included, at least, the bridge, which is very difficult to belt-out). 'After me' - :) 'Berlin' - great choice again, 1 of my fav's and probably the 3rd or 4th Marillion song I ever heard - and was wowed of course) but I would have included a tiny bit of the first 'bridge' (or 'pre-chorus') (?) part of, "Nobody knows what made him decide To run for freedom and to certain suicide When they turn off the guns and his fingers uncurl He's clutching a photograph of a Berlin party girl". (I know, hind-sight is 20/20). :) ...all the other choices I agree with 100%. :) If I think of any to include, I will add them here later. Thanks for posting.
@Spydrfish Out of This World is great too! It probably could kick No One Can off the list and could make the upper half of the list. But yeah Brave and This Strange Engine are awesome, but The Space... is amazing, especially the end.
My favorite band ever, excellent ranking, I would make just one change Neverland instead of Beautiful , but it’s just one opinion Best regards from Buenos Aires
I thought about making a video like this a while ago... I would have done the end of Out of this world somewhere in there, but this is the opinion of a whole Forum. Can definitely Agree on the section of Brave, always gave me chills, same for This Strange engine.
He Is a wonderful and a beautiful artist. He sings with His heart. I admire him a lot
I absolutely adore this man and his voice!!

If it wasn’t for H taking over as front man Marillion would have come to an end many years ago
Oh, how l love him!!!wonderful voice and wonderful lyrics!!

Legend! My absolute hero!
He's quite simply a wonderful Vocalist,Lyricist and performer
Got to be in top 10 of British singers of all time.
Can play piano and guitar pretty well, too!
The best front man of any band out there..put’s literally everything into every performance.
He and Jon Anderson, two of the most iconic Symphonic/Progressive rock singers of all times.
Also Francesco Di Giacomo (Banco del Mutuo Soccorso)
I can't tell you how much I love H!
Steve Hogarth da brividi....immenso fantastico unico.....
