Hey CRH, those Opulence coins are something else, when I got the email from the RCM I thought boy do you have the wrong person. I did order a Flowing Haired coin from the US Mint before they sold out, did not get a Privy coin but it is a beautiful coin nonetheless and an awesome addition to the Collection/Stack. Awesome overview, thanks for posting.
I thought the exact same thing! I'm not exactly their intended audience! I sort of do wish I'd gotten one of those medals, though. They really are beautiful!
I'm surprised you didn't mention the information for those of us looking to place a bid on that 10 Kilo Gold coin. The coin will be auctioned on November 20th, 2024 at the Heffel Fine Art Auction House. You must register with Heffel prior to the start of the auction. Also, I'm not aware of the mint doing random privy mark coins like the US just did with the flowing hair medallion, however they will do pre-releases where you can get First Strike certified coins or they will send a few to grading companies and you can buy signed first strike versions from time to time. Thanks for the video, loved your take on the opulence collection :)
I'll admit, I didn't look to far into the specifics of the bidding process. I wasn't exactly sure any of my viewers would be in the running!! I'll be interested to see what it goes for!
This just seems like another medium for criminals to launder their money. Criminals buy these expensive items and to later sell at an auction to an anonymous buyer that is appointed by them through a shell company, thus successfully laundering their funds.
Just how many of these do you have in your collection? I mean, when's the last time you did a thorough inventory. You might have a douple of these kicking around! lol!!
Whenever i hear "operators standing by" i always imagine them hovering over the phone like they are about to draw a pistol in a duel. So at these prices, its funny to think that someone is standing by for a phone call.
That is a real nice coin but if you bought it, and the novelty finally wears off, how long would it take you to dump it and how many buyers would be interested? Id rather have an 1858 dime or quarter in MS 67!
Opulence is the correct word for those. Just for that 100 Grand gold piece, I would rather get every single note minus the Grand Watermelon from my wishlist of currency that I would want to purchase, and still have at least $35,000 remaining.
The Year Sets are about the only way you can get the coins which are not released for circulation. As far as the Opulence Collection, I would never spend money on any of those. I would much rather my $100,000 and complete my Morgan dollar collection, including the 1895-P.
its a very fine coin indeed....however, 100K is waayyyy to much for me lol regardless if i had unlimited money, id rather spend that 100K on a home or land
Such absurdity. What, 1% of the 1% MAY be interested. Us average collectors would rather add beautiful classic vintage coins that have a proven track record. I’d rather buy a fn 1914-D Lincoln cent. Or beautiful Canadian Large cents than this manufactured scarcity. Rubbish!!
Well, there must be people out there who will buy them, so I guess they're just trying to squeeze out as much as they can from the far corners of the market!

It could well be. I wonder if auction houses have rules similar to banks to make it difficult to launder money.
From the diamond monoploy, yeah theyll be good, cuz no one else can grt their hands on them...
Id buy circulating silver (both continental and international), I feel they have a great story to tell!
Same here!
I was thinking of getting one of these 10kg gold coins for the front foyer
lol! Don't bother buying it. If someone else bought it and dropped it, you might find it metal detecting!!!
Crazy is not the word, James! But I bet you could hide it in plain sight. No one would ever guess it was real.

True enough!!
i am both rollhunting and a stacker
Thanks so much for watching! Good luck in your hunts!

My thoughts exactly!
It kinda takes the fun out of collecting when it all starts to get high end like that
I'd agree. You'll never find one of these coin roll hunting, that's for sure!

I'd even be happier to complete a full set of circulating Canadian and American coins in a VG!! Besides, that coin doesn't go well with my decor... ;)
This better not end like with that 100kg Canadian maple leaf in Germany...
No kidding! I should have mentioned that. I still don't think they've recovered that. I'm sure it was all melted down long ago...
Im all for gold coins, but i draw the line at 1 ounce
Even 1 oz is out of reach for lots of collectors. I have no gold in my collection! Some day... ;)
@@CADRollHunter I don't have em either but I feel it's attainable but anything over that is just pompous. My opinion.

That makes so much more sense! You can't do much with a 10kg gold coin except look at it (and worry all the time that someone's going to steal it!!).
No way. These are in no way collectable you can ultra low mintages but it means nothing if it doesn't complete some collection or other.
Agreed. But part of me wonders what a coin album for the super rich might look like! ;)
@CADRollHunter one would definitely find a legally or illegally obtained 1933 $20 Double Eagle in one slot of that binder.
@@collectingonthecheap56353 And probably a 1974 aluminum cent, as well!!
Yeah they're nice coins but too rich for me 👍👍🙂🇨🇦💰
I'll be saving up for a while, that's for sure!! Thanks for watching!
