Paying mehr is a negotiation if the girl asks for a certain amount of money it doesn’t matter how much and the guy is willing to pay that then alhamdullilah may allah swt bless their marriage. Don’t make it seem like a girl asking for high mehr is haram or a bad thing you guys might not be able to pay that but there are men who will happily pay that amount👍🏽

The best mehr, is the lowest mehr. These girls with 100k mehr don't even practice half their Deen, they just want the money, it's not rocket science.

Parents refuse marriages for their own selfish reasons. They just don't want to help the young couple financially to get married. Which is very sad because it's not difficult to allow them to live with you for a year or two!

Something that's rlly toxic i our culture is that the elder siblings should get married first and without that the younger can't marry. My dad was 21 and my mom was 18 when when they got engaged but the parents delayed the marriage so much that when they got married my dad was 30 and my mom was 27 and they had gone thru a tough time

SubhanAllah.I keep being told I need to finish my degree and then find a good-paying job then think about marriage. It doesn't make sense to me. I've been living on my own for the past few years, Nothing is paid for me and I pay for everything, do my own laundry, clean my apartment etc. MashaAllah I work and earn a living with a flexible job and plan to finish school with no debt and Allah is the greatest planner. There shouldn't be so many roadblocks for me to get married but All I get is zero support from my family. I think I will keep on trying to find a wife if it's written for me it will happen insha'Allah and WAllahu A3lm. Jazakum Allah Khair. Im learning and binging through all the episodes right now.

I'm 28yr old sister, I completed my higher education, been in a career for 3 years, I'm modest and strive in my deen, I don't leave the house much or socialize with men. I live in MN and lots of Somali sisters my age are struggling to find good men, we come from single mother households. So our mothers might not have a large options to help us, I feel like the only option left is going to the masjid but there are lots of women already on waiting lists for marriage with no prospects. It feel lonely and many sisters feel hopeless as we want children and have never been in relationships. I have also opened my options to practicing reverts, because looking in our community has gotten me no where except childish men who do not want to address their trauma.I put my trust in Allah and go through my emotions as they come.

That’s the issue many sisters face after finishing higher education without family focussing on helping the sister get married. All this education won’t matter when you have kid after kid and you won’t be working. Brothers aged 28-32 will be looking to marry 20-24 yr olds not similar aged women whose eggs 90% have gone. Not blaming anyone but this is an ongoing issue which families should be tackling.

Ma sha allah, you guys touched on great points. I gotta say money is the #1 reason a lot of people don’t get married. In the U.S. if your willing to get married you need approximately $80k- $100k if not more. It’s sad that the haram is so easy to do and the halal became an obstacle. Marriage is a business deal nowadays.

Generally, for marriage, one needs the minimum cost of living as income.
Don't bring exceptions or anecdotes of "I know so and so who did it" or "I did it"
    I am speaking in general.
Generally, girls' parents refuse to look nor consider you if you don't have ALL of the following afforded.
    No debt
    Substantial mahr.
    rent for 1-bedroom.
Bills: phone(s), electricity, heat, water, internet
Transportation: Car (can be used), also includes vehicle insurance, gas
Food: enough to feed 2 people per month
