Before I even watch this video I have to say this show was absolutely bonkers amazing in my opinion, from beginning to end, I am still reeling! I have so many questions still and I'm hoping for insight on channels like this and new rockstars and what not to fill in any gaps I may have missed. But what I really want to say right now is how much this series has reminded me of a lot of the stuff I love about the high Republic novels, which I know are set way before this, but there are a lot of parallels and I absolutely love it
Glad you enjoyed it, Coy. I need a season 2 and/or some kind of other continuation for these kids announced, like, stat. I want these kid actors to get to stay and work in Star Wars, not re-cast with older actors or whatever. These kids have more than earned it.
I love this guy! Got yourself a subscription from me! Way to address the negativity and still show the silver lining! I respect the way you verbalized your opinion!! 💪🏽💯🙏🏽
Big fan of the show. My 12-year-old son and I loved it, and we're both hoping for a season 2. Just the type of show Disney+ should focus on: whimsy, practicals, puppets, stop-motion, adventure, and not connected to classic characters. There's a big galaxy out there to explore.
Funny you mention the story book ending, Coy. The end credits is like flipping pages of a book. And at the end when holo-book turns off, that is like the book closing at the end of a fairy tale story. Which leads me to believe this will be a one-and-done season. This story has come to an end.
The finale was amazing. I literally pointed at the screen and was like B- Wings! So cool to now just show the X-Wings. My kids and I really enjoyed the show and we hope there will be more seasons.
Comfort food is not a surprise. You know what to expect. The appeal is how well it is executed. They nailed the execution of this so well. 👏👏👏 Yes, this was a huge nostalgia play to ET, THE GOONIES, THE EXPLORERS, FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR, etc, yet it was a solid story set in the Star Wars universe AND ... whole familiar also successfully added new elements, new droids, new vehicles, planetary camouflage, and new aliens (I ❤️ the owl alien!). 👏. 👏. 👏. (Slow clap) Bravo!
I really enjoyed the series overall! It was really fun to look forward to each week's episode while watching so many reactions and discussing theories. It's been a long time since I've been giddy about a Star Wars show - but it was just good fun that could be enjoyed as a standalone show. I'm actually going to miss the weekly life streams & hype! While I felt like the finale ended rather abruptly, it was really good story telling overall.
Btw, it doesn't quite hold up with KB, but did you notice the alliteration of the kids and their parents' names? Wim & Wendle, Fern and Fara, Neel & Nooma... KB and, well, Maree and Garree. Ooh, almost. But, the other three would make Stan Lee proud with alliterative names!
Simply very well executed Star Wars. All I’ve ever really wanted from this show. Very strong ending. Those kids can act, and have great futures ahead of them regardless of renewal.
I think the season ended way better than I thought it would. This was the best episode of the season for me, tying everything together. Great season! I watched it with my 10 year old daughter who was also digging it. Great bonding experience and her first real exposure to Star Wars.
A 2nd season of Skeleton Crew would be great! There is so much they could explore and expand on in this area of Star Wars. I want to know what ended up happening to Jod, how the planet is operating after the barrier coming down...Come on season 2 announcement 🤞
I was worried someone was going to actually die. They did a good job with the mortality and making it feel like there were real stakes. I was almost surprised Jod didn't kill anyone
Really enjoyed the series as a whole. The last episode was good, but felt rushed. I wanted more. Why a big giant robot? Who set it up? I have too many questions! I wanted at least some answered, since there might not be a second season. Oh well. I enjoyed it. Worth rewatching 🤘
I hope this show creates a new generation of fans Parents who watch with thier children and teach them how great Star Wars can be with a show like this This show made me feel like 12 again when i saw the first StarWars movie ( yes i am almost 60 ) I hope for a season 2 The young actors were great And Jude Law was fantastic hope to see him in other Star Wars lore i dont think this was as great as Andor or Mandalorian 1& 2 but its better than the other Star Wars live action shows And for those who have complains about it i wanna say : Just enjoy it Greatings from THe Neherlands
Just watched episode 8. Other than Rogue One and Andor, Skeleton Crew is the first D+ SW show that actually felt like the Star Wars from the 70s and 80s. Yes it was corny, goofy and made for kids but I loved it. Everything D+ has made for SW has been complete trash but this was fun. Truly a homage to the great classics like Goonies and Treasure Planet. I hope they don't do a season 2, there is no need for it. This was a complete and satisfying story.
I really enjoyed the show. And I realized you were completely right when it comes to the ending. We’re so used to seeing the aftermath of whatever big thing happens. It was kind of jarring that it just ended. I was expecting to see Jude Law fly off on a stolen ship and something with the kids. But it is very 80s to just be like “Nope. Story’s over.” And cut to black.
The whole tv setup with the title Skeleton Crew feels like someone was watching it as a way to setup the next star wars story which is The Mandalorian and Grogu. Maybe Rotta the Hutt was watching The Skeleton Crew story the whole time. It felt also very much like Empire of the Sun of Star Wars. Wim knows what he wants to be when he grows up and that's a republic X-Wing pilot.
Really enjoyed the show. I feel like Disney Star Wars really succeed when they stay away from the Jedi lore or the Skywalker just like how I enjoyed Andor, Rogue One and The Mandalorian Season 1 & 2 and I will happily include Skeleton Crew in that category. Hoping for Season 2
Nice thematic connection to The Last Jedi (which I too loved, no shame here). I was expecting (or even hoping?) there'd be a big long monologue or flashback for Jod, but just that one little bit about the Jedi who help him was both enough to fill in a lot of blanks, but also all he'd realistically share in that moment. (Jod's not much of a monologuer, unless he's doing it to save his hide).
Glad there wasn't. Some people claimed there was a female character going to show up sharing his name. I wonder if they were making that up, or there was a deleted scene like Grogu seeing Jedi defend him?
Goddam...When I heard 'X-Foils in attack position!' I swear it was a Mark Hamill voice over! looked at the credits, no, hero pilot of episode 8 is X-wing Commander Kent played by Andy Powers BRAVO :)
I ended up really enjoying the show. It is clearly made for kids, and you have to say ‘don’t think about it too much’ for some of the character choices and the coincidences that happen. It’s a fun show for younger audiences that adults can enjoy too. It’s easily the third best SW show behind Mando and Andor.
I LOVED this show, except for how they ended it. Feels like they forget to air the last 10 minutes. Did they restore everything after?were the x and b wing pilots sworn to secrecy over atattins coordinates? did they go back to the live they had before? are they communicating with the Galaxy, or did they go back to the way they handled things before? If Ted Rennod was killed on impact, why did sm33 accept Ferns story, that SHE killed the captain?
@@SeanmanBand The Show was planend to be a 1 Season only. They don‘t even know IF there will be a 2nd Season, because viewer- Numbers are so low. This was a planned ending.
@@SeanmanBand Lmao nope. They ended it very poorly. Such a shame, cause the series was good.... but that ending 🤮 very little made sense and was very surface level writing. All of a sudden, things happened without any explanation and people making decisions that they wouldn't have made normally but HAD TO because its the end.... they didnt land the ending at all. Im sure it worked for children, which I think is ok. For anyone else, Meh 🤷♂
@ Even so. Nothing more needed to be explained or show than what was. What did you need to see exactly? An epilogue where they're all living their lives again but no longer under the Supervisor? Or that Jodd stowed away on a new republic ship or something? You can use your imagination for those things. All storylines were tied up...
@@SeanmanBand "All storylines were tied up..." Hardly. Who's Tak Rennod? Other then an infamous pirate. Why did he have a lightsaber? What race is he? We know as much of him then One Eyed Willy... But at least with one eyed willy, he wasnt used as a carrot/mystery to dangle in front of us. The storyline of the Supervisor and Jod's background story were both uninspired at best. Saying they were "tied up" is just as much uninspired. Look, I really liked the series... but that finally suffered from basic writing. The way Jod lighted his lightsaber at the end of the last episode to just to be ignored by the reaction of the parents at the start of this episode was horrible. With Jod just depowering the lightsaber right after to make sure we know he ignited the dang thing for NOTHING. lol the father running after the children to find a dude with his hoverbike just THERE waiting for him to take it... cmon, basic level writing. Great series, bad ending. 🤷♂
Btw, I had that same feeling about wanting to share this with your own kids, but as you said, I don't have any either so. I'll just have to be satisfied on my own. Also, I am right with you that I wante d Jod to stay a villain as well /and/ it looks like he's alive to maybe come back in a later season or in another show. We know Jod's a slippery sort.
I agree. I’m a fan of the acolyte but I’ve just felt like I was forcing myself to watch what is ultimately a harmless family star wars show because everything just feels heavy around Star Wars now..
If we dont get a season 2 Disney better have Wim as an X-Wing pilot in future movies or shows. I really want to see him and how the kids grow into adults and where they go
I have no dislike of the character but stories about how child characters grow up just are not Star Wars stories in and of themselves. We've got loads of stories about children / young people growing up and learning lessons but those characters are always in peril or have some fight they are forced to participate in one way or another. Here once the children got home there isn't a logical reason they'd be going back on life threatening adventures as children given their loving families and comfortable home lives. It makes total sense they would do things when they are older and join the Republic etc, but any story about them in the immediate aftermath of where we left off on this show would need a plot mechanic that forces them to participate in whatever the galactic goings on are in a non-contrived way. Also, as a real life coda, I think because of delays this show started filming three ish years ago. The actors have aged considerably since then and it would likely be jarring to just insert them back into a show as if no time had passed. So for all those reasons I don't think us getting a season 2 is a matter of how well the show is/was recieved in comparison to its budget, I think its a matter of was it a show, like Mandalorian, that was meant to spawn multiple seasons or was it a show that was meant to tell a fresh Star Wars story in the old "Amblin" style that stands alone as a show but inserts the characters into the Star Wars galaxy should it help if they pop up elsewhere. And because I think its the latter I don't see why a second series would or should follow.
I love this show...but I don't really see the point in a 2nd season. I would like to see some of the characters (mostly Jude Law) pop up in another show or movie though.
I had a quick browse of social media and I see a lot of people complaining about loose ends. Now with the exception of Andor im normally the one banging the drum pointing out how so many loose ends have been weaknesses of some of the other live action shows. With Skeleton Crew I think its...mostly OK. I would not have minded an epilogue, something to show us what direction the planet is going to go in now they are exposed to the New Republic, what the adults of the world think about their "great work" coming to an end. But the story was really the stort of the four childrens adventure so thats not too bad. The other supposed "loose ends" people talk about I dont think really are loose ends. I got my one big ask which was Jods backstory. But I dont see where there is scope for a Season 2. This show, if you think about it, it was about the children accidentally getting catapulted into the galaxy and then evading pirates, tribal warlords, crab monsters etc and getting help to find their way home. Now they are home, home in a world of plenty and abundence, it makes no conceivable sense for them to be in the kinds of dangerous situations that make for "adventure" in the SW galaxy until they are older. Every other time weve seen a child character on adventures (Omega in Bad Batch, Grogu in Mandalorian etc., Ezra in Rebels) its been because that character is in peril for who they are and needs to fight back against evil connected to the empire and they either dont have a loving family or are in peril with their found family. These four all have good lives and loving parents. It makes sense for them to do their good in the galaxy when they are older, i.e. not the ages the actors are now. Its an interesting question what At Attin will do with itself now the guiding hand of the supervisor is destroyed and they know the purpose of the mint isnt really needed. But thats not a Star Wars story in and of itself. When we see stories of how society adapta in Star Wars its also in the context of someone on an adventure/fighting a fight/on a mission passing through that section of society, like in Mandalorian. And there is no fight for these children at this point in their lives. So yeah, solid show, would have liked another 5 mins at the end but didnt dent the show as a whole not having it and had a clear 80s kids adventure film theme which it took heavy inspiration from even in how it ended.
I really liked your idea of the twist and I hope they use it at some point. I know people don't think SW is in a good place atm and, while I'm not really a fan of the ST, I've actually enjoyed just about all of the SW tv stuff so it kinda bums me out that they are going to cut back on the production of tv series. I get it and hope that it will translate to better shows that do resonate with the whole (well, we know it's never going to be 100%) fandom.
Loved thisnshow...season 2 would be nice but I think, depending on when they take place time line wise, the 'fall out' from this may get touched on in Ashoka season 2 or the Mando/Grogu movie
Amazing show...Disney need to push this harder. When I open Disney plus I'd have to scroll through all the banners to even get to this show, it should be front and center ahead of NCIS and all that crap. They need to put it on ABC or cut it together into a movie or something. I need more of this corner of the galaxy.
They tend to do this to all the big IP shows. I've seen this happen with pretty much every SW and MCU live action show (a few exceptions but don't ask me to name them). You get the opening day where it's front and centre of the welcome page and then after that...go hunt for it. Other services just don't do that. House of the Dragon for example, every week that was airing you could see literally nothing else on the welcome screens of NOWTV (the service which we get HBO stuff through in the UK).
@ludwigvanbeethoven8448 Yeah I've got Now TV so I know exactly what you're talking about. I could swear in the past with every new episode of a major Marvel of Star wars show Disney+ would have it front and centre as soon as you opened the app. I don't know what's changed.
@ZachBobBob Maybe back during the earliest days and the highs of Mandalorian S2 etc, but its something I've noticed for a while, most recently with Acolyte, Agatha, Ashoka, even Loki S3 I think. Even the Bad Batch series finale episode. Some have been worse than others, but its always weird to see the premier of a new flagship IP show is burried several layers behind legacy TV which, i totally agree drives a lot of business for sticking with the platform, but doesn't need or at least won't benefit from being in your premier "advertising" space on the home page.
I want to see where Jod ends up, kind of just left his fate open. He had a Kanan Jarrus begining, born Caleb Dume but changed his name to avoid Order 66 it seems.
I don't think he was a survivor of order 66. He said that a Jedi found him and later he watched her die. My thoughts are that the Jedi who found him was a survivor of order 66 and the people who killed her were most likely Inquisitors.
@@2apocalypse-X But the inquisutors carried out Order 66 after the initial purge by taking the remaining Jedi. For Jod, it was clearly a later time than day 1 of the Empire since his Jedi master that took him under their wing was in rags (and in hiding) but it’s still the same thing really.

Andor was better. Nothing happened and finale was meh, again nothing happened.
@ Haven’t watched Andor yet, but I’ve heard great things about it. I’m really excited to watch it tho :D

Amazing show, loved it!
This show was truly a joy to watch weekly I hope Wim becomes a Jedi now and I hope they find away to be sprinkled in the Star Wars universe
Neel was adorable.
Thats all i needed.
I am satisfied.
Thank you. I agree with you. I truly enjoyed it and want more. It was fun, it was exciting, it was Star Wars.
Big fan of the show. My 12-year-old son and I loved it, and we're both hoping for a season 2. Just the type of show Disney+ should focus on: whimsy, practicals, puppets, stop-motion, adventure, and not connected to classic characters. There's a big galaxy out there to explore.
Wim had that look in his face that he wants to become an x wing pilot.
This was a great show. It was a great show to set up the next generation of fans and satisfy current fans.
Funny you mention the story book ending, Coy. The end credits is like flipping pages of a book. And at the end when holo-book turns off, that is like the book closing at the end of a fairy tale story. Which leads me to believe this will be a one-and-done season. This story has come to an end.
Damn that was quick! And so am I!!
Camera on, One take, upload while thumbnailing and away we goooo!
The finale was amazing. I literally pointed at the screen and was like B- Wings! So cool to now just show the X-Wings. My kids and I really enjoyed the show and we hope there will be more seasons.
Incredibly happy how they stuck that landing for me.
Loved this series. Thank you for the review.
Comfort food is not a surprise. You know what to expect. The appeal is how well it is executed. They nailed the execution of this so well. 👏👏👏
Yes, this was a huge nostalgia play to ET, THE GOONIES, THE EXPLORERS, FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR, etc, yet it was a solid story set in the Star Wars universe AND ... whole familiar also successfully added new elements, new droids, new vehicles, planetary camouflage, and new aliens (I ❤️ the owl alien!). 👏. 👏. 👏. (Slow clap) Bravo!
I like this summation
Agreed!
nothing happened
I think the season ended way better than I thought it would. This was the best episode of the season for me, tying everything together. Great season! I watched it with my 10 year old daughter who was also digging it. Great bonding experience and her first real exposure to Star Wars.
completely agree with you to be honest, but I give it an A, I had that great feeling watching it.
So lucky we got this show!! Need more like it
I hope this show creates a new generation of fans Parents who watch with thier children and teach them how great Star Wars can be with a show like this This show made me feel like 12 again when i saw the first StarWars movie ( yes i am almost 60 )
I hope for a season 2 The young actors were great And Jude Law was fantastic hope to see him in other Star Wars lore
i dont think this was as great as Andor or Mandalorian 1& 2 but its better than the other Star Wars live action shows And for those who have complains about it i wanna say : Just enjoy it Greatings from THe Neherlands
Great great great series
Skelton crew finale was amazing I cry and Wim was looking to corvette ship probably was Ezra or Luke
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ Almost 42k ❤
Remember trust in KB. No one taking her down
As a fellow fan of Last Jedi, I had to hit that subscribe button
i loved this finale!
Loved the whole series.
Oh that’s fun! Into these
@@CoyJandreau Stephen Fry voiced the Supervisor.
Did Wim became Yeager in star wars resistance?
This show was great because it tied to nothing else. Everything else Star Wars they are making is a tangled mess of "Oh god let it end".
It was a fun series. My son’s question was who created the supervisor?
Probably the Old Republic when they set up the planet to make credits
I like it to end here, the Galaxy is big enough for other stories
They really stuck the landing, I throughly enjoyed the finale.
LOVED IT!!!
Star Wars: Flight Academy ... where a few of the kids are a bit older and become pilots
Goddam...When I heard 'X-Foils in attack position!' I swear it was a Mark Hamill voice over! looked at the credits, no, hero pilot of episode 8 is X-wing Commander Kent played by Andy Powers BRAVO :)
So glad it wasn’t a dream
It was a great episode. I loved it.
For some reason I felt like the supervisor computer sounded like the emperor
I really hope disney looks at the quality of the show rather than the viewership numbers
Goonies 2 just got announced today! And more Gremlins movies.
Jod Na Nawood = Star Wars' Penguin?
You can easily see him turn villain or antihero or even full redemption.
That’s what a season 2 is for. Ended at the perfect spot
I consider B & B - a very good rating
Hey bro great takes. You don’t watch severance or wanna cover it??
I really liked your idea of the twist and I hope they use it at some point. I know people don't think SW is in a good place atm and, while I'm not really a fan of the ST, I've actually enjoyed just about all of the SW tv stuff so it kinda bums me out that they are going to cut back on the production of tv series. I get it and hope that it will translate to better shows that do resonate with the whole (well, we know it's never going to be 100%) fandom.
Yes! The Force is accessible to all. Jedi is just a brand, and a stale one at that.
Yep some people are just more capable of using the force. It’s an energy that’s all around
Loved thisnshow...season 2 would be nice but I think, depending on when they take place time line wise, the 'fall out' from this may get touched on in Ashoka season 2 or the Mando/Grogu movie
😎
I’m fine with a single good season.
Get ready, Coy. That Daredevil: Born Again trailer is dropping at 10AM ET/7AM PT. Be ready to react to it.
Over at rejects already on the books
@ Gotcha.
The final episode was very enjoyable, overall I did hate this show…I am glad for those that loved this series
was that our moon?
Season 2
Odd to think this was a story inside a story. I never got any indication of that except maybe one or two comments somewhere on a TH-cam video.
The only negative is how Acolyte hurt this show in views....
i wanted jod to get the gold
Im just checked out on Starwars . Lucas film has just lost me on it . What would get me interested in Starwars again is like live action is clone wars or if they did KOTOR absolutely perfect to a T and did it very very well . Other than that just kinda meh in Starwars from Disney nowa days . The quality is so bad in my opinion and nkt interesting.
